Notebookcheck Compiled Benchmarks

Important instructions for further researching:
-- Clicking on 3DMark05 scores in 1st column will take you to notebook reviews (if available).
-- Clicking on prices in 2nd column will take you to online shops (if available).
-- Clicking on notebok names in 4th column will take you to official sites of notebook producers (if available)

Sorted by 3DMark05 Scores (1st column - higher is better) - all default settings, no overclocking
Note1: For easier distinction font for TabletPCs is in different color than font for Notebooks.
Note2: For playing modern 3D games at medium settings/resolution look for notebooks which scored above 2000.
Notebooks which scored above 4000 are capable of playing most modern 3D games at high settings/resolution.
(Take this information just as a 'guidline', since 3DMark05 is only a synthetic benchmark - good one, but still...)

Sorted by Score/Price ratio (3rd column - higher is better)
Note: "Score/Price ratio" represents how many 3DMark05 points you get for EACH $1, in other words "speed for money".
Keep in mind though, that some notebooks have 2 GB memory vs 1 GB memory, and 2x 100 GB disk vs 100 GB disk etc.

If you have any information about improving this chart please post it here. Thank you!

All the best,
Boyan

Let me put here my personal opinion for best notebooks in specific categories based on the above tables:
-- Best value for gaming & work (3D apps etc.): Rock Xtreme CTX -- due core CPU, 2GB RAM, great portability for such power, good price
-- Best for gaming & work (3D, video editing, ...): Rock Xtreme 64 -- 64bit CPU for WinVista, 2x 100 GB HDDs (RAID!), 2GB RAM, but heavy
-- Best value for gaming: FSC Amilo Xi 1546 -- faster CPU than the Toshiba below (better for work), 2GB RAM, great price
-- Second best value for gaming: Toshiba P105-S921 -- huge 160GB disk for many space-needy games, great price
-- Fastest for gaming: Rock Xtreme SL -- much better 3DMark05 score than Dell XPS M1710! 2GB RAM, 19" LCD, but heavy
-- Most portable for gaming: Asus W3J -- very good gaming capabilities, it's thin and light (2.2kg)
-- Cheapest duo core for work but weaker gaming: Toshiba A6 -- for gaming is weaker than Dell 9300, but for multi-tasking way better
-- Cheapest of all here and still good for gaming: Dell 9300 -- for now you can still get one even under $700 (with coupon), single CPU though
-- Fastest TabletPC, good for gaming: Gateway M285-E -- it's fast, it's light, up to 8.5h battery! (adding 1GB of RAM not cheap tho, +$450)
-- TabletPC for 3D work & decent for gaming: Toshiba M7-117 -- it's fast, it's light, excellent battery life, for size it's perfect for 3D apps

That's the MSRP based on the euro. It very well may be a few bucks cheaper in the U.S. and Canada.

I've only been able to find it for around 1450. Considering that is about an average of the old price and your price, I think it is pretty fair.

Yup yup. Got my 7800GTX still pluggin away in COD4. It's been acting up though some im running COD4 in safety mode with everything turned to minimum settings. It isn't bad though because I can see snipers better in the crash alleyway because the grass is so shitty. Performance has improved slightly with some new customized mobile drivers from notebookforums. If anyone is interested, these are universal drivers (all drivers are based off the same universal design, then restricted for each model) so they work with everything. They're 32 and 64 bit and work with the latest cards.
