Custom Firmware M33 6.20 Plugin Released; Play 6.00+ Required Games on 5.00 M33-6 *Updated*

greg | July 10, 2010

Update: Torky has released a new version of the M33 6.20 plugin, which enables support for the PSP-450, the redesigned Go!Cam bundled with Invizimals. Firmware 6.20 support + Go!Cam (PSP-450) support = Invizimals on 5.00 M33. But first there are a few steps you need to take:

  1. Download PSP Firmware Update 6.20 and Psardumper.
  2. Create the directory “kd620″ on your memory stick; ms0:/kd620
  3. Using Psardumper on the 6.20 firmware update, dump and decrypt usbcam.prx and usbmic.prx.
  4. Copy the two files, usbcam.prx and usbmic.prx, to ms0:/kd620.
  5. Copy this plugin, m33_620.prx and m33_620_user.prx, to ms0:/seplugins.
  6. Activate m33_620.prx in ms0:/seplugins/game.txt.

And you’re done. That should be it. Now I think it’s cool we host the M33 6.20 plugin. So grab the updated version below. If that’s not cool, Torky, let us know.

By a show of [virtual] hands: how many CFW 5.00 M33-6 users still out there? Yeah… That’s what I thought. Well, good news, this — Torky’s M33 6.20 plugin — is for you. Activate m33_620.prx in game.txt and you’re playing 6.20-required games on beloved custom firmware 5.00 M33.

We have an ongoing discussion and some other things you may want to know in our forums right here. I suggest you sift through that if you’re having difficulties.

And to respect Torky’s wishes we’re not hosting the M33 6.20 Plugin. If you understand German, feel free to participate in testing at the source link.

Good lookin’, Ryu.

  1. Organized_Chaos says:

I hate this developer. He needs to let people host his shit on other sites. I refuse to use this because of that.

    • killerener99 says:

      http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RCAW0CMG
There now you can use it because it’s hosted somewhere else.

    • Tipped OuT says:

Do you hate McDonalds because they don’t let Carl’s Jr. sell their burgers? Use your brain.

Whether or not the developer wants his work to be hosted on other sites, is his choice. Not that big of a deal to hate him for it.

      • Organized_Chaos says:

It’s because he has it hosted on a site in another language and says he’ll stop working on it if it gets hosted on another website. Yes I know there is Google Translate but its just his stuck up way of thinking that is dumb.

  2. 1UP says:

that’s a stupid reason to not use something

  3. Jessie James says:

Well im on Gen d3 myself. Anybody on m33 -6 can test this to see if it runs PSN demo’s ? I have yet to get any of the demo’s to play on any CFM.

  4. Archangel says:

Is possible to downgrade from prometheus to 5.00 m33?

  5. Alberto says:

I installed it on gen d3 when it came out and downloaded some demos and they didnt work :( on my psp phat

  6. Dave says:

Yes you can downgrade, just run the 5.00 m33 update and it should be fine. Worked for me at least, on a 1000.

I wish someone really educated in this field, would truly explain the pros and cons in depth to using 5.00 m33-6 or gende prometheus. If someone is willing, or will provide a link to a solid explanation, I would be very greatful.

    • Organized_Chaos says:

5.00 M33 has the 150 kernel addon. 5.50 GEN-D3 has better compatibility with newer games by default. It’s just a matter of opinion on which one is better. Most of the people use M33 firmwares because they think DA is a god and they worship him by using his firmware.

      • Ripper says:

Yeah, more compatable with 5 whole games that require 5.50. Most gen users are arrogant fucktards that suck gen`s dick. See? I can make sweeping generalizations about a group of people too.

        • DSpider says:

Yeah, 5.50 “requirement” which can be hex edited out. But who wants to get their hand dirty, am I right ?

I only know of FIFA 10 that “requires” 5.50 and I think Soul Calibur (because these work on 5.50 GEN-B2 if I’m not mistaken). The rest are probably Japanese games. But you can find them on public torrent trackers as already patched, you know. So what’s the problem ?

