:bucktooth: Big Thanks to Scorpus57 for editing this!:mrgreenthumbsup::bucktooth:

First of, let me explain what this list is. It is a list of games that many PSP owners will suggest and i have played almost all of these games. This also might reduce the spam in this forum, which is a main reason why i decided to make such a list.

RPGs
Monster Hunter Freedom 1 & 2 :twothumbs: -- Very fun, may take time to get better at.
Tales of Eternia :twothumbs: -- Slow to start but fun
Breath OF Fire (series) [PSX] :twothumbs: -- Very fun! Turn Based RPG with a great story line
The Sims 2 Who doesn't like the Sims?
Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony :twothumbs: -- Very much like both of the Diablo games, must play for Diablo fans. I suggest it.
Suikoden [PSX] :twothumbs:
Vagrant Story [PSX
Tales Of The World: Radiant Mythology :twothumbs: -- Do what your teachers tell you not to, judge a book by it's cover.
Harvest Moon: Innocent Life -- Great for people who like the harvest moon series, set in the future.
Final Fantasy I and II (PSP Remakes) -- Remake of FF I & II So far. looks pseudo-3d, which is nice.
Final Fantasy (series) [PSX] -- Great story line and lots of fun
Star Ocean: The Second Story [PSX] :twothumbs:
Final Fantasy Tactics [PSX] :twothumbs:
Brave Fencer: Musashi [PSX]
Brave Story -- Storyline is okay. It's kind of addicting, not as good as it was hyped up to be as the "Best RPG".
Legend of Legaia [PSX]
Legend of Dragoon [PSX]
Jeanne D'arc -- Like Final Fantasy Tactics, with new features.
Valhalla Knights -- very similar to FF7 in the repect you can equip arms, legs, hands, body, head, wrists etc and you have something similar to the limit breaks which depend on the weapons you have equiped. You can choose what race your party members are as well as their class, theif mage etc etc. Personally i did not like it because it was a little too difficult.
Lunar Story Games [PSX] -- Apparently good
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness :twothumbs: -- Very good game, many hours of gameplay
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII :twothumbs: -- A unique leveling system is included in this game. The cutscenes are beautiful, but the game is quite short. If you start out on hard, it will take much longer and will be worth the challenge.
Wild Arms XF
Legend Of Mana [PSX]

Puzzle/Strategy
Lumines 1 & 2 -- Modern Tetris
DJ Max Portable 1&2 :twothumbs: -- Similar to Guitar Hero, but it makes it look like child's play. Very addictive, highly recommended.
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
Field Commander -- Like advance wars for GBA
Crush -- "Very Original"
Worms Armageddon [PSX]
YuGiOh Tag Force 1&2 :twothumbs: -- The Trading Card Game, pretty fun.
Lemmings -- Puzzle involving little slaves that do a variety of tasks.
LocoRoco
Worms Open Warfare 2 -- Worms Open Warefare 2 is amazing you can play over wireless OR online! plus the ability to design your own flag for our team and start up your own clan makes thsi game amazing smile
Patapon :twothumbs: -- One of the most interesting unique rhythm games I have played, Its fun because it is sort of like an RPG, because of different bosses/weapons/units and items. Highly suggested for those that don't even like games like this.

Racing
Need For Speed Carbon :twothumbs:
Need for Speed Underground Rivals
Grand Turismo [PSX]
Burnout (series) :twothumbs:
Ridge Racer 2
Initial D
Wipeout Pure & Pulse -- Futuristic racing game known for it's speed, techno soundtracks and downloadable expansions.
Juiced 2 -- Great racing game with realistic graphics & performance. Win races, make money, recruit drivers, buy & mod actual cars to advance thru a variety of leagues.

Shooters
Killzone: Liberation
Rainbow 6 Las Vegas -- - Long awaited, disappointing, but still fun. Controls suck because PSP doesn't have 2 analogs.
Medal of Honor: Heroes 1 & 2 :twothumbs: -- WW2 based game.
SOCOM US Navy Seals Fire Team Bravo 1&2 -- Like Medal of Honor, or Call of Duty, great online play.
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops :twothumbs: -- Recruiting enemy soldiers & online mode are two great features added to MGS.
Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror :twothumbs: -- A Third Person Shooter, was great on PSX and now greater on the PSP.
Metal Slug Anthology -- Contains all releases of the Neogeo classic bi-dimensional shooter: 1, 2, 3, X, 4, 5 and 6.
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 -- 1st person shooters for PSP sorta suck because the lack of analog, this one is okay.
Star Wars Battlefront II
Star Wars Battlefront Renegade Squadron
Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow :twothumbs: -- A TPS game, the sequel to Dark Mirror with improved & added movements, e.g., swimming. And of course a multiplayer mode, this simply owns. Missing the blood that Dark Mirror had
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus -- Basically a multiplayer shooter with alot of extras, classic unique characters, weapons & areas, in addition to the training, boss rush and single infinity modes.
Gun: Showdown -- Rich storyline that has a unique setting. Was a very good game on XBOX, people say its good for PSP.

