Comments (96)It was promised quite awhile ago, but here it is — a working firmware 3.11 homebrew enabler (HEN) & downgrader — as Noobz put it, “a solution to help people trapped on firmware 3.11 by Sony’s dirty tricks”. With that said, welcome to the new era of homebrew and custom firmwares, young Padawan learners. Note: you still require a UMD copy of Lumines.
As you may know, if you have a TA-082/TA-086 motherboard , then if you downgraded your PSP to v1.50, its idstorage keys will have been patched during downgrading to avoid bricking. The latest official Sony firmwares (3.30 onwards) detect this patch, and refuse to allow you to upgrade. Without a hardware solution, this can leave you trapped on v3.11 firmware, with no way to upgrade, and no way to downgrade.
Everything you need to know is in README.TXT.
Thanks for sticking to your guns, Fanjita and Noobz. And of course props to Dark_AleX for his HEN code.

Comments (14)Just when you thought it couldn’t get any easier, PSP Upgrader/Downgrader v1.11 hits the scene with a vengeance. Bob_joe has released a new version with the added touch of custom firmware Leaked Edition. Users will also notice PSP Upgrader/Downloader v1.11 [Lite] features direct downloading of the required firmware EBOOTs. Otherwise — everything else comes packaged within.

Side note: unpatched GTA:LCS or Lumines UMD is still required depending on which firmware you’re downgrading from, 3.03 or 3.50.

Comments (82)Forum member “Bob Joe” has written a Windows app for complete simplicity when it comes to upgrading and/or downgrading your PSP’s firmware. Over in the forum thread you’ll notice two versions — Lite and Full. While the full version may seem more appealing, it’s quite a hefty download… I suggest using the Lite version — it packages the most recent M33-2 update and is significantly smaller in size. You will however be tasked with the responsibility of downloading the necessary firmware updates; luckily for you, we have them all right here. Other requirements included.

Comments (94)All [unpatched] versions of Lumines are now supported when it comes to downgrading a PSP running firmware 3.50. The N00bz have provided an update to their 3.50 Homebrew-enabler (HEN) / Downgrader which adds final support for the Korean version of Lumines, ULKS46005. At last we can all enjoy homebrew! Except those who have updated to 3.51 — tsk tsk.
Running a lower firmware version (< 3.50)? Update to 3.50, then downgrade! Running a later version (> 3.50)? You’re out of luck, sorry. :(

Comments (54)Even with Dark_AleX leaving the scene behind, we will trudge forward and continue the on-going battle of PSP Hackers Vs. Sony! And to prove my point, Team N00bz have released an updated 3.50 downgrader compatible with the Japanese version (ULJS00005 and ULJS19005) of Lumines. The updated package works with US, EU, and JP versions.
Actually, 0okm and HellDrive have released their own fully Japanese compatible downgrader as well.
Both are said to function fine, so it’s up to you. Just ensure you carefully read the supplied documentation of whichever you choose.

Comments (71)It’s here — the PSP 3.50 downgrader! All thanks to Noobz and the Illuminati! No time for chitter-chatter…
Requirements:
But! Before you start, some important notes:
If you have a TA082+ motherboard and you downgrade to 1.50, currently you will be unable to upgrade to 3.30+ Sony firmware. This is due to Sony blocking updates when the PSP has been modified to run 1.50. There will be an application released later which will allow users to revert the changes. If you are using a TA082 motherboard then I would suggest just using 1.50 or OE until an application is released.
DOWNGRADE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

A minor update… A message to foreign readers… It would seem the Illuminati exploit doesn’t work correctly when the PSP is using non-English settings; presumably it’s something to do with the unicode set while displaying the profile name. Set your PSP to English and give it a try.
Anyway, if you are having problems, especially with the European Lumines, then try switching your PSP to ‘English’ settings.
Devastation strikes! The “N00bz!” have yet again left the entire PSP community in a state of awe. Without a doubt, in the coming days, everyone will have the opportunity to downgrade, enjoy glorious custom firmwares, homebrew, and much more… This newly discovered exploit works in a similar fashion to the GTA save game hole; however, this time ’round you’ll require a legal UMD copy of Lumines. Read on…
That’s right - if you’ve got a legal UMD copy of Lumines, then you can run homebrew on your PSP - whatever the firmware version. That includes v3.50! Right now, the only homebrew is the Hello World demo released below - but in future we intend to release a HEN and downgrader.
- Check that you have an EU or US version of Lumines (ULES00043 or ULUS10002). Currently we don't have a version for the Japanese version, but we're working on it, as soon as we get hold of a Japanese UMD.
- Extract the contents of the 'MS_ROOT' folder from the ZIP file into the top-level of your memory stick. (HINT: If you wind up with an 'MS_ROOT' folder on the stick, you've done it wrong).
- Start the game, and as soon as it gets to the 'Press START' screen, press START. If you wait until the demo has started, the exploit may not work.
- The screen should go blank, and the exploit will start after a few moments. It doesn't do anything except look pretty at this stage - but feel free to enjoy the first homebrew on your v3.10 - v3.50 PSP

Comments (233)We want Chilly Willy! We want Chilly Willy!
Chilly Willy has released a new easy-to-use homebrew app which displays the current state of the PSP’s IdStorage [for TA-082/86 models]. Not only that, it will detect any commonly known problems caused by old downgraders, provide a suitable recommendation for your particular scenario, and then make the required corrections. One more thing — it can dump the keys too!

Controls:
If you press the CROSS key, you will be taken to the Fix Keys screen. You will be shown a summary of the status of the IdStorage keys, along with a suggested action to take. If the keys don’t need fixing, it will say so, and your only choice of action is to return to the initial screen. Depending on how you downgraded your PSP, you may have one or two choices to fix the keys. One way requires a dump on the memstick of the keys from a stock PSP. You may call the folder anything you wish as long as it is in the same folder as the KeyCleaner EBOOT file. Choosing to fix the keys from files on the memstick will step through each folder in the KeyCleaner folder, showing the status and state of the keys in each folder. Press CIRCLE to skip to the next folder on the memstick. Press CROSS to select the current folder as the source of the files used to fix the keys.
I highly recommend reading over the ever-so important ‘readme.pdf’ or ‘readme.txt.’

Comments (36)After much praise from the fine IRC’ers in #psp-hacks, Team Reign has released what they call the “Complete AIO Upgrading & Downgrading Package.” Complete AIO (All-in-one) is a collection of packages to assist noobs with downgrading any PSP — from firmware 1.51 through to 3.03.
All 5 installers are packaged using ADePSP’s PSP Installer.
If you’re running any FW below 2.80 (1.51, 2.71, etc…), you’ll want to upgrade first using “280EasyUp” and then downgrade back to 1.50 using “280EasyDown.” You could also go straight to 3.03 — see below.
If you’re running a firmware version between 2.80 and 3.03 (2.81, 3.01, etc…) you’ll want to use “303EasyUp” and back to 1.50 with “303EasyDown.” — You get the idea. And yes, the unpatched Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories UMD is still required.
After you’re staring in awe at your new 1.50 PSP… Why not upgrade it to Dark_AleX’s 3.03 OE-C with “303OEC_EASY.”
Although the installers include everything and copy everything to the correct location on your memory stick, I still recommend reading through the included text files for guidance and any potential gotchas.
As with any downgrader: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
