I searched this topic and didn't find anything so that's why I am posting a new thread.. Has anybody thought about stripping the card reader and trying to fit a micro drive in there? Just thinking.. I know Sony will never put a hard drive in the PSP because that would ruin the UMD and Pro Duo market but if somebody in the PSP community were to place a micro HDD in the PSP then it would rule and I am sure they would become Godly.. :D

I know about using USB-OTG on DAPs such as the iRiver H3xx and the Cowon x5 but I heard transfer times are slow.. Like 15-20 minutes to transfer a movie from the player's hdd to the PSP.. Can anybody else confirm this? If it is speedy then I can't comlain..

By the way, I just got my PSP today and it rules! I am charging it right now, can't wait!

Not sure about transfer times on the USB-OTG, but placing a multi-disk platter hard drive in a slot the dimensions of 0.06" Thick x 0.79" Wide x 1.22" Deep. Thats SMALL. I look at my card and think, d00d t|-|4tz S|/|4||!!! And making a hard drive that sticks out would ruin the portability.

This is the "smallest harddrive in the world" right now. About the size of a 500 Yen Coin. Still too big for the mem slot. And only 2-3 gigs, flash mem is and will get that big soon Would be awesome though. Maybe we will see that in the PSP2

With the way flash memory is, I think it's alot better off than an actual harddrive. Harddrives mean longer loads than flash, and are alot more fragile (not very good for a portable device.

One idea I have had is a MS emulator. If someone could rig up an adapter type MS with a USB plug on it, and hook it up to the computer, and have the computer have a program that talks through the USB acting as a memory card, vuallah your computer = the memory stick = alot more storage (and easier UMD dumps)

That might work, but who would make it? I don't think anyone would do that soon, especially with Team Xecuters hardware coming out...

Wishful thinking on that one. Would be nice to have a hdd in my PSP but not very feasable. I'm waiting with bated breath on the launch of the hardware that lets me us SD and CF cards instead of the MS pro duo, since they are cheaper

Yeah, that will be fun. What about the literal Memory STICKS? You know, the rod version. Could we use them? Do you think our USB port would accept that? It would work, just pop the Stick directly in your USB.
