their are many ways to get a certain bg for example... tedesengels sig was made by pure brushes and text......... other sigs like my current one i mixed many layers with variouse effects........

when did dravas make a sig?

photoshop

1) open new document
2) press ctrl+d
3) go to filter>render>clouds
4) use grungstract brushes and brush around using black and white colors
5) place your render anywer in ur sig
6) filter>blur>motion blur and using these settings Angle: 45 Distance: 145
7) set the blurred render to overlay and duplicate it as much as you want and move all of them around till you got what u like
8) do whatever you want like place the render whereever u want it to be and do some blendings
9)grab a nice c4d and place it in ur sig n set it to color dodge (erase sum of it if it doesnt look good n covers up the render)

grab a few colors from your render, and make a gradient with it.
find a good C4D and set it to colordodge, maybe add a little texture
blure your render into the background

there are millions of ways, you just gotta find a way that you like

mine is just grunge tut but i changed up a few things and added a few things aswell

Aww I feel so cool that I made the list. TBH though I never learned how to make a good background either (I always just use the cloud style)

no idea why i was mentioned. i've had the same sig for months and all it is is 2 pics put together, some text (warped a little) with a neon glow, and a hint of green clouds over it all to make the colors blend a little better

uh my sig was the first time i used photoshop...(i know it shoes) i fooled around with layers and i think i used the watercolor or pastic effect which was pretty Golden Grahms to me! :mrgreen:

...you dont just make a bg then slap on the render onto it.... you gotta do some blending

try putting some filters on your stuff craig to bring it to life a lil........... also like mindless said the blending helps alot... oh i got my inbox 100% every day for sigs so you guys need to meet a few requirements now lol VV mostly new guys send in requests........ so dont worry bout it........

I alos suggest www.greycobra.com they have lots of great tuts for many programs like photoshop and tools and supplies.

What I do is make a radial gradient behind the render and put C4Ds in (color dodge) and play with the opacitys and stuff!
