Well, these portals are already very advanced. In some portals there are numerous applications that can open and edit files. What if we took one of those applications JavaScript files and edited/exploited it so that, when clicked, it would take you to an alternate firmware menu where you could go into a different game menu that would allow you to open .iso game files or custom .eboot files. Kind of like custom firmware accessible through the browser, for people with 5.03 OFW that dont wanna deal with pandoras battery and all that. Of course, we would have to make the menus EXTREMELY bland so that it would work on the PSPs extremely limited amount of RAM. Please let me know your ideas! I will post concept art soon. |

Xitherun is trying to say that if it was that easy, it would have been done by now. PSP independent developers are not waiting for ideas to crack the new psp's, they have their means and ways and are working on them. Do you know how to code for psp? No? Learn and explore your own ideas yourself. Don't take this as an attack, take it as my opinion.

the portals run flash and javascript, which sony allows. homebrew and downgraders, flashers etc etc arent signed code so we cant just get it to run.. we need a way to made the "xmb" crash and force it to run code usually done through an exploit in the software
there is 2 levels of that i am aware of kernel and user, user allows most homebrew to run.. think of running a program inside a virtual machine it can do whatever it wants... in the virtual machine kernal mode allows whatever we want so the same program in the virtual machine now can access your real computer.. i guess thats the easiest way for me to explain it if im wrong feel free to correct me, but im sure that your right in the sense that there probably is a way to run an exploit in through the browser i just dont have the know-how or really care to look into it...

By nature, Javascript is designed to be a very high level and "secure" scripting language (you don't want an exploit killing millions of internet users now, do you?). Thus, it's very difficult to exploit Javascript.
Flash, by nature, is probably easier to exploit, however, its security has been keep pretty tight because of this. |
