First thing's first~ You need X-link kai~ So download them from here; http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ - go to the download sextion - download xlink kai evolution 7 (For some reason 7.4 crashed on me last i tried) ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== *-*-*-*-*-*-*-* FOR PEOPLE WITH ROUTER *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Please visit the following pages; http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8757 http://www.angelfire.com/droid/ahman/ http://www.angelfire.com/droid/ahman/readme.html ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== *-*-*-*-*-*-*-* FOR PEOPLE WITH WIFI-MAX *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* 1.) This 1st video explains how to get on Xlink Using Wifimax. Wifimax is a $30-40 Wifi dongle that allows you to connect to your computers internet connection for a nice clean fresh ALMOST lag-free connection. When i play online on my wifimax in not that far from my computer and i always have a 100% solid connection with no lag 2.) This second video is a follow up to the 1st for any people having trouble getting online to play on Xlink. The most common problom is installing the new Drivers. 3.) this link is a new video tutorial i recently found. hope these videos can help some of you get online on Xlink to play Ad-hoc games online. gogo MHF2 (Credit goes to CubanBlunts) ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ======XLINK KAI TUTORIAL====== Opening notes – Do I have the right router? I haven’t been around the x-link kai website for quite a while now but from what I can gather: it is imperative to understand that xlink kai does NOT work with all routers except for a selected few. I won’t bother listing the xlink-compatible router because the chances of people using those specific routers are very scarce, not to mention the fact they’re only 2-3 outdated models listed. So to be extremely blunt: team xlink never intended to create a working xlink kai that is compatible with all routers. What they do encourage, however, is the use of a USB wireless adapter: the wifi max and it is through this peripheral that this tutorial was written for. Never mind the fact that you already have a wireless router, team xlink didn’t have the resources to develop a universally-compatible xlink kai, so its either wifi max or no go. If you don’t have money to shell out for a wifi max or if you’re just incredibly materialistic about buying a wireless adapter over an existing wireless router – then this tutorial guide isn’t for you. Preparations: Ok I’ll try to keep this short and snappy. Nobody likes to read a mountain of words, no matter how good it’s written right? ^^ 1) You will need a wifi max: ![]() I don’t really know whether you definitely need this brand but just for the sake of consistency I’m only going to recommend this wifi max. 2) Windows XP: I’m sorry I don’t use vista so you’re pretty much outta luck if you’re a vista user. 3) Xlink Kai: Which you can finder here: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ don’t forget to register an account too 4) Zydas software: The wifi max drivers, specifically developed to work flawlessly with Xlink Kai. You can grab these here http://www.teamxlink.org/binary/ZD12...17_0_0_ALL.exe Note: This is for windows XP ONLY 5) Configure PSP Adhoc: You’ll need to set the PSP’s Adhoc to Ch1. To do this, Go to Settings > Network Settings > Ad Hoc Mode and configure it to Ch 1. Xlink Kai tutorial guide 1. Install Xlink Kai Make sure the wifimax isn’t plugged in. At this point, I’m assuming you don’t have any previously installed Xlink Kai or any wifimax driver/software. If you do, uninstall them. 2. Install the ZyDAS driver During the installation, you might bump into a software notification, just continue anyway. 3. Plug in your wifi max Once you’ve plugged in your wifi max, your system will detect the peripheral and attempt to find a driver for it. 4. Installing the Zydas driver 4.1 At the first window, tick ‘No, not this time’ and hit ‘Next’. http://img142.imageshack.us/my.php?i...9134463sg2.jpg ![]() 4.2 In the next window, tick ‘Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)’ and hit ‘Next’ http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?i...5071118to8.jpg ![]() 4.3 Next window: tick ‘Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install.’ And hit ‘Next’ http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?i...5244067wh3.jpg ![]() 4.4 If your window XP is up to date, you’ll be greeted with another window list of compatible drivers. Select the ‘(ZD1211B)IEE 802.11 b+G USB Adapter’ and hit ‘Next’ http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?i...9568316bu2.jpg ![]() Note: This is kinda new to me, last time I did this I had to manually redirect the system to the Zydas driver location. If you’ve installed it in the default folder, it should be located in: C:\Program Files\ZyDAS Technology Corporation\ZyDAS_802.11g_Utility\InsDrvTemp_USB 4.5 You’ll be interrupted with a warning, just hit ‘Continue anyway’ http://img528.imageshack.us/my.php?i...2658135ht1.jpg ![]() 5. Configuring Wifi max In order for your wifimax to detect your PSP, you’ll need to get it send Adhoc signals. 