Ok well the past couple of days the internet on my laptop keeps disconnecting approx every ~5 mins

This has begun to get really annoying and I havn't been able to post much, check my emails properly ect ect...

Before yesterday, it was brilliant, I never got disconnected. (BTW my laptop says I have 4 / 5 bars filled with the connection, and I'm basically next to it so it's not that I'm too fra away from it : P)

My PC's connection seems to be fine, it's connected to the modem.

My Mum's laptop is also ok, it's not disconnecting her. I usually keep my laptop on for 12 hours running each day, whether I'm using it or not.

Recently, Virgin Media updated all their users internet speeds, so I thoiught it was that, but obviously it's not as my Mum's laptop is ok.

So what could be the problem?

I have tried resetting te router ect but still no luck.

Thanks for all those who reply, and I bet I'll get disconnected anytime now.

2 much porn :P

Um check in the router, where it says broadcast type or w/e, where you get to choose whether it broadcasts in B or G or both, and change it to just one of them. I've had wifi instability when it was on broadcast both.

^That can't be the problem, my Mum's laptop is fine (we both have the same laptops)

And I went to my router settings but I couldn't find the broadcast settings :S

i think this is what i had once, someone told me to reset the winsock or something in CMD, and it worked.
Not sure what the command is, something like reset winsock catalogue ..... i dunno. try that though, if you know how :mrgreenthumbsup:

Big thanks to you Jownathown, here's what I had to do:

To repair and reset the Windows Vista

Click on Start button.
Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
Restart the computer.

Thanks again! :mrgreenthumbsup:

GRRRGH it's just gone TWICE since my last post (SORRY FOR TRIPLE POST ),

Would formatting & installing fresh version of windows vista fix it all :/
