I highly doubt that would work, since the rumour is that the game code will look for the UMD itself.

no the code looks for a boot.bin in disc0:/ but you can edit the directory to ms0:/ instead im just not that advanced in programming

That's my understanding as well. I believe that's why people think this needs to be a bios hack. But from that I take it the UMD drive wouldn't work at all. Personaly, that's fine by me. The game will run faster off the memory stick anyway as well as use less power.

As I've said in the other thread, I'm almost 99% sure it's the game that tries to read the UMD drive. The only logical way I see around this is to have the UMD loader filter out all commands being sent to read the drive, and instead forward them or redirect them to the MS stick. Techniqually this shouldn't be too hard, except you'd have the homebrew running in the background as a parent to the game, and filtering out when it tries to read the UMD drive. I don't think this would be too hard to make. It'd be kinda like an emulator in a way.

One possible way to do this is make a debugger. Have it log all communication to the PSP from the game. This way you can see when it is trying to read the UMD drive, and foward it to the MS drive.

RaiderX is correct. That has already been tried and it failed. Worth a shot though.
