has everyone seen the gripdock station yet? if not, it is basically a ps2 controller, widened and with the face cut off to allow the psp to sit inside of it. it enhances the psp's battery life, and has cooling vents, and saves us all from carpal tunnels....:p

intro to my idea: i am rather agitated (now dont get me wrong, i love my psp like a child of my own) with the buttons, or rather lack there-of. By removing the l2, r2, and second analog stick, sony reduced the options for games durastically. lets, for example, take a look at coded arms. while the game is pretty good for a first generation game, the controls are just.......i cant even say it. I dont like em, lets put it this way. I grew up on pc's, so simply adjusting to a console controller, like that of the ps2 was fairly challenging. Now that the psp has come out, i am finding myself irritated once again with having to ajust for certain games, and i dont see how fps games will survive on the psp.

So here is the idea: lets once again take a look at the grip dock. shaped in the tried, tested, and eternally true original psx design, we can see the psp converting to something along the lines of a ps2 controller, slightly elongated and empty without a psp in it. now, we add a little bit of programming skill. design a plug-in that is built into the controller that plugs into the usb slot on the psp. next, add spaces for the l2 and r2 buttons on the bottom of the unit. Finally, and this is the hardest part, add a sort of flip down panel that has another analog stick, a duplicate of the first psp stick, but on the other side, near the square and x.

I understand that this would probably increase the costs of the gripdock rather greatly, but think of the usefullness of it! It would open the doors for games by leaps and bounds. we could play games that were classics for the ps2, on the psp, we wouldnt have to suffer painful controlls, and fps games could flourish on the psp!

i KNOW for sure that if a product like this was developed, and games began using its features, then i would definately pick this sweat baby up.
