Default Got my 360 Today!!!

And it's a Jasper model!!

Now, I'm ready to start modding it, i looked, and apparently I have a liteon drive, but the thing is, i tried to follow the uber noob guide at muppet modding, and i think i'm such a noob that I can't even use that haha.

Well, anyway, the problem is that "Part 3" is a broken link, so can anyone tell me what i need to do? Also, do I need to purchase anything to mod my liteon xbox?

Part 3 doesn't work on this thread:

You really need a Connectivity kit but can be done without it ( I use the CKv3 Pro and Probe ) If you are going to mod a lot of 360's like i do then i suggest you buy one . If you are just going to do this one i would try to find someone in your area that mods them and get them to do it.

Also you might need this ...

I was lucky because my onboard sata ports worked fine for all drives.

What exactly does the connectivity kit do? If i buy one, does it mean i don't need to buy this?: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4706

No. It's to connect your drive to the power supply. If you use the 360 to power the DVD drive when flashing it, you risk being banned.

hmmm, fuck.

So can you tell me where to get that? Also, what about a USB to Serial ATA? Would that work instead of the PCI to SATA?

Someone will correct me, but I think only Hitachi's can use the USB kit.

The connectivity kit also makes getting the unique key from your drive easier I believe.

Ok, I see, so I read up, i'll basically need the following:

PCI -> SATA (if my current one isn't compatible)
CKv3
The Spear thing to extract the key?

and that's all i'll need?

edit: nevermind, it's the Xtractor and the Spear right? this is so confusing..

If you do not use the CK and probe then you need to Solder a couple of points on the DVD drive ... If you are not skilled with a soldering iron i would try to avoid doing this or you could end up with this *Click Spoiler*....lol
Spoiler:

With the CK you can just put a probe into the R707 hole on the DVD drive and read the key using the SATA and a USB COM Port

If you do not have a compatible VIA Chipset then you will need the PCI card.

Give Beaker a PM because he is the expert .... I just use what works for me lol
Also i think on his site he has a tutorial on making probes which might save you a little $$$ but if i was you i would try to find someone with experience locally to do it for you ( Especially if you are only doing this one ) because all of the tools required to do it easily cost quite a lot of money . Torx 10 Screwdriver , Case opening tool ( It helps but can be opened without it ) , CKV3 , Probe , SATA Ports .
All of that is going to cost you more than paying a guy on Kijiji or Craigslist to do it for you.

After you have done a couple of drives it is really easy to do and now it only takes me a few mins to complete the job.

either CK3 and probe or Xtractor and spear, your choice. Yes, use iXtreme firmware, 1.6 is the latest.