    • Mr. Shizzy says:

      Advantages of 5.00 M33-6

      - 1.50 kernel add on for PSP 1000 users
      - LEDA 0.2 Add on for PSP 2000 users
      - Memory stick speed up option makes .cso games play much smoother
      - IR Shell dual task mode

These are distinct advantages of using M33 over other cfw

  7. john says:

This is a very nice update. I’ll wait to see what the consensus on this is before i download it, though.

  8. itsFAIZ says:

when I first saw the post while the site was loading, I really thought it was a new CFW by DAX .. hahha !! it was like .. “FINALLY… F*** IT!! “

  9. Day2Day says:

Yeah, I thought the same thing, and my heart sped up for a moment… I miss DAX… He’s sort of drifted off into the realm of Half-Life 2: Episode 3 and Duke Nukem Forever, though…

  10. z2442 says:

For a sec I thought he was back I was like “F**k YEA” but i was wrong good work to the dev! -z

  11. BoNeZz says:

hmmmmm good for my 2000 but i could really use stuff for hbl too

  12. krl says:

maybe dax is now fighting with other problems like hunger in 3rd world coutries

  13. BoNeZz says:

    i think im hungry!!!!! lol

  14. Zaisem says:

I thought this has been out for about 2 months now?
If anyone uses MHU free store you know what im talking about, this plugin has been released already, other wise this is an update for this plugin for m33 users?
im not sure but ive been using this for quite a while now

  15. @ # ? £ |) says:

  16. ht says:

Everyone, this thing does not work with A LOT of ISOs.

And your save files won’t work either!

Upgrade to gen and get prometheus instead. It’s much better.

  17. Flippy125 says:

Oh wow… Way to get me all excited… the first thing I saw was “Custom Firmware M33 6.20″ and didn’t bother to read the rest of the title

  18. CowsRule says:

Isnt this plugin a few weeks old now? I thought there was something released like this a few weeks ago. Either way, its nice to see people still working on things for 5.00 m33 :D

  19. Acid_1 says:

    Lol I thought it was CFW 6.20 M33… Now I’m sad :’(

  20. Mac2468 says:

Haha I misread it as: CFW 6.20 M33 Released, and I was like “Holy shit M33 isn’t dead.” but then I read it again.

  21. Decius says:

I don’t understand why people need to worry about Plugins? If you patch the games manually all of them work :s

    • lilmnm-kamikaze- says:

exactly dont look to cut corners cause in the end you will just get cut

      • Decius says:

Yea really ;D I thought someone out there would have the same idea, ha. There’s always more of a hassle trying to enable the PRX’s/homebrew to enable newer games to play; yet some of them don’t even work half the time or are out-dated.

If you patch your games manually you won’t have to worry about any of this, seeing as you are going to be keeping the patched ISO(s) why not do that instead ( -_-)

  22. Adam says:

    I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS.
I finally snapped and swapped to Gen YESTERDAY!!!
I can’t be doing with the agro of flashing it back, though.

  23. Tipped OuT says:

That’s right, no more buggy GEN. Aww yeah.

  24. JC says:

Man this almost gave me a heart attack. I almost thought it was 6.30 M33. lol

  25. Croosboy says:

i was like omGGGGGG. and then oh a plug-in

  26. ricosuavez says:

just wondering what is the user pluging for ,the last version did not have one
good to see it updated anyway

    thanks

  27. Sorrow says:

WOW! This is great, m33 owns! we still alive! :D

  28. shadow says:

did anyone try to erase all the written codes on the flash 0 of a psp 3000 v6.20 then replace it using the codes of a psp 3000 v5.03?

  29. butt says:

    im gonna go fall in a puddle and die now.. i thought it was cfw for 6.20.. ;__;

  30. Jayzen Freeze says:

Thats why you have to read it all first lol.

  31. Kanan says:

Well, I’m gonna be getting Hellcat’s Recovery Flasher now.

