The card is an official 8GB Sandisk Micro SDHC card.

I know the adapter works fine, because my official 4GB Sandisk Micro SDHC card works without a problem.

Well I copied my 4GB card to the 8GB card with my PC.

I can run movies from the 8GB card but the PSP will not recognize anything else.

The PSP won't format the 8GB card.

I also noticed the PSP will not recognize the card at all if it's completely empty.

I read something about a Patch to Load 3.71 fatmsmod on 3.80/3.90 M33 but I have no idea if this will help my problem.

If this patch will help, I have no idea what this part of the instructions mean or where I can obtain this portion of the patch.

  It is probably better idea that is encrypted because it is also compressed and use less flash space.

  Copy it from /F0/kd/fatmsmod.prx to the root.
