it all started one day when i was multitasking so much my comp started to lag...to the point where the only senseble thing to do was hold the power key till it turned off...btw it was some serious lag, to the point i waited 30 for a response...

anyways you know what happens when you turn off your computer that way, the next time you turn it on it gives you that command prompt looking screen telling you your comp wasnt properly shut down, and how would you like to boot it (safe mode, normally, safe mode through command prompt etc etc)

so I select normally and so far all is well, I can browse the web, edit, cut paste, whatever until I open my windows explorer and then 2 minutes after it opened it went boom...

"windows explorer has stoped responding"

then after that it said

"windows is looking for a solution to the problem"

then

"windows explorer is restarting"

and then my computer kinda refreshes the screen, and closes out of windows explorer, and im stuck waiting a minute or so for my comp to be usable again.

so thats it, now that happens ever single time i turn on my comp and i need a fix cuz that is annoying beyond belief, I almost had a close call copying some files to flash on my psp from pc when that happened...and it seems to happen every time i open a window reguardless if i close it afterward, it will still come up two minutes apprx later...

what should i do?

ps: ive already done a virus scan and my laptops fairly new with latest so i dont think a virus software update is neccessary..

thnx in advnce, silverfox.

Sounds like your Explorer got a little damage, have you a system restore point from before the problem?

no I do no sadly, is there a workaraound to that, like a savedata i can download off the internet? please your the first to help me and I really need it, because i recently discovered its a tad more serious, as ive realized every time windows explorer restarts, it rearranges the icons on my desktop to back what it was that day....and also my windows media player crashes upon boot, something i had open the time i turned it off as well...

Is there another way, or a alternate route using your way, as i dont have a restore point saved

Sounds like a virus / dodgey program on your system. Try killing/disabling processes and services, and perhaps even drivers.

If you can't find the issue, you're stuck to reinstalling.