  32. luther349 says:

same when i saw 6.20 m33 i was like oh da came back to kick team gen into the dust.then it was just a plugin :(

  33. trazsher20 says:

my psp 3000 is version 5.50 its possible to downgrade to 5.03 or no?

    thanks…

  34. Flyer says:

dunno, isn’t working for me at all

    and trazsher20, no. impossible

  35. Ajay says:

!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so angry on how long CFW 6XX is takin, i dont care about all this i just want my 6.20 psp hacked ALREADY! :(

    • DSpider says:

Yeah, you need to calm the fuck down. What you’re asking is for an ISO loader so you can pirate games and not have to actually pay for them. 6.20 is already hacked. You can load emulators and shit on it (double meaning, I know).

You may not care about this much but many many people, millions of PSP users on cfw DO care about such things. Don’t be hating everyone else that wasn’t dumb enough to upgrade past 5.03 (or recently purchase a PSP that came with newer firmware).

  36. Ajay says:

sorry i have calmed down a bit, all the psp hackers would be amazin if the could make a 6.2O hack, so why can’t constantly focus on it, instead of making useless homebrew apps and emulators?

  37. silas says:

I actually used the thought at the top of the page and used Google Translate on the German forum page. Found you need to put ms0:/seplugins/m33_620.prx 1 in your game.txt but the broken English also found some comments about putting something in the vsh.txt. I’m not sure if this is the same thing or if your string would be for the user file like so ms0:/seplugins/m33_620_user.prx 1. Only thing I had to try it on was a raw KHBBS.iso which was said at the beginning didn’t work.

  38. SonyCorpImposter? says:

Stop trying to piss off sensative developers, he might stop deveoping hebrew / hacks =)

  39. Ajay says:

We want 6.20 CFW, cmon dev!!!! =]

  40. butt says:

maybe this is the start to 6.20 cfw? :)

  41. Evan says:

Guys, I’m not a dev, and I dont know crap about hacking. But stop whining about a new CFW. If you really want a new one, figure this shit out for yourself. It’s not like its a simple stroll through the park. From what I understand we are forced to wait for some sort of game or application exploit that will give us access to a form of kernal mode. It’s not the devs fault no one has found one yet(and leaked the potential ones before we could use them properly). So instead of bitching, how about you go and do some research and go find something for the devs to use.

And stop pissing off the developers, it’s YOUR fault the psp mod scene is dying. Be happy what these people make for you. They aren’t you servants.

  42. p5phXX0rz says:

    ^^^Word^^^

  43. wmxp says:

The M33 / Gen war seems so foolish to me. They are just different approaches that appeal to different people. Gen was built around the pegasus.prx to add decryption capabilities for newer games, and the Prometheus addon was just to compliment that fruther.
Users who like the simplicity of being able to just run a game and have it work first time are drawn to Gen and vigilantly defend it.

Users who continue to use M33, myself included, do so for a variety of reasons. For me, I find games load much faster and more of the plugins I’m interested in have better compatibility. Remotejoy for instance, I get a smooth and steady 30fps in MGSPW using M33, but it’s almost unplayable using Gen. It doesn’t mean I don’t like Gen, it’s just not suitable for my needs.

The “show of hands” comment for people “still” using M33 seems very dull and jaded. So there’s a big more leg work involved with some games, whatever. It’s a solid and proven base.

On a side note, it’s always better to manually decrypt your software at the core level than require a seperate process todo it for you on the fly IF performance is what you seek. Extra modules only serve to increase resource overhead.

    • Tipped OuT says:

      I still use 5.00 M33-6 cause..

      1. Speed Up MS (the Speed Up MS Hack for GEN sucks and is buggy)

      2. Stability (no crashes, no glitches, no bugs)

      3. No reason to use GEN (I don’t play the newer games, if I do, I just download the patched version of the game)

So yeah, I don’t still use M33 because I’m some “DAX fanboy”.

In my opinion, GEN’s only advantage is its built in game decryption… but now even M33 is starting to have a bit of light shed in that area.

