View Full Version : Looking for volunteers in the help section/ forming a list of contacts

I got to thinking about how I really want to go and help more in the help section, but I just can't stand how people don't SEEK help for themselves instead of just try things/ read the readme.txt files. I came up with an idea.
I think that we should make a list of users that wouldn't mind helping out in the help section, and give contact information for those people (and should sticky the thread).
For instance, I would put my name on the list, and provide an email address, and that way people would be able to SEND me their questions specifically.
I think this would benefit the psp-hacks forums greatly.
If you are interested in this idea, please say so below. If we get enough people (15-20) then I think it would be beneficial to create this thread.

oh, sorry about that, I didn't even think about this section. I just went to the first place where I knew knowledgeable people were.
but yes, in any sense, I think people should join me by making a list for this cause.
If you don't want to give your email address out, you can create a new email address or give a messenger account that you don't use often for people to get in contact with you.

let's do this then
let's get names of people that wouldn't mind being PRIVATE MESSAGED on THIS forum... that way, you CAN'T get a never-ending amount of questions flowing to you b/c of the PM space limitations.
would you be interested in that, my good friend?

I get PM'd quite often... It really gets annoying, considering that I actually visit the Help forum, and I believe that that is the main purpose of a forum, really. I mean, what's a forum if everyone just PMs?
I prefer users to post in the forums because I'm can't always be bothered to answer every question. It also allows multiple opinions etc.

I understand your point ZiNgABuRgA... I guess I just want to make a change in that section and just don't know how...
I am always open to suggestions... personally, the "noob box" thing seems like a good idea. That for the first 24 hours you are confined only to the help or tuts section to post, and that you can't post in any other section although you can READ them.
I was just hoping that making a list would make it easier for MORE open talk than on the forum, perhaps evolving into talking on AIM or another messenger.
I think the best option to help curb this trend is to make a specific IRC area to help process peoples' questions faster. Doing that would allow for people to quickly turn the chat into a 1 on 1 tutoring lesson.
sound better?

Another one of those "you must be here at least one day" or "you must have 20+ posts" to use the other sections... Won't work - not everyone who signs up is a n00b - check my first post - it was in the Multimedia section.
If that was the case, I would have never joined this site.
The Help section isn't that bad - it's just a bit flooded. If you wanna curb some problems, perhaps the site could be changed to make it VERY clear when they try to create a topic in Help to check the stickies etc.
Most issues are solved quite quickly, so I don't think time is really an issue.

Not that great an idea. If I were to do this (and I am sure it would be the same with anyone else) I would answer questions sent to me at my own leisure, whereas if they posted in the forum, their questions get answered faster. Thats one of the reasons I never bother to go into the help section, peoples questions are almost always immediately answered.

true... idk... damn, I just want something to change
I think ZiNgABuRgA had the right idea on this one...
we should have a disclaimer in the help section at the top of the page that says to search through the stickies. The disclaimer should also have a link to the tutorial section. The disclaimer should also be on the page where you create a new thread (for help section only if possible... but I am willing to have that disclaimer in ALL sections honestly).

I guess I will just refrain from posting in there for a while and just hope someone sees my sig and gets in contact with me if they need to.

I venture into the help section when I feel best able to help. This way it's beneficial to both parties.

Busted. All I do nowadays is check on my downgrading sticky and perhaps reply to one or two of the more retarded threads.

Im drunk but...(5:30am Sat.)
The search fuction is not available to non-registered users, if it was, lots of bandwidth would be lost.
This is the site to visit after hearing rumors of homebrew.
There will always be lazy pirates and tech-tards.
Some people have big hearts/intentions.
Some get drunk and vigilant/comical.
Some people steal stupid ideas from jokes and think there really should be a points system.
I think this site needs another Mod or three.
No offence to the existing ,but the hit cout of this site is probably getting crazy, (Christmas and all ;-)
A team to keep ???t organized, and a, pit of painful emotion caused by consciousness of disgrace, shortcoming, or impropriety, section. (Thats where flamed non-Sticky/Tutorial reading poster's threads go).
And a big pie graph.
Everyone likes pie graphs.
NVM.
I should go to bed.
Edit: err.

Yeh i would put myself on the list too. My psp's life has been an adventurous one and it has not been in jeopardy until recently when i semmi-bricked my 3.02 SE-B, but i sorted it in 1-0 minutes.
I am an expert in the software modding, but am not the guy to ask for hardware modifications!
My e-mail is: jizkid.jnr@googlemail.com
I'd be happy to help anyone who's PSP is in jeopardy or just wants advice or proof of concept.
I recently have tryed all of the downgraders out (except the TA-082 one) and my psp is still intact perfectly!
I hope this is enough fo you to trust me. Just send me an e-mail!

i'd be happy to put myself in that list
i think i've used just about every downgrader there is (just check my sig! lol), so i could help out with people who want to downgrade and/or upgrade to custom firmwares.
just PM or e-mail me if you want my help
I'll put my name down, just PM me. I decided to come back after all this time...
HEY, I KNOW!
WHY DON'T WE STICK HOW TO SEARCH THE FORUM EFFICIENTLY!?!
