I have been searching for hours, but cannot for the life of me find out how to get started on coding/compiling some homebrew. Is this even possible on Windows, or do I need to have UNIX or something? Sorry for being noob, but I am starting to go nuts. I understand how to create a program source, from looking at other sources, but I have no idea where to go from there. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, it seems like the devs are trying to keep this a secret or something :o :o
[I thought this might go in 'Help,' but it seemed to fit more in 'Homebrew']
Thanks!

AhaH!
I thought so maybe... so I downloaded/installed it...
And... well, aw screw it!
EDIT:
Ok, so I knew I would need cygwin, and installed it already. Were there any installation options I should have selected? I just used default settings. Also, where do I put psptoolchain and the sdk? Again, I am new to psp haxing, so try to use words with less than 5 letters (that was a joke... ha...).

hi, try reading the topics in the psp software development forum over at forums.ps2dev.org
and don't be surprised if i move this to programming, as that is the appropriate location for it.

I just needed someone to point me in the right direction, sorry I didn't know where to look.
I won't ask anything else unless I've really got something ;)

I used this site and got it working except for one problem. Everytime I visited the link from these tutorials to the psptoolchain-2006XXXX files, i couldn't get these bitches to give me the toolchain.sh file. I got so frustrated that I started searching the net for a another version. I found a psptoolchain-2005xxxx version that seemd to do the trick. Unfortunately, i forgot the link. anyways, hope this helps

http://www.psp-programming.com/tutorials/c/lesson01.htm this site tells you step by step how to install all you need and then go on to tell you the basics of PSP Programing in C++
c++ isn't hard it just takes getting use to
but ive only been using C++ for 2 weeks and i love it :)

kilogold, your problem is simple. The reason why you can't get svn or other things to work in cygwin is because you don't have all the proper packages installed in cygwin. Go back to your cygwin installation files, and install ALL the packages that cygwin has to offer. Just check on the all packages default install and then you will have everything you need to get your programs compiling properly. I know alot of psp programming sites just say to install only a few packages in cygwin but they don't take into account what you might need in the future. I have always told everybody to always install every package that cygwin has to offer so that you don't run into problems later on.

You need to MEMORIZE two abbreviations in order to program like a god.
RTFM - Read the f*cking manual
KISS - Keep it simple stupid
And one more thing, every problem can be solved without help given enough time. So instead of crying over to the forums, you can spend the time searching and searching and searching till you find the answer. Becoming good at programming does not mean less problems, but just more skills to deal with even more complicated problems. Just so you know.
The *best* things in life are done the hard way, always.
