PSP Firmware 6.31 Released

Right on schedule — Sony releases PSP Firmware 6.31. I reckon you don’t update. We’ll keep you posted on any findings.
I repeat: DO NOT UPDATE. If you update you will lose all homebrew capabilities. No homebrew, no plugins, no nothing. I would only suggest you update and check it out if your PSP is Pandora-enabled.
Update: Niiice… J416 is reporting (see here) that his exploit is indeed working on 6.31. I guess keeping the game name secret wasn’t such a bad idea after all. Still — don’t update — not yet.

Edit:Nope somethings wrong with this OFW 6.31,i know i have Pandora and downgrade but my psp’s busted,cant i tell sony to replace it because of the 6.30 Update? it messed up my PSP’s browser bigtime

Okay, so OFW 6.31 has a major browser bug, now there’s defiantly a reason not to update. Maybe this could be useful though… Or just a useless major bug. I’ll see what I come up with.
One more thing, very shocking if they found a way to prevent pandora.

They cannot block pandoras on pandora-enabled psp’s. Firmware does not control the response to the pandora battery, otherwise it would have stopped working a looooong time ago. Besides that, sony used to fix PSP’s in their labs using a pandora battery like device.
I know that. I said that pandora comment in a joking matter. But still thought. Crazy if in a year or 2 they completely stop CFW.

omg i reckon sony are gonna keep releasing stupid, useless updates and nobody is going to update. Do you think sony will try and get people to update by adding new things to there updates? And P.S: I looked at the 6.30 download and there has only been 155 downloads, DO NO UPDATE PPL!

i have found an bug in the web browser. its a .swf file. it will play but after a few seconds the psp will freeze(not crash)… sry for my bad english

If they messed with the web browser than they’re probably was a bug in it… And the browser is kernel mode…

I don’t want to sound so ungrateful but you say no update but no one has found a method of downgrading without a Pandora battery ..just like on the older firmwares… i haven’t updated my psp ,yet.

ehh I have an idea, im not sure if it’d work im kind of new to this stuff, BUT, what if somehow you created a virus that say, removes, the filter stopping you from downgrading firmware via UMD updates, etc, as to allow downgrading to lower firmware and thus, gaining 1337 ub3r skillz haxor powerz over Sony, until they shutdown the site, fucking companies, being the GMs of the internet.
well i have the update 6.31 on my psp . i have not updated i still have 6.30 . id like to tell u all something . now u cnt acess psn store on psp w/t updating but if u download games to media go without psp plugged then after downloaded transfer to psp using mediago. talk to me on aim . im seeingblind2.lets beat sony
what exactly does the pandora battery do? and people have found a way to downgrade IF you have a pandora battery, however, would detaching your battery and plugging in your psp eliminate the need for a pandora?
Or better yet, what if your computer got a virus and then exploded, killing you with the shrapnel? It`s actually more likely to happen.

•load it from recovery menu
•play home-brew
•play ISO’s
•and play non-patched ISO (through the OFW boot)

A Pandora Battery puts the system into whats basically a system restore mode, when you put it in the system goes into this mode and comes up with a special menu Sony put in to fix bricked PSPs and change FWs

A friend of mine from US. he sent me a PSP slim model 2001, another friend instaled for me a homebrew firmware M-33, I think)….and ……of course, I have done the HUGE MISTAKE to install the upgrade to 6.31 from official site of Sony.No more games on iso or cfs, no more videos. Now , my son every day is asking why he cannot play anymore “Jack and Daxter”….Dady, I’m punished?….
What can I say? I’m not a computer whiz to solve the problem and I could not even to acces the recovery( is opening straight with PSP logo)….any advice?
