It depends on the method of removal. My mother had them removed by impact, and she still felt pain a few days later and had bruises on her face. I had mine removed by incision (cutting) and I didn't bruise and felt about the same pain as after getting my teeth drilled. I was prescribed Vicodin and ibuprofen, but i didn't need the Vicodin for mine. She needed it for hers though.

I had all 4 of them removed, last one last tuesday, none of them hurt me at all... but the last one, that apparently was kinda stuck in there... during the whole process u won't feel a thing, u don't need to be asleep... local anethetics should work just fine, just make sure u follow the indications for the after and nothing should happen, have u ever been punched in the face in a fight? well, this is not as bad as that so no big worries mate, good luck with that!

later.

also had all 4 removed
kinda made a big thing over nothing, didnt really hurt, just make sure you get numbing medication, dont waste money for them to put you asleep, theres no reason

impacted teeth are the suck. what started happening is it is coming up at a slight angle and has caused a small size opening in the gum.

every now and then i will feel some slight discomfort and my dentist has recommended i just get it over with and have it taken out. says there's a possibility for infection and no telling when it could happen...i could be asleep fine one night and wake up the very next morning with my face swollen and in pain.

as far as afterward, how long do you have to stay on soft foods?

Yeah, I didn't have to have them removed..but mom said "Hey! If insurance covered it!"....so she had all 4 cut out for no reason when I was 17.

Put gas on, he put the IV in (I laughed), counted backwards to 97 and was already done. My Mom and the girl I liked at the time (Now my girlfriend) and I laughed like a little kid and told the nurse-helper I liked my now girlfriend. I tried to race them to the car while they HAD to help me...and then got home and tried to take my pants off in front of my girlfriend...and mother.

Anyways..not bad at all. No swelling, pain was minimal, had hydro but didn't need them. HOWEVER I couldn't stop playing with my stitches!

I had all four removed at once when i was 16.

Not a big deal.

As BCman said, avoid drinking from a straw, and if you're a smoker, do not smoke for at least 3 days.

If you do the above, you will end up loosening and dissolving the blood clots in the tooth sockets.

If that happens, you will end up with a "dry socket".

If you get a dry socket, you are fucked.

You will be in excruciating pain. For days.

Oil of cloves is the only pain reliever for that.