Platform
Megaman Powered Up -- A new take on the Megaman Series. Everything has become cute! Megaman, Cutman, Gutsman, all the classic enemies are back and are CUTE. Very fun, and casual. You can also play ALL THE ENEMY HEROES including Megaman! This adds incredibly replay ability. There is also a stage creator which adds even more replayability.
Megaman Maverick Hunter X
Spyro The Dragon (series) [PSX]
Crash Bandicoot [PSX]
Daxter
Rachet and Clank: Size Matters

Action/Adventure
God OF War: Chains Of Olympus :twothumbs:
Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories :twothumbs:
Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories :twothumbs: -- Adds swimming and flying which LCS doesn't have
Silent Hill Origins -- Dark, foggy & silent atmosphere; queerly deformed humanoid creatures; puzzles and confusion. This horror game will literally give you the frissons
Manhunt 2 -- "Quite" violent

Fighting
Tekken Dark Resurrection :twothumbs: -- Tekken with two new characters, for the PSP!
DBZ Shin Budokai :twothumbs: -- Awesome game based on Dragon Ball Z
Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max -- Classic, only downside is you have to use the d-pad, which personally, I hate.
Naruto: Narutimett Portable -- Naruto fighter that is suggested for fans.
Bleach 4 -- Best Bleach game out there yet. If you are a fan of Bleach, then this is mandatory! The fighting style may not be as sophisticated as a Tekken game, but it sure as hell is fun. Cell shaped graphics, extremely clean cut. Must have.
Def Jam Fight for NY: The Takeover
Soul Blade [PSX] :twothumbs:
Dead or Alive [PSX] :twothumbs:
Mortal Kombat Trilogy [PSX] -- Good old 2-dimensional MK, has all characters of MK3Ultimate and prior releases.
DBZ Shin Budokai - Another Road

Sports
Virtua Tenis 3 :twothumbs: -- Really addicting
Pro Evo Soccer -- probably only if you like soccer games. lack of commentary
Madden -- A football game that allows you to create a franchise. I think the newer version allows you to make your own player, which is new to the PSP.

Homebrew
Cave Story
Callisto
Super Mario Wars
rRootage
Squarez

:twothumbs: Highly Recommended

I will update this often, and if you have contributions, please post them :).

Special thanks to Aures, he's contributed a lot, and he has also found a helpful mod that will make the d-pad much more easier to play with. http://ufighterx.com/guides/videogam...pspdpadfix.htm

you should put guitar hero on,

even though it may be easier, it is still very addictive and fun.

you forgot Ridge Racer 2 for Racing

You should add Platform games
insert both Megaman powered up + Maverick X

this list makes me sad....... i spose it's a matter of opinion... i think twisted metal head on and both GTAs are great games... and both burnouts... mgs, lego star wars II, ratchet and clank... all very fun games... and i'm sure there are plenty of others... but it's all a matter of taste... someone could start this same exact thread in this same exact section and have an entirely different list of games... oh well...

I agree with you. There're loads of other games that deserve to be on the list.

Umm... of course another person would have a different list. It would be a another matter if he claimed this to be the "official top-10 list" or something.

What I meant was. some titles up there shouldn't have the cheek to be labelled as GREAT games for the PSP.

Esp The sims2 is a horror in almost everyway possible. R6 Las Vegas,Valhalla Knights or even dugeon siege which was mere mediocre.

Everyone has a different list, but lets not complicate great and Disappointing games. All I'm saying is the standards in which games are looked upon as Great should remain.

Burnout, pro evolution soccer, GTA LCS, Gundam Seed Destiny Rengou vs ZAFT portable, Ace Combat Skies of Deception, Daxter, Tekken. marvel Ultimate Alliance, X men legends 2. viruta tennis world tour.

Even games like DBZ shinbudokai 1,2 should be in.

Maverick Hunter x and powered up are definately in.

Near misses could be metal slug anthology due to the stale feeling, power stone collections, Ridge racer 2, Tomb raider legends.

True. But I would say that 99% of all games that have been released have players who would list them in their own "Great games list". So trying to make a list containing all Great games would pretty much just be a list of all games on the market. I think it would be easier to just make a list of the 1% that REALLY sucks a** ;)
