is bbcode copyrighted?

I was wondering if i could just "plop" bbcode into my program

i found this forum (well it was BARE bones... no avatars, no syntax, no way to embed images, etc... just had posting w/ categories and a CSS template)

so i heavily modified it and incorporated bbcode into it.

i was just wondering if bbcode is protected in anyway before i continue.

ummm, no. bbcode is just modified html through php, both html and php are opensource.
