TempAR v1.1 Released – Now with POPs Support!

greg | July 30, 2010

Y’all cheaters need to update right away if you’re using raing3′s PSPAR… In fact, forget the name PSPAR — it’s TempAR now — and TempAR just got a whole lot better. You’ll see what I mean by glancing over the TempAR v1.1 changes. I’m talking POP support, a NitePR code converter, plenty of fixes, and all around awesomeness.

NitePR PSPAR Mod Screenshot

Instructions:

  1. Copy the whole TempAR directory to seplugins and add the appropriate line — ms0:/seplugins/TempAR/tempar.prx 1 — to game.txt.
  2. Start your game and press the “Home” button twice followed by a simultaneous press of VOL UP + VOL DOWN.
  3. Enable whatever cheats and press “Note” to activate ‘em.

Changes, download…

TempAR v1.1:

  • [+] Added POPS and homebrew support, thanks to Davee for information on getting the Game ID without the need for the daunting task of parsing the PARAM.SFO. Please note that homebrew PARAM.SFO files need to be patched so the Game ID isn’t the same for all homebrew. Also keep in mind that CWCheat POPS files are not compatible. The codes need to be in either PSPAR or CWCheat PSP format.
  • [+] Settings can now be saved so there is no need to re-configure on each load!
  • [+] Added support for loading from different cheat.db files.
  • [+] Added PC NitePR to PSPAR code converter.
  • [+] Added comment mode paramater to the PSPAR bin converter. Use 0 to prepend all comments with a # or 1 to prepend folders with _C1 and comments with _C2.
  • [+] Codes which have no code lines are highlighted and have no Y/N before their name. This is to allow for in-game comments.
  • [!] Fixed problem loading the colours from a file.
  • [!] Fixed screenshot option, forgot to set the option in the makefile, whoops.
  • [!] Fixed the 0xD1 PSPAR code type.
  • [?] Offset is only added to PSPAR conditional codes if the address used is 0.
  • [?] Added an aditional check to CWCheat pointer codes to help prevent a crash with bad codes and uninitialized pointers.
  • [?] Cheat device is now known as “TempAR”. “Temp” because GBAtemp is my online home and “AR” because it supports “AR” codes. To further expand on this the Temp is what CW is to CWCheat and AR I guess is what PR is to NitePR. Plus it can be pronounced temper woot! (thanks to xist for the suggestion).

    first..

Hey, Do you know what I love? Why yes! Custom Firmware that will keep the scene alive, instead of pussy-footing around with updates.

    • raing3 says:

Why do you troll the PSP-Hacks blog for?

You have posted on many of the other blog entries the very same thing. Posting “custom firmware please” over and over again isn’t going to help at all. Plus it requires quite a great level of knowledge and time. The most recent CFW source available is the 3.4X Wildcard CFW (?), I’m guessing it would require a lot of work to get that working on a 6.XX firmware base with all the different stuff Sony has done to stop homebrew and the PSP-2000 being released since 3.4.

Plus when a new team come out with a CFW they seem to usually just get flamed non-stop “OMG! Why no working with my custom themes”, “broke game categories, i’m not using this!”, “o noes this is buggy just like gen piece of shit”, “this bricked my PSP”. Users expect everything perfect on first release. Examples of developers being hated on would be M33 (before people knew it was dark-alex and co.) and GEN who people have now started retreating to so they can pirate easier.

I know I would fail miserably at making a CFW so I haven’t really spent much time trying to make my own.

May I ask why you haven’t released a CFW yourself?

All of the people who feel the need to go around posting stuff like this or “first..”, “i like trains…”, etc. Just degrade the quality of the blog which is very disappointing because greg clearly puts a lot of work into getting quality users to the site with the whole shirt give-away thing, the $1000 homebrew competition, the various other competitions I have seen for a PSP Go and the like and probably most importantly the well written blog entries. He bothers to do screenshots, sometimes even makes a video. Greg also rarely (if ever) directly copy-pastas his new from another site, he actually takes the time to re-word the content and also bothers to go back and reply to comments.

As if nobody’s working on it…
Anyways thanks for the update, also a “Kill TempAR” function or something to stop the plugin for the session to save a bit of room after you cheated.

    • raing3 says:

Thanks. I will have a look at implementing that in the next update. :)

      • 5h4d0w says:

When I was working on my cheat device, I had a function that would empty the code buffer and disable any that were running. It would also re-load the cheats if you wanted to cheat again later. People seemed to like that idea better than the kill-it-once-and-have-to-restart-later function of CoderPR. So you might want to give that a try ;)

        • raing3 says:

Well I’ve already implemented the kill function as it was only a matter of a single line of code to stop the cheat engine. If I have enough space in the interface I may add an option to remove the currently loaded codes though.

  5. Rin says:

By all means I am not trying to sound like an ungreatfull dick right now, but WTF is the point in pops support if it don’t support the native psx cheat device format?

Also thanks, I don’t really cheat much but these tools have much more use ;-D

    • raing3 says:

I intended to add a cheatpops converter in the PC folder (if you look at pspar.txt you will see mention of it which I forgot to remove). But I was having some problems with it so I just left it out in this release.

The POPS support was primarily intended for the few PS1 games Datel has made cheats for in their pspar_codes1.bin file.

  6. Zasisem says:

thanks raing3,very very useful all the time :)

  7. Thanks for your time and effort.

  8. Tim Snow says:

Is this a replacement for cwcheat or just another similar cheat device like nitepr???

Does it do anything cwcheat doesn’t???

