New Psardumper with PSPgo Kernel Keys Released

greg | June 8, 2010

Add to the list of what psardumper dumps & decrypts are PSPgo modules from firmware updates 5.70 to 6.20. You can thank coyotebean for finding these kernel keys. And before you ask: no — this does not mean ISOs for PSPgo. It’s for educational purposes and more the reverse engineering type. It’s a good thing. It opens the door to manipulating and customizing your VSH/XMB… things like that.

How to use it: Download both psardumper and whatever firmware EBOOT. Copy the firmware EBOOT.PBP file to the root of your memory stick and install/run psardumper like any other homebrew. It will then dump and decrypt what it can leaving behind a whole whack of files for you to play with.

New psardumper (2010-06-07):

  • PSPgo 5.70 & 6.X kernel key added
  • Added missing key for vshmain in PSPgo 6.X

  3. goku says:

    for psp3004 5.51?

  4. 321orez says:

can someone explain this to me in a really dumbed down language?

  5. manobon says:

Regarding eventually (maybe) customizing the vsh, does that mean this Could lead to plug-ins?

  6. James says:

What exactly does this do.In complete newbie language.

  7. Mads Teland says:

If u try on homebrew loader on psp go with this psardumper, it will not show something and psp go will shutdown.

  8. Jim says:

    FOR THE NOOBS:

Essentially this extracts an update EBOOT into the files that make it, and extracts the modules inside to the bare code. This really isn’t useful to the adverage joe though :)

  9. marshall_racer says:

well, it’s not really only for firmware EBOOT.BIN ‘s, those from games could be decrypted too (although i think this version isn’t supposed to do that)

  10. MS_25 says:

Good to know progress is being made with the PSPGo, just hope everyone doesnt give up on the 3000 though…

  11. Acid_1 says:

Ummm…. Not quite. Rather it decrypts the binaries, so if you try to reverse engineer them or do whatever the psp-devs do, it’s possible.

For the average joe, this is more along the lines of the comparison:

You’ve made a MS Word document, but you don’t want other people to see it, so you encrypt it. By encrypting it you need a key, or in this case a password, to decrypt it. This program (psardumper) would be like somebody else finding the password and writing a different program to decrypt the file, so they can read them.

Now back to psardumper, it doesn’t give you the source code to the binaries, just decrypts them. You have to do the rest.

  12. chazz, that smart kid!! says:

which eboot do you have to put on the root of the memory stick? is it the update or the dumper?

  13. Decius says:

Do you know what the encryption on the PSPgo Firmware modules are? I’d guess RSA but that’s a shot in the dark.

Anywho, I wonder why they haven’t dumped the Pre-IPL Key’s yet to the 2k’s (And If I am not mistaken the 3k’s as well) So we can have a fully functional CFW on PSP’s as it is ;x

This release sounds excellent, a lot of progress being made with the PSPgo Scene!:)

    >Just hope they get the PSP 2k (TA-088v3′s) And 3k’s alike hacked. Not relying on anyone here but If I knew how to read Pre-IPL or pull keys ;(

u could just buy FF8 off the PSN its under 10 bucks, thats what i did and game works 100%, no known fix but u can fix most issues with changing the game save ID i remember doing a while ago, froze less and i could scan but couldnt beat the brothers GF without freezing. really looking forward to updates on this aswell, Great job everyone

  22. Warlike says:

“u could just buy FF8 off the PSN its under 10 bucks”

oh rly? brazil dont have psn store =/

psn store usa choices to not accept brazilian international credit cards =p

my choice? they don’t want my money? ok! but i wont going to buy umds whith are 80~120 us dollars in these parts!

    i use homebrews then.

    • thiagohc says:

I’m brazilian and i can confirm umd’s around here are kinda expensive… but that doesn’t justifies piracy as you can import the games yourself (as you said, you have an international credit card).
And you can always buy pre-paid psn cards on e-bay to download your games (yeah, international credit card again).
You, like many others, shame our country, that’s why most ppl and communities out there just don’t like brazilians.
