Comments (14)PSPKVM v0.5.4 Released: MIDP/JavaME Apps on your PSP!
greg | October 26, 2009
Over the last week or two you likely saw test builds floating around cyberspace, and now today it’s final: M@x and Sleepper’s PSPKVM v0.5.4. Oh, I should mention Anweifeng and AJ Milne too — they’re new to the PSPKVM team.
PSPKVM is a port of SUN’s phoneME Feature enabling MIDP/JavaME applications on your PlayStation Portable.
Personally I use PSPKVM + Opera Mini instead of the [shitty] PSP NetFront browser. Would you believe ACCESS CO., LTD, the company who authors/maintains NetFront, sicced their lawyers on us for hosting this. That’s some bullshit! Anyway, that’s neither here nor there… Enjoy PSPKVM!
Comments (41)PCE (Turbo Grafx 16) for PSP v0.82b4 Released *Updated*
greg | September 21, 2009
Update: PCE for PSP v0.82 BETA 4 is out. Get it below.
Serving an alternative means of Turbo Grafx 16 / PC Engine emulation is an unknown/anonymous Japanese developer with PCE for PSP v0.82b3. So should you experience bizarre behaviour with ZX-81’s PSPHUGO, or vice-versa, simply install the other and give it a shot.

I won’t bother attempting to translate the Japanese change log; the read me is a real mess. Rest assure PCE v0.82b3 has improved over whatever earlier version you may have installed.

Comments (2)PSPMSX v1.5.1: MSX Emulator Updated w/ IRDA Joy Support
greg | August 23, 2009
PSPCAP32 isn’t the only emulator sporting the 1.5.1 tag; ZX-81’s got an all new version of his PSP fMSX port too. It’s the same version number, same era, pretty much the same change log — different home computer. PSPMSX emulates the MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+.
For those who have never heard about IRDA joystick project, the goal was to connect your old DB9 joystick (compatible with Atari, Amiga, Amstrad etc …) or a paddle device to your PSP FAT. Buzz has written the driver and designed the PCB and programmed the PIC micro-controller, while I was in charge of emulator enhancements.
If you have the skills and the bills ($20 max.) you can build your own IRDA Joy Box. The schematics and source are available in the PSPMSX archive; check the contrib folder.
PSPMSX v1.5.1 changes:
- IRDA Joystick box support
- Add “IRDA joystick” device support for both DB9 Joystick and Atari Paddle
- Add menu for IRDA joystick settings and keys mapping
- Add option to choose between IRDA devices (keyboard such as Targus or joystick using Buzz device)

You may find several CPC disk images here. As well CPC game reviews so you know what’s good. Enjoy!

PSPCAP32 v1.5.1 changes:

Comments (1)Atari800 PSP v2.1.0.1 Released
greg | August 12, 2009
A quick look at the title you’d probably expect me to say, “ZX-81 has released a new Atari emulator” next. But nope, not this time. This time it’s Akop — Akop has released Atari800 PSP v2.1.0.1. And not only does it emulate the Atari 800; you get the Atari 800XL, 130XE and 5200 too.
Atari800 PSP is actually a port of this.

Atari800 v2.1.0.1 changes:
- Emulator updated to version 2.1.0
- Added ZIP file support
- PSPLIB updated to latest version: images are now saved under PSP/PHOTOS/ATARI800 PSP; virtual keyboard updated; screenshot previews in file browser

Comments (3)PSPHUGO v1.3.1: Turbo Grafx 16 / PC Engine Emulator Updated
greg | August 9, 2009
Look who’s back, it’s the undisputed champ in the classic console emulation-porting league; you know him, put your hands together for ZX-81. Download PSPHUGO v1.3.1 and you’ll be imitating the Turbo Grafx 16 or PC Engine all proper and stable like. And if you managed to pull one of these off, you’ll no doubt appreciate this version.

PSPHUGO v1.3.1 changes:
- This version of PSP-Hugo supports IRDA-Joystick box designed by my good friend Buzz (see http://buzz.computer.free.fr). Schematic and PIC source code is provided in contrib folder.
- Add “IRDA joystick” device support for both DB9 Joystick and Atari Paddle
- Add menu for IRDA joystick settings and keys mapping
- Add option to choose between IRDA devices (keyboard or joystick)