  9. Goro san says:

    i’ll stick with cwcheat…

ps. chcheat DOES suport PSX format codes

  10. Cool says:

    this is very good.
the only thing missing is the ability to apply .pat files into a game and the ability to take screenshots.
Adding those will make this the ultimate cheating device

  11. rohan says:

    First off…
    1. raing… this cheat device is probably the best one Ive ever seen… it is absolutely fantastic. The only reason I didn’t use CWCheat before was because the GUI was not the greatest, and the only reason I used MKUltra was because of the cool GUI. This cheat device does both of that, and therefore is truly great.

    2. All of the dicks out there who want a new CFW, and are too stupid to make one themselves, may I ask why? Making CFW is no easy task, as it involves extensive knowledge of C/C++, and the PSP system, something only a select few like the great fellows from GEN or the M33 teams know how to accomplish. And even for them it takes at least a couple months to make a new CFW. So dont go being a troll on a well created blog like PSP Hacks complaining about new CFW’s when a current one can do everything you need it to do plus more… (right now I am running 5.00 M33-6 w/ 1.50 Kernel). I have PSN thanks to PSN Lover and much, much more.

    3. raing3, about the Kill function that toolman suggested, I saw a source code file floating around either HaxCommunity or OHG a while back (not sure which) when CoderPR was just being developed, perhaps you could look around there if you need help. (sorry, I tried to learn C/C++ but I just don’t like programming, so I don’t know any techie stuff :D)

I truly hope you will not be discouraged by any ungrateful asshats here and continue your great work n this cheat device. I really cant help much in the programming department, but if you ever need any graphics for anything, feel free to contact me at OHG (my username is robofreak111).

  12. Thanks..!!! Great job…!!!
Does this supports gameshark codes in pops…???
    Keep doing that great work…!!!
    Greetings.

  13. Raul says:

    nice update
have you noticed that on some games there are codes on both .db??

    • raing3 says:

That is intentional. The first cheat database is a pre-converted pspar_codes1.bin from pspar.com and the second cheat file is the CWCheat format database I am maintaining. This gives the user the opportunity to try codes using both the CWCheat and PSPAR cheat engines.

  14. vin35 says:

great cheat device.. the only problem is it freezes on my MGSPW(EUR) every time i go to MISSION PREP. and also when i use my PSP Filer V6.6, some of the menu doesn’t show up. so i end up disabling it and went back using CWCHEAT.. i hope you fix this on your next update.

    • raing3 says:

Well I don’t think the cheat engine should freeze Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, do you have any cheats active at that point of the game? If so maybe the cheats are buggy/not working or shouldn’t be enabled at that point in the game?

As for the PSP Filer problem I will check that out. I think it is probably caused by the prompt which is displayed when the game is started asking the user to press Home twice followed by VOLUP+VOLDOWN. If that is the problem I will just remove it cause it isn’t all that useful anyway and looks messed up in quite a few games.

      • vin35 says:

in the case of MGSPW, even if i haven’t activate any cheat yet, it still freezes, from the point i press the X at MISSION PREP.. the screen just goes black then nothing.
i even disabled my other GAME related plug-ins but still nothing.. when i disable the cheat engine, the game doesn’t freeze anymore..

  15. bladera34 says:

Guys, what does the “Note” mean? Do you need to press something, or what? . And at the top right corner, it says “CHEATS OFF”. What do I need to do to get it to ON? Sorry for being a noob

    • raing3 says:

The Note key toggles the cheat engine between “CHEATS OFF” and “CHEATS ON”. It is the button located between the button which changes the screen brightness and the select button.

  16. gameloader says:

I am having a little hard time with the enable cheat ON and OFF Note Key. Every time I selected the codes and hit the Note button and it does noting. It still show Cheat OFF. But the code actually works. Then I went in again and check it still says Cheat OFF. No matter how many time I hit the Note button the interface still show Cheat OFF. By the way I am using this for MGSPW with CFW 5.50 GenD and updated to 5.50 Prometheus. Hope this helps.

  17. keane_three says:

Raing3…i have a bad problem… like the other guy kinda but i got you tempar v1.1 on MGSPW and the game works, as soon as i want to CO ops the wifi dont work and cant connect, so i have to disable your plugin ( so i can play its a bit like when i play monster hunter unite eu with cw and nitepr with loads of codes ready to be used, so i have disable one of them before going multiplayer…

    • raing3 says:

Does the problem happen with MKULTRA?

Also do you have any other plugins active? If you have a few other cheat device plugins/memory intensive plugins active at the same time there isn’t much I can do about it as there is very little RAM available.

The most I could probably do is reduce the number of codes which can be loaded per game or remove some of the functions such as the Corrupt PSID and USB.

Also I am unable to replicate this problem on my own as I have no access to a PSP compatible wifi connection any more. As well as that I really don’t want to encourage online cheating.

  18. BoNeZz says:

who cares about this hbl r 96 is out!!!!!!! yay!!!!!!!!!111

  19. BoNeZz says:

ROAWR!!!!!!!!!!!! hbl!!!!!!!!!! fastest on ever i loves it but if u haf 6.20 it runs like r 95 :(

  20. keane_three says:

hmm…….i have only tempar active, mkultra works… yeah it only happens on wifi, adhock and online………… off topic i was hacking on mgspw with zeke and outer op text hack, and lock empty solder, changed names of Alpha spuad saved and now my team are alway in outer ops when they not, cant get rid…and on darkfrost i saved codes and didnt save!? xd

  21. raing3 says:

I think I found the problem with network connections in MGS: PW. I have fixed it properly in the next update but as a temporary fix you can just change the first byte in your config.bin file from “01″ to “00″.

In the next version you will still have to remove the old config.bin file to fix this problem however.

This solution was tested and working on MGW: PW [EU] with ad-hoc.