5.1 Boot MHF and go to the guild hall, hit ‘circle’ to go online. For other games with multiplayer, try attempting to create/join through Adhoc. ![]() 5.2 While the PSP is in Adhoc mode, at the bottom right of your desktop, double click on the ZD icon in your system tray. ![]() 5.3 Hit the Refresh button and you should see your PSP shown in the ‘Available Network’ as PSP_AULUS etc. Double click on it and then hit ‘More Settings…’ ![]() 5.4 Hit ‘Advance Setting…’ ![]() 5.5 In the Advanced Setting windows use these settings. Close them when you’re done. ![]() You have now configured your wifi max. Note: As long as you’ve selected the PSP in the main Zydas utility window, you can switch off your PSP and switch it on again, the wifi max will automatically pick up the signals for your xlink kai-ing needs. 6. Configuring Xlink Kai The next part is configuring Xlink Kai to communicate with the Zydas driver that’s using the wifi max. 6.1 Boot up Xlink Kai Config by hitting Start > All Programs > Xlink Kai Evolution VII > start Kai Config. Use the following settings: ![]() Your Xlink Kai should be fully configured. Note: you should obviously use your own XTag username and password! 7. Using Xlink Kai 7.1 Boot up Xlink Kai by clicking on Start > All Programs > Xlink Kai Evolution VII > Start Kai and hit the globe icon at the top and then go to the PSP category by clicking on the arrow: ![]() 7.2 Navigate and find an arena or room with people in it. You should eventually end up with a window like this: ![]() You can click on the lil thin arrow bar at the right side of the window (marked in red) to extend a chat area to the people currently in that room. ![]() ![]() And a few more screencaps from the lovely ppl on xlink Kai – Royalfluxi and zoidl1 ^^ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 8. Enjoy X-link Kai ^^ Final notes: I didn't have to fiddle around with my router's firewall ports in order to get this working. However my windows firewall on my system is off and my norton detected the new xlink application which I gave permission to access the Internet. Apart from that there was no hardcore firewall fiddling as far as I'm concerned. (Credit goes to Senji) ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== Ok. If you are stuck with a Nintendo Wifi USB Connector and want to use it to connect with a different devices like a psp, you can use this tutorial to change your Nintendo Wifi USB Connector in to a SoftAP so you can connect online with any other devices. To do this you need to have this rar file: http://rapidshare.com/files/25002877...i_Fullpack.rar ![]() Then follow these steps: 1) If you want to use the official Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector as a standard SoftAP make sure you have removed the Nintendo software and drivers as they will no longer be needed. 2) Inside the Drivers folder of the RAR file, you will find modified Buffalo drivers. Install these drivers for the USB Connector. Then install the ASUS software (also in RAR file(eng_2371.zip)). When it prompts you to restart, select No. I have found that there is no need to. 3) Now in the ASUS EXEs folder of the RAR file, extract the six EXE files in the into the ASUS folder (C:\Program Files\ASUS\WLAN Card Utilities). Make sure you overwrite the existing files. 4)Then click Start -> All Programs -> ASUS Utility -> WLAN Card -> ASUS WLAN Control Center. You will get a dialog asking if you want to use the Windows configuration utility or the ASUS one, select the option that uses ASUS one and disables the Windows one. Then there will be a wizard. Click Cancel to close the wizard. 5) Now copy the file (C:\Program Files\ASUS\WLAN Card Utilities\Driver\WinXP\AP\rt2500usb.sys) to (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers). Make sure you overwrite the existing file. 6) Right-click on the ASUS software icon in the System Tray (bottom-right corner of screen) and select Wireless Settings. When the settings dialog opens, on the left select Config, then go to the SoftAP tab, and select Soft AP Mode. Then un-tick the Enable ICS checkbox. Then on the left click Apply. You will get a message box asking if you really want to change to SoftAP mode, click Yes. A message will come up saying something like "add the adapter to the network bridge", just ignore it and click OK. If all has gone well, there will be no error messages. Now close the ASUS Wireless Config utility or it will start conflicting when we manually set ICS. 7) Now go to Control Panel -> Network Connections (this may have opened automatically opened up when you Applied the SoftAP settings). Right-click on the Network Adapter you are currently accessing your Internet through (or your internet connection icon) and open the properties for that connection. Go to the Advanced tab, and click "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection". Then click OK. If you get an error message saying the IP address is already in use, disable the Network adapter you are trying to share then try again - be sure to enable it again afterwards. It can take a long time for ICS to be enabled so wait patiently. 