as far as I know, you can be on any firmware.

Use Hellcat's Recovery Flasher v1.32, not 1.21:

It will let you upgrade regardless of what CFW you currently have on your PSP.


Even if you had a 1.50 fat, you can flash directly to 4.01-M33-2 with it.
