\Get this. My friend mailed in his Xbox, and they mailed him a NEW one, AND sent the old one back!

lol My friend sent in a limited Halo edition one and got a white one back .... He wasn't pleased.

Anyways, after he got the two Xbox's back, he gave me the old RROD'd one. and I did the towel trick AFTER going into it and tightening the heatsinks. So far, it's going good.

A guy on my street asked me for just the Xbox360 console with no wires because his had just got RROD and his console was past its warranty . I told him i would sell him one for $100 aslong as he gave me his old RROD one . When i opened it up not one of the air vents was open, The console was totally full of 4 years of dust. Cleaned the dust out of it and it has been working perfectly all week so i modded it, put some cables with it and a 20 GB HDD and sold it tonight for $180.

Your still better off doing it yourself imo. It may seem cheaper now but in the long run it will be cheaper if you do it. I have had my 360 for about a year and have had to do 2 updates to it. For you that would be $45x2 plus the future updates.

ok now, what about games? are there any special disks that i need to get? also if MS eventually finds a way to catch people, how can i change my xbox back to normal?

The special disks you need to get is Vebatim branded Dual Layer DVD+R ... They are the best you can use for your games. Some people have had success with other cheaper media .... For example i can burn games to FUJI disks but if i try to play them in a Hitachi drive it is very rare that they work and If i try to use Memorex media i get a failed disk 90% of the time . Verbatim disks work on all drives every time.

If you needed to restore OFW to your 360 you will need a copy of the liteon official firmware and your keys ( Get the modder to make a backup of these for you ) It is worth having a backup of your DVD drive Key incase you need to spoof a new drive into it at a later date.

If MS detects you they will ban your console so to be safe make sure you check and verify all of your game ISO's with a app called ABGX360 . This App will make sure your ISO is identical to the retail release.