8) Now right-click on the Wireless Network Connection and click Properties. In the middle of the dialog there will be some protocols, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then open the properties for that. Windows would have assigned a static IP address if ICS was successfully enabled, check to make sure this IP address does not conflict with other IP addresses on your network. Also, it should be on a different subnet to the Local Area Connection (for example, my computer's IP address is 192.168.0.2, I assigned the wireless network connection the IP address of 192.168.1.1 - which is on a different subnet). If it is on the same subnet, ICS will not work correctly. ***9)*** With that done, open the ASUS Wireless Config utility again. On the left select Config, in the Basic tab set a SSID. In the encryption tab, select Shared for Network Authentication and WEP for Data Encryption - I have found that this works with the DS. Now enter a WEP key. Go back to the Basic tab, and at the bottom click on Advanced, change the 54g Mode setting to 802.11b only. Click Apply on the left to save the settings. 10) Now turn on your DS, play a Wi-Fi Connection game, go to the Nintendo WFC Settings, and select Manual Setup. Enter the SSID and WEP Key (both of these are case-sensitive) you entered to the ASUS Config utility before. Select No to Auto-obtain IP Address (you must do this because the Nintendo DS doesn't seem to DHCP correctly with ICS for some reason). Now give your DS an IP Address (this must be on the same subnet as the USB connector, I gave my DS the IP address: 192.168.1.2). For subnet mask enter 255.255.255.0. For gateway and primary DNS, enter the IP address of the USB connector. Now try and test connection, and if all has gone well the connection should be successful! 11) Now with the ASUS Wireless Config utility, hide your SSID, and use MAC Address filtering to improve the security of your wireless access point. 12) You now have an Official Nintendo Wifi USB Connector that can connect online with any other devices. :D ~~~ This is a video of me installing the Nintendo Wifi USB Connector. in the video i take a long time to do some things. so if you think the video is over its not. the video is like 12:00 minutes. its really long. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XCSFNK20 ~~~ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note 1: I did not make this guide. I just happened to find it and want to share it with everyone else because it helped me a lot. ***Note 2:*** I use different I use different ASUS WLAN Card settings than the ones in step 9 so I can connect with the DS and PSP at the same time. here are my settings: Basic Tab -Network Type - Infrastructure -Network Name (SSID) - Hide SSID -Channel - 6 -Data Rate - Fully Auto -PS Mode - CAM ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Encryption Tab -Network Authentication - Open -Data Encryption - Disabled ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Advanced Tab -RTS Threshold - 2347 -Fragmentation Threshold - 2346 -Preamble Mode - Long -Frame Bursting - Disabled -54g Mode - 54g Auto -54g Protection - Auto -Use Short Slot Time - Disable ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soft AP Tab -Soft AP / STA Mode - Soft AP Mode ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Access Control Tab (I dont use a MAC Address anymore but you can if it works for you) -Access Control Policy - Accept -Access Control List - (enter the MAC Addresses of your device) ![]() ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- if you have any questions or anything, just ask. (PLEASE DON'T ASK ME ;) ) (Credit goes to emsal] ================================================== ================================================== ============================================== ================================================== ================================================== ==============================================

The router i have is linksys and i dont even know if i can use it for x-link kai~ I still do have the wifi-max thingy but id rather not use it if my router can be used~

Stalvros,
the only issue I could see you possibly having with a linksys router would be if you didn't have uPnP turned on (and X-link uses it?), or if you don't have your ports forwarded correctly (I'd think X-link would give you the ports to forward)... |
