When you have the drive hooked up to the pc, if its powered by the 360, you shouldn't have any red lights. Thats not a good sign if you do.

Make sure the video cable is plugged in, cause the 360 will power off if its not.

Try the other SATA port that comes out the back of the PCI card, assuming you have the same one I have, which has 2 SATA internal SATA ports and one external eSATA.

After its in modeb, unplug SATA, boot to windows. Hotplug SATA back into the drive at the windows loading bar.

Find the drive letter of your Hitachi. Play the 79unlock wav file in the Hitachi drive once completely, then play again and immediately pause it. Close media player.

Run the 79unlock f command (assuming your drive letter is F:/)

Flash with Firmware Toolbox 4.6+ like any other Hitachi drive. Viola.

Yea, thats the idea as soon as I can get it into B lol. I'll try it with that 1 ring (did it before when video was unplugged, but did last night despite video cable BEING plugged in) as it doesn't shut down and Hachi does open and etc.

Using the esata port worked! Now it has a definite E74 overheat and I'm not finding too many GOOD tuts on removing the mobo/sinks.

Glad I could help. Yeah, before you flash it (safely) you're going to have to fix the overheating issue.

Find the error code if you're not positive its an E74.

Here is the Xclamp fix I used. Been working great since I did it. About two weeks, now.

http://copronymous.com/wp-content/up...-the-3rlod.pdf

Get it in mode b, unplug SATA, plug SATA back in at windows loading bar, hit eject a few times, find drive letter, play hitachi79 unlocker wav file 1 and a half times, run the 79unlock f (or whatever your drive letter is) and then flash with toolbox.

BAM! Lol, I've done this a lot...

Now dig this: it HAD xclamp done already LOL. What I did was replace the washers with the ones I bought, clean and reapply the thermal paste, reassembled the sinks. Now I need to go get the f-ing torx8 to put everything back in place(yes, I gently but steadily ripped the board outta the casing, but putting it back is impossible without removing the power buttom PCB). Hope that old, crusted paste and 2 nylon washers vs 1 nylon 1 metal were the real problem.

FYI it did run before, just buggy and fans seemed to glitch. Now with modded dvd, talismoon and xclamp overhaul I hope it'll be completely cured.

How the fuck did you manage to get the board out without taking the front pcb off??

That can't be good. If you didn't have a Torx8, a 2.4mm precision screwdriver would have saved the day. Thats crazy shit, bro.

I hope nothing is broken. Thats an expensive fuck up if it is, lol.

Nothing was bent or cracked, I just slipped it out. Got my torx and will see today after classes whether the new nocturnal grease did the trick.

If it still works, I suppose you're good.
