What is the best firmware currently out right now? (please provide link)

Ok, do I have to install 5.00 m33-1 then -2 then -3 so on so on to get to 5.00 m33-6 ? or does 5.00 m33-6 update any verison to m33-6?

You can just Network update to the newest version. There is also a thread on updating.

What PSP do you currently have and what firmware is it? We need this information because if its at an unhackable state, the below wouldn't have any mean.

If you need to play newer games, your best bet is 5.50 GEN.
If you want more compatibility and to use 1.50 homebrew, go 5.00 M33.

5.50 GEN

Spoiler:

5.50 GEN-A - Move the whole UPDATE folder to /PSP/GAME. If on custom firmware, reboot into recovery, go to Configuration and then Game folder homebrew. Press X to make it say the other kernel (NOT 1.50) From there exit and launch the update via GAME > MemoryStick.

When finished updating, download 5.50 GEN-B, and move it to /PSP/GAME. Launch it via GAME>MemoryStick.

Finally, grab 5.50 GEN-B2 and repeat the process of step 2.

For 5.00 M33, here what's you need to do:

run these installers from with 3.xx kernal mode set.(hold R trigger when starting psp to enter recovery menu, enter config, set game homebrew kernal to 3.xx)

-first download this file

-extract it

-after extracting it, u will get a 5.00 official firmware eboot.

-rename it as 500.PBP

-then download this link below

-extract it

-u will get a update folder

-put the 500.PBP in that update folder

-connect ur psp to pc via usb cable or card reader

-put the update folder in PSP/GAME/

-run it from the xmb, thats all


then after upgrading to 5.00m33-6,

format flash1 and reset settings by going to recovery menu ( turn ur psp off fully (not in sleep mode) and then hold R button and turn it on) it will go to recovery menu, then go to advance and klik format flash1 and reset settings (this wont harm ur psp, will only reset ur settings))

u need to set ur iso loader and boost ur cpu speeds...

To do so, enter VSH menu press select button from xmb) then scroll down and set umd mode/iso loader to SONY NP9660(The Best!)
Next, boost ur cpu speeds in game and xmb to 333/166(in VSH menu), this will not harm ur psp(only uses battery up a little faster)(Wifi card can become hot if used for long periods @ this speed)
Also, format memstick to delete unneeded install files and create folder structure...
