FCEU-PSP v0.1 Released: A New PSP Nintendo Emulator
greg | November 3, 2009
I don’t know about you, but I’m sticking with NesterJ right now. Just the same, should you care to experiment, then here you go… Allan_Cesa’s (is that right?) PSP port of FCEUltra.
Features:
- Basic control pad support
- 44100Hz Sound
- SRAM support
- Save state support
TODO:
- Improve sound buffering/quality
- Add pad turbo support
- Improve video render speed/quality
And like demonolith says, a few notable games don’t work with NesterJ, but Captain Skyhawk, shit still kicks ass, on both NesterJ and FCEU-PSP.

Comments (14)PSPKVM v0.5.4 Released: MIDP/JavaME Apps on your PSP!
greg | October 26, 2009
Over the last week or two you likely saw test builds floating around cyberspace, and now today it’s final: M@x and Sleepper’s PSPKVM v0.5.4. Oh, I should mention Anweifeng and AJ Milne too — they’re new to the PSPKVM team.
PSPKVM is a port of SUN’s phoneME Feature enabling MIDP/JavaME applications on your PlayStation Portable.
Personally I use PSPKVM + Opera Mini instead of the [shitty] PSP NetFront browser. Would you believe ACCESS CO., LTD, the company who authors/maintains NetFront, sicced their lawyers on us for hosting this. That’s some bullshit! Anyway, that’s neither here nor there… Enjoy PSPKVM!
Comments (41)Snes9X Euphoria R2.1: Another PSP Super NES Emulator Released *Updated*
greg | October 19, 2009
Update: Bug fixes, bug fixes, and more bug fixes…
- Bug where you couldn’t have more than 200 roms in the ROMS folder or the emulator would crash is now fixed. (I tested with 800 roms in there)
- Bug where the emulator would freeze then hard-power-off your PSP after trying to load more than 3 roms is now fixed. (I tried loading rom after rom at least 12 times with no issues)
- Bug where you couldn’t return to the menu after running a game is now fixed. (thank god lol)
- Bug where emulator would hard-power-off PSP when exiting rather than return to the Xmb is now fixed (both in file menu and main menu)
- Bug where the emulator wouldn’t start on Gen firmware fixed (tested by myself on 5.50GenC and Cmbeke on 5.50GenB)
- Possible minor speedups from code cleanup.
- Removed the intro screen for now. (will be configurable in the next build)
And if you grabbed R2 elsewhere, please download the new R2.1 release. It fixes another bug when loading a new rom.
Zack dips into the emulation pot and cooks up his own SNES (or Super Nintendo) emulator based off Rukka’s Snes9xTyl recipe. And of course it all stems from Laxer3a and YoyoFR’s work. So props to all involved and to all downloading this fine release.
Personally I’m not finding much difference between this version and the version released last week. We demonstrated Clay Fighter 2 here and in terms of FPS and speed, Snes9X Euphoria R1 pretty much delivers the same bang.
Zack notes –
At the moment you will only see the speedups with the following setting… Renderer: PSP Accelerated, and to get more juice: Frameskip @ 2/3

greg | September 21, 2009
Update: PCE for PSP v0.82 BETA 4 is out. Get it below.
Serving an alternative means of Turbo Grafx 16 / PC Engine emulation is an unknown/anonymous Japanese developer with PCE for PSP v0.82b3. So should you experience bizarre behaviour with ZX-81’s PSPHUGO, or vice-versa, simply install the other and give it a shot.

I won’t bother attempting to translate the Japanese change log; the read me is a real mess. Rest assure PCE v0.82b3 has improved over whatever earlier version you may have installed.

Comments (5)DSONPSP BETA 4 + Source Released: Nintendo DS Emulator Updated
greg | August 25, 2009
Update: BETA 4 alongside the [not-so-clean] source code have been released…
- More speed
- Game freeze fixes
Update: OK, so maybe DBZ2 isn’t completely playable at 15 FPS. Certain stages of the game slow down while other screens load and respond rather well. Nonetheless, props Yoshihiro.
It’s getting there all right, slowly but surely… So for the naysayers, the non-believers, and the skeptics crying, “It’ll never be playable because…” Wah wah wah… Like James Bond, never say never (again).
Get a load of this — Yoshihiro’s latest DSONPSP release jamming an FPS increase, from 7 to 15, in Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2, which I believe is the DBZ2 acronym in this BETA 3 change log. I’d say that’s pretty good.
DSONPSP BETA 3 Changes:
- Updated GPU, MMU, DMA, RTC and Branch stuff
- Speed up in DBZ2 to 15fps; old release ran at 7fps
- Updated gfx3d core from DeSmume core 9.4
- Added debug information; give your results when games freeze
- Removed CPU Ratio Hack
