Hey guys, the problem I'm having is loading massive amounts of pictures onto my PSP and having them organized. The thing is, I'm loading a comic book onto my psp and I need all the files to run in consecutive order, obviously so I can read the book by flipping through the pages using the R and L buttons. The problem with the PSP (at least on my psp, v1.5 fw) is that it organizes pictures by 'date modified' rather then alphabetical order. Is there a way to fix that so it lists my pictures in the correct order? I can't figure this out no matter what I do. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

cliffnotes:
pictures are listed in 'last modified' order rather then alphabetical order, how do I fix it?

try looking in the downloads section, there are some programs for picture
organization. maybe one of those will do what you want.

I'm reading some japanese mangas. Naruto, bleach, onepiece to name a few. Yes, you can organize them on your computer but that doesn't do anything because the PSP will display them in the PSP's (last modified) order either way. The only way you can organize the files to show up in the correct order is if you 'modify' each file in consecutive order. The only way I found to do this is to open each file individually and save each one in the correct order that you would want them displayed. The problem with this is that with all the volumes of books I have on my computer, there are thousands of pictures totalled. The solution I have come up with is to use PSP photo and run it through all my mangas. The problem with this is that you need to make sure every single picture file keeps the same format in naming. When downloading a series of a manga, you need to make sure that you are getting all the same types of files (all from 1 fansub) This ensures (or at least is as close as it will get) to having the same file name format. Even though I do this, sometimes they zip the pictures with a different name format. To solve the problem, I need to re-name the 'off named' pictures. For example, a regular format for naming a file in a series would be something like this. Naruto_v1_01_001.jpg This means that the series is the naruto series, its volume one, chapter one, picture number 1. Sometimes when you unzip a number of chapters it comes out that they are named as just 01.jpg 02.jpg 03.jpg and you will have to rename them to follow the format. That really makes uploading/reading mangas onto the PSP pretty time consuming especially if the user is not so computer-savvy. I don't really have much of a problem doing this, and I can do it pretty efficiently after figuring out the quirks of the PSP system. Another thing about PSP Photo is that it has problems with jumbling the 'last modified' dates when you are converting multiple folders. What I mean is that if I convert folder 1 and folder 2, the files seem to intertwine in 'date modified'. It doesn't simply convert everything in folder 1 and follow with folder 2, but rather it does a file from 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, or something similar to that. That way, you get a mix of a bunch of pictures all out of order. You really have to mess around with it for a while to get the hang of things.

The way Sony decided to code the PSP OS is just kind of annoying and inefficient. The fact that they organize pictures from 'last modified' rather than alphabetical order is odd. Ontop of that, you can only have 1 layer of folders for the photo and music sections, making it hard to organize things. Also ontop of that, folders are organized alphabetically! (photos are not though.. -_-) And even ontop of that, folders with longer names get unorganized somehow and are not alphabetically ordered. For example: If I had the following folders on my PSP (One Piece - Volume 1, One Piece - Volume 2, One Piece - Volume 3, One Piece - Volume 4, One Piece - Volume 5, One Piece - Volume 6, One Piece - Volume 7, One Piece - Volume 8, One Piece - Volume 9, One Piece - Volume 10), the order you would think would be this:

One Piece - Volume 1
One Piece - Volume 2
One Piece - Volume 3
One Piece - Volume 4
One Piece - Volume 5
One Piece - Volume 6
One Piece - Volume 7
One Piece - Volume 8
One Piece - Volume 9
One Piece - Volume 10

In our case, it is NOT that way. The PSP decides for some reason to order it more like this:

One Piece - Volume 5
One Piece - Volume 6
One Piece - Volume 7
One Piece - Volume 8
One Piece - Volume 9
One Piece - Volume 10
One Piece - Volume 1
One Piece - Volume 2
One Piece - Volume 3
One Piece - Volume 4

Why you ask? I don't know. I had to reorganize my folders so that they are called: OP001 instead of One Piece - Volume 1. With the shortened names, they display correctly.

You can get them from a number of places. Most known fansites for each manga should carry the mangas for download free of charge. I get my naruto mangas from either narutofan.com or another naruto site. To get my one-piece and bleach I go to n-u-l-l.net and use IRC to get them.

One Piece - Volume 5
One Piece - Volume 6
One Piece - Volume 7
One Piece - Volume 8
One Piece - Volume 9
One Piece - Volume 10
One Piece - Volume 1
One Piece - Volume 2
One Piece - Volume 3
One Piece - Volume 4
It's because 10 comes after 1 if you think about it. Try naming it 01 instead of 1. Watch.

So why does 5 6 7 8 and 9 come before 1 2 3 4? Even without 10 in the PSP, the order is still messed up

if he copy'd and paste'd the files as agroup ( by click and dragging to select multiple files) which ever file he actually right clicked on (to choose copy) will be the first file copy'd and the rest will follow in order until the bottom of the list and then will start from the top of the list

i hope someone understands what i wrote

here is my solution. i have a 1.5 PSP and i used this to read Fullmetal Alchemist and Battle Angel Alita on my PSP. first you need to get the JPEG Sorter PC app from the downloads section. On your PC, start JPEG Sorter, choose the volume you want to organize, and run it to rename the pics in DSC format. then put the volume in the PSP/PHOTO folder on your PSP. that should solve your problem.

EDIT: I originally said you should use JPEGBook. After checking on my computer, I found out that what you need is actually called JPEG Sorter. I typed the message originally from my cell phone :( so I was trying to go off of memory. The original message has since been fixed. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.