  44. REFLXUSA says:

THE LINK FOR 620 0FW IS BAD, mine came back with the file is corrupt

  45. Rockman-X says:

Runs Persona 3 portable without patching on M33-6, so I’ve got no complaints.

  46. Dumbass says:

So this isn’t for those with OFW 6.20, right?

  47. nightserk says:

does this work on UMD games that require the update?

  48. haniaj says:

that mean you didn’t try to install fast memory on gen cfw bro!it works!with the same fatms hombre!you should try things before said they wouldn’t work

  49. mark says:

when i enable the plugins none of my older games work like monster hunter or china town wars anyway else having this issue?

  50. Mahluk Asing says:

Nice….For me I think any cfw that can play recent games that’s enough for me whether it’s M33 or Gen they are all the same for me

I’ll just wait any new cfw without any these plugins.

    Peace..

    • DSpider says:

Well, you can internalize plugins to load from flash0 in case you didn’t know. And you can also modify a certain “version.txt” (also in flash0) and name it whatever the fuck you want. Would that make you feel better ?

  51. DSpider says:

Raising [virtual] hand here. I haven’t felt the need (nor do I feel it right now) to update to GEN. I distinctly remember 5.50 OFW didn’t bring that much to the table and GEN screwing up with GEN-C and GEN-D3 (the “beta” that so many people got burned with).

I think 5.00 M33-6 has the most compatibility with homebrew and plugins and there’s ISO Tool 1.55 UR (which comes with the latest Prometheus right now). Patched some games with Game Decrypter and EDecrypt for a while there. Not so bad. But now that there’s ISO Tool, you can patch them in under 30 seconds so what’s the big deal ? You only have to patch them ONCE. Oh, and there’s also the option to download the games already patched.

    • DSpider says:

People need to understand that GEN is a choice.

Sure, GEN decrypts the bulk of the older games, true. But since the new games (like Toy Story 3, PoP Forgotten Sands, MGSPW for instance) use newer tags, you STILL need to use ISO Tool, even on the latest GEN.

So why not stick to M33 since you can keep a very high compatibility with all the other stuff a PSP with CFW can do AND still be able to play the latest games using ISO Tool ? Heck, sounds pretty sweet to me.

  52. Mads Teland says:

Someone need make a fix for i try to delete a file on my psp 5.50 Promohetus (5.50 Gen-D3). It said: Delete failed.

  53. wmxp says:

+1 to everything you mentioned. ISO Tool is the ultimate compliment to M33. As nice as the M33_620.prx plugin is, from my experience, version.txt + Prometheus 0.5 patch in tandum works far better. Prometheus is an 11k memory overhead, max. It’s a beautiful piece of code.

Anyone taking any serious interest in M33, go about setting yourself up with the 6.20 or 6.30 version.txt in Flash0 (make sure it’s use is enabled in the M33 Recovery Menu) and use ISO Tool 1.55UR to patch your ISOs on the psp itself, on the fly. ISO Tool does direct LBA search and replace within the ISO, without the need to rebuild the image.

Something else to understand: The decryption engine used changes the way data is saved to the memory stick. Prometheus, GEN Pegasus, and this 620 plugin all handle data differently. If you save in one engine, your data will appear corrupt in another. So you have been using Gen D3, and want to move to M33, be prepared to start your games over. Hopefully a tool might be created sometime to convert between the formats.

  54. maddeath says:

Yay I can go back to using my other phat psp but I can’t load any of my saves :(
Is there any way to patch/fix/mod my saves so they can run on m33?

  55. kaiser says:

can anyone help me i have the original 6.20 ofw end i wanna hacket without pendora end i dont know how to doet HELP ME PLEASE

    • Evan says:

Kaiser, if you are on a psp-slim with the ofw 6.20 you cannot “hacket” to its full potential. The only option available to you at this time is the half byte loader. You do not need a pandora battery to do this. I’m not going to explain any further because google exists.

  56. kaiser says:

    thanks Evan :)

  57. plus says:

Can Half-byte loader run isos end psx games?

  58. says says:

    iso = no
psx games = i dont know
