2.71 SE-C Installer and Package

What is the 2.71 Special Edition (SE)?
(incase you've just learned about it)

It is a custom firmware which allows you to upgrade to 2.71, but keep all the homebrew abilities of 1.50!
SE-B gives you the ability to run ISOs/CSOs from the Game menu, with no DevHook!
SE-B2 now adds the ability to play ISOs without a UMD in the drive!

PSP-HaXors.com | PSP Hacking 24/7 | Newb friendly | PSP-HaXors Forums |

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you need any help actually using the installer, visit Splitz Tutorial. Or scroll down the page to the Setup and Troubleshooting section.
:: Special Edition Revision C (SE-C) ::
#Load of plugins from the ms
#Changes in the HEN core:
* Fixed a bug in the loading of big user prx's, that affected a plain prx of socom2 umd, and some
homebrew prx's.
* Bypassed a crappy $ce protection that prevented the umd to be mounted if the application was run from
the memory stick
* Usb mass storage couldn't be loaded by homebrews in non-devhook version because semawm.prx is sign checked.
HEN now applies the algorithm to reverse the sign check, letting this and the rest of firmware
modules to be loaded by a homebrew.
#Added a SDK for SE-C/HEN-D. (in a separate download)
:: Special Edition Revision B 3 (SE-B3) ::
#added SFO version bypass to real umd's. (GTA VCS + other 2.8x UMDs are now playable)
#Fixed the problem of error 0x8002012D in certain games when plain modules is enabled.
(Because the problem is gone, the updater will reset the option of plain modules to enabled.)
If for some reason you still have that error, report it and disable the option, but it should be fixed now.
#Found and corrected 3 bugs regarding no umd.
* One of them affected Virtual Tennis and potentially a lot of other games.
* The other two affected GTA LCS and GTA VCS.
* Some games like Burnout Legend still don't run in no-umd because of what seems a kernel stack problem.
www.dark-alex.org/seb3.rar
Unzip to the memory stick root and run the update.
Note: You must already be upgraded to SE-B2 before updating to SE-B3.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setup and Troubleshooting
:: Setup ::
Run a version of the installer.
It will put the SE-B Flasher in GAME and the SE-B2 Update in GAME150. You won't see the update until you upgrade to SE-B.
Download the SE-B3 Update at www.dark-alex.org/seb3.rar.
Extract it to your memory stick root.
Run the SE-B flasher. Press X when prompted.
After it finishes, the PSP will reset with the version number SE-B.
Look under GAME and the SE-B' update will be there now.
Run it. When prompted, press X. You will be set back to the PSP's XMB with the version number SE-B'.
Now, download the SE-B3 Update at www.dark-alex.org/seb3.rar.
Extract it to your memory stick root. Run the SE-B'' Upgrade. Press X when prompted.
The PSP will reset with the version number SE-B''.
Now you can customize it, which I recommend. Turn off th PSP. Hold the Right Trigger and start it up.
In the Recovery Mode, select Config.
Chnage the GAME folder to 1.50 kernel.
You can also select Hide Corrupt Icons.
And if you want, remove the SCE start-up.
Finally, under Advance, you can enable or disable the NO-UMD option.
Note. When select the option, it will say 'Enabled' near the bottom.
Wait for that text to disappear before changing the next setting or your change will be lost.
:: Troubleshooting ::
"2.71 SE-B'' Upgrade" will update your SE-B to SE-B3
"2.71 SE-B' Upgrade" will update your SE-B to SE-B2
"2.71 SE-B Upgrade" will update 2.71 SE-A to SE-B
"2.71 SE-A Firmware Install" will put the new firmware on your PSP.
You can use the 2.71, 1.00 and 1.50 homebrew.
2 Options for homebrew:
1. 2.71 homebrew folders go in GAME. 1.50 homebrew folders go in GAME150.
2. 1.50 homebrew folders go in GAME. 1.50 homebrew folders go in GAME271.
Do this by booting the PSP and holding R. Enter Configuration. Change "Game folder homebrew" to 1.50 kernal.
To return back to 1.50, download this package, extract it to your PSP, and run the recovery mode (Hold R and the PSP's boot. Select run Eboot.PBP. Follow the instructions to downgrade.
To hide corrupted Icons and no SCE logo:
When you boot up your PSP into 2.71, hold down the Right Trigger.
Enter Configuration. Enable either Skip SCE logo or hide corrupted icons.
You can organize your homebrew using ufox's PSP Content Manager.
Rname your GAME folder to something like GAME2, then rename GAME150 to GAME.
Run the content manager and sort it how you like.
Rename GAME back to GAME150 and GAME2 back to GAME.
Run the content manager again and sort the 2.71 homebrew.
Note: Which ever folder you organize SECOND will be on top.
If you want the 1.50 games on top, reverse the above order.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
:: Special Edition Revision B 2 (SE-B2) ::
# Fixes the glitch where the PSP would freeze if there was no ISO folder present
# Added NO-UMD Support
Quote:
Notes:
The SE-B2 update is put into GAME150 by default.
If you are someone who chaged the 1.50 folder back to GAME, simply move the folder called "seb2_update" to GAME and run it.
Activate NO-UMD by entering the Recovery Mode (Holding R-Trigger at boot) > Configuration > Use NO-UMD.
It is Beta, so not all games work.
So..... after the release of the easy installer.. should i or should i not? I'd feel sad to leave my 1.5 behind even though i can have it all juz the same with SE-A.
Just something to ask u guys about.. i dun quite understand this part:
" Again, a few words from Mathieulh and DAX:
Mathieulh has said that after installing the custom firmware, there isn’t much space left on Flash0. So it’s best to use the downgrader which formats the whole Flash0 first. That way, you can be sure that there aren’t any useless files on your Flash.
You will need a 1.5 dump. Those are only available if you’re on a 1.5. Though you won’t have to worry, Dark_AleX has bundled a helper program which will help you make a firmware dump easily. "
Does that mean i have to update my current 1.50 to 2.71 and downgrade it back to 1.50 with the generic downgrader after enabling HEN rev C on the 2.71 JUST to get the fresh Flash0 of 1.5? Sorrie if i had made it confusing.. :P but what if i haven't done anything to my PSP, havent written anything to the flash0, and it's a PURE 1.50 Jap set? Please let me noe asap! I seriously wanna tryout this firmware.
@ChaosZero
Is the devhook in ur pack 0.46 or .45? Coz i recently heard some issues abt devhook on 2.71.
q: wouldnt it be good to read the readmes sometimes?
u need 2 start the 2.71 installer on _firmware 1.5_
you will get finally to an 2.71 firmware, able to execute 99% of the current homebrews for 1.5 (known exceptions are listed in the readme)
if ur with 1.5 just give it a try.
So once i flash it, it will become 2.71SE rite. So if i dun like it, i use the generic downgrader? Do i need to run HEN C? Coz it's supposed to be "customized" and it should be easy to upgrade and downgrade... so many qns to ask before i finally upgrade to 2.71SE.
PS: Is DA Generic Downgrader the same as updateflasher271?
I made my decision. I shall stick to 1.5 with devhook .46 until i have enough money as a backup. Just in case i have a brick in my hand. ;)
