There is an official Sony adapter available that allows you to use existing PSP peripherals with the PSPGo. Its ungainliness kinda defeats the portability aspect of the smaller console though:
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2...r-function.ars http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/24/p...able-with-sup/ And all the images seem to show the PSPGo in its unexpanded form. Imagine how bulky and top heavy it would be when expanded. Presumably Sony will release another add-on in the form of a ballast or metal chain to tether the device to the user so it doesn’t somersault out of their hands. Luckily, a new PSPGo carry case has been designed to allow you to maintain your level of portability: ![]() ...and now with UMD adaptor!! ![]() By wedging the two spoons under the adaptor, on opposite sides, the user is able to then use the knife to leverage the adaptor apart from the PSPGo. The fork is for stabbing yourself in the eye with, once you realise what a pig of a system you have purchased. |

On top of all that though, Sony also recently announced that they won't be demanding all game makers to make their games available to the Sony Store. There was some speculation that PSP game makers would have to sell their games through the PSN Store as it appeared as though Sony was going to shutdown other sales avenues for PSP.
Now, Sony has said that if game makers wish to sell their games using UMD's still they can and it won't be an issue. Now, this either means that Sony just realised they may have screwed-the-pooch with a PSN only purchase option, or to avoid further backlash from not only gamers but the creators, they will continue to support manufacturing of UMD's to retail stores. Hopefully game makers will tell Sony to stick it in their ear and keep making UMD's for all the boys and girls. By the way, is it just me or does it seem like this was Sony's way to test the water with plans on making any Sony gaming product PSN-purchase only??? Could you imagine having to download a PS3 game over the PSN... would take anywhere up to a week.... and what if it crashed during download???? |

Why does everyone assume that the Go is a successor? It is NOT the PSP2. I don't even believe they marketed it as such. It's a product that gives the consumer a choice. The clue is kinda in the name 'Go'. Emphasising portability on the go. Give Sony credit, they have been in the business long enough now. If they really saw this as a successor they would have made much more of a fuss around it's release.
Yes, I agree the PSP Go is an experiment. It's not the first time Sony have pushed out a console ahead of it's time. Ask any in the industry and they will say they see digital distribution as the mainstream in the future. So IMHO it's kudos to Sony on being the first to give it a go. I hope the joker with the lame unfunny pun above didn't waste too much time on Photoshop to produce that shit. Because it's possibly the worst put down Ive ever seen. Grow up people. Stop your whinging simply because you're too tight fisted pikey to get one and you prefer stealing all your games. Just admit it. You'd be begging your mommy and daddy for a pocket money increase to get a Go if you could play your pirated shit on it.

With regards to the games, so now that they release the PSPGO, will manufacturers STOP producing UMD?
The thing is, I could understand why Sony wants to monopoly the games in market (PS Store). That's kinda like how Bill Gates sells Microsoft Windows >_<. Why go through retailers to market/sell your games when you can do it yourself? Now, what I WORRY is that, if this is the DIRECTION that they chose, they MIGHT ask all games developer to just STOP PRODUCING these UMDS (Assuming of course SONY is the one releasing UMDs or maybe those companies which CAN produce UMD needs Sony's authorization as well). So it's like, in the future they're trying to get rid of psp 2000 + 3000. It will ALL JUST BE pspGO! Why? Because all the games will be sold in PSN Store! NO UMD! Unless of course, Sony just plans to like use the UMD MAINLY for Movies! Not games!

We're kind of drifting a little off topic here I suppose, but what the hell.

You're both thinking now and not then. Two factors that are ever changing in the world - internet speeds and hard drive sizes (and their price tag). Here in the UK 20mb (or up to) is starting to become the norm. Fastest you can get here is 50mb (which I have) and they are currently trialling 100mb and 200mb. Most PS3 games, I'm lead to believe, still only use between 9-30gb of that BluRay disc. And only a handful of games at present are pushing 30gb. Currently, (I can max out my speed all the time, its solid) I could download 9gb in around 25min. 30gb in 1hr 30min give or take. Not exactly a long time really. Don't forget we're already able to download full games from the PSN, some as large as 5gb. As for hard drives, currently I could purchase a 1tb 2.5" SATA for £150. Pretty steep when you consider a 1tb 3.5" SATA is less then half that. However, go back 6 months or so and see what price the 2.5" was then. Probably double what it is now. Give it another 12-18 months and we'll all be picking up 1tb and 2tb drives for <£100. Again, it is becoming more and more the norm and you're only looking at the now, not the then. Everything we talk about to do with digital distribution, is the future. And that could be as far away as 10 years or even more. Sony are pioneering it now. In the future nobody will care about how many sales the Go made. Those in the industry will talk about it being the first console (albeit hand held) to be totally digital.
