Default Would it be possible to make a cut-off switch for the PSP battery?

Do you guys think it would be possible/feasible to make a switch for the psp 2000 that cuts the battery off from the unit? I need something like this because my psp is draining the battery even when I turn it off; it goes from 100% to 6% in 24 hours, even if I don't turn it on and use it at all. However, the battery is preserved if I take it out of the psp.

Thanks for any help...

Btw, if anyone has had a problem similar to this and managed to fix it, could you let me know how you did it?

You sure you're not putting the PSP to sleep mode instead of turning the PSP all the way off?

That's exactly what i thought ........ when you turn your PSP off , put the on/off switch into the off position and hold it there and count to 10 then release it and it should be off without draining your battery

But even in sleep mode it shouldn't drain that much. Are you using the original battery?

Yes, I am using the original battery, and everything is less than a week old.
I'm pretty sure I'm turning the psp all the way off. I hold the power switch up until the screen goes dark before releasing it, and when I turn it back on it shows the psp opening screen that doesn't appear when you resume from sleep mode. I'm going to try my friend's working battery tomorrow, I really hope it's something with the battery because I don't want to go through the hassle of getting my psp repaired or replaced.

When you first got your PSP did you do the very first charge before even playing it for atleast 8+ hours ?

I know sometimes when you get a new toy people don't like to wait for the initial charge and try to play it straight away and this can screw up the battery.

Also what firmware version are you using ?

Oops, no, I didn't do that, I didn't charge the battery at all the first time I used it.
I just plugged the battery in to test it, and it was at 20%. The next time I turned it on, a few days later, the battery was dead, so I recharged it.
I'm using OF 5.02
But I tried my friend's battery too, and his was having the same problem.

Does the battery get warm?
If it is draining when the PSP is off, then something would have to be causing a short-circuit, even if it is just slightly.

if u still want to do it all you will have to do is cut the trace leading away from the positive battery terminal on the psp mother bored and solder wires to both sides of the trace then solder those to the switch. not sure if you would have to do it to the serial middle pin on the batt but i doubt it

if you are still using official firmware and haven't hacked it, why would you not look into a warranty replacement unit? If another battery from someone else is draining, there must be something wrong with the unit... too expensive to have to have a toggle switch hangin' out the end of it from now on... IMHO
