I fookin love my PSP.
Even with its dead pixels.
My only problem with the unit.....
When i'm on a bus/train and watching a UMD movie with my headphones on, I can hardly hear the dialogue. Even with AVLS switched off, and with the volume at maximum, I cannot make out what the actors are on about.
Is there some kind of hack or app that will increase the volume beyond the current maximum ?

I think the answer is no. There was talk about something like that a while back, but i can't find it and haven't heard about it since.

it could be possible because UMD's take advantage of higher volume, which sux i guess another way for Sony to make us buy more of ther stuff

I'm just a noob here but this is the best pair of noise cancelling style earphones that I have found and they work great for travel! I have tried a bunch and these work the best for the money ($40.00)!

Damn, I am experiencing the same problem too :( This bugs the ish outta me, to be honest :|
I mean, buying better speakers or headphones is NOT a solution here. Plus, I am pretty sure the volume CAN be raised above the limit. Shame noone has went around to this so far.
Any ideas (again, besides suggesting to press + again, buy speakers, connect to your PC and getting big-ass headphones)?

on pspupdates(yeah i know it is bad) they have a'mod' where you take out the foam inside the speakers on your psp and replace it with regular headphone mesh, they say you get a noticable increase but i dont believe them.

Hmmmm... Thats cool n stuff, BUT I personally am more after a software mod/hack rather than tearing my PSP apart (doing so is way too uncomfortable for meh :| ). Plus, as it was mentioned somewhere on the forum, games do sound louder than music so i guess it can be done after all :/
Any news on the issue? :sigh:

i like the psp headphone more then ipod 1s they are more comfortable
If you want a decent pair of noise cancelling earbuds, pick up a pair of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BN9F84/002-1574869-8763249?v=glance&n=172282
I got a pair for Christmas and the difference is amazing. They take a bit of time to get used to, as the cable goes OVER your ears, and the buds sit right inside your eardrum, but the sound is simply amazing. I can hear so much more when playing games and listening to music.
