Two Handy PSP Plugins: USB PRX & iXMB

greg | February 28, 2010

Just browsing, looking around, and I came across these two (2) handy PSP plugins… By way of pspgen and developer Zer01ne is USB PRX and iXMB. Albeit these plugins may be dated, but we never covered ‘em… So without further ado, here you go:

  1. USB.prx: Toggle on/off USB mode while in game. With this there is no need to exit the current game to access your memory stick. Once USB.prx is enabled press and hold L + R + O (CIRCLE) to activate.
  2. iXMB: Enable this plugin and you can shutdown or suspend your PSP with the headphone remote; press and hold the Play/Pause button for 3 seconds to shutdown or press Hold to suspend.

    USB is a must.
iXMB I just don’t see the point…at all. Who would use this and why?

USB is indredbile though. Great Plugin

for iXMB–I used to have my PSP in my pocket all the time when I used it for tunes. Rather than having to take it out of my pocket, out of the case, then turn it off or suspend it, and then put it back in the case and back in my pocket. Instead you can just do it from the remote. It’s just convenient I guess. But now I use my iPhone for music.

Nice find. USB.prx could be handy as a small plugin but CWCHEAT can already do the whole USB thing.

    • Fuku says:

You’re right. I downloaded CWCheat a while back so I could enable more blood for MHFU, then take it off because I don’t enjoy cheating in my games.

Then I saw it has a built-in usb mode anywhere, screenshot, and text reader.

OH WOW! The Usb.prx works perfectly on my phat psp 5.00m33-6…..thats some really good work.

  6. Mac2468 says:

About time something like that USB plugin is made.

  7. YO says:

how do u install dis on ur psp 3000?

    • lnhs2007 says:

gotta hack it first. if you’re past firmware 5.03, you’re outta luck. if you’re on it, look up chickhen r2 and 5.03 gen-c. it’s all over this site.

  8. the same as putting any plugin. always check the bundled file:

    -How to install it
For install it copy there folder seplugins on the root of your MS
    -VSH/XMB
Copy this line ms0:/seplugins/iXMB.prx 1 in the file X:\seplugins\vsh.txt
    -GAME
Copy this line ms0:/seplugins/iXMB.prx 1 in the file X:\seplugins\game.txt
    -POPS
Copy this line ms0:/seplugins/iXMB.prx 1 in the file X:\seplugins\pops.txt

X = Letter of your PSP in Computer

Hi does anyone know if the plugins work on a psp 3001 with ver. 6.20?

  10. clock work says:

i’ve been looking for something like iXMB, wanted to mount my psp in my dash and use the car charger for power, but turning it on and off was a problem….

    not any more, good find!!

USB mode while in game doesn’t really interest me. I usually start games to PLAY them not to connect the PSP to the computer. I can’t possibly think of a reason why I would like to play a game and access the memory stick at the same time. Maybe for copying large files ? Then both tasks will perform slower. Games will drop frames (especially if you’re running them off the MS) and the file transfer would probably be much slower too if the MS is in use.

As for iXMB… What a crappy name, sounds Apple-ish, or at least something that deals with the XMB not the remote and hold button. Oh, speaking of which. It could interfere with Hold+ if you have both enabled.

In my opinion, Hold+ is better for changing tracks. Just hold Select and do your thing. Also, I hear the headphones that come with that little remote suck. If you like music you should consider investing some money in a decent pair of headphones.

Actualy this plugin is good for develoopers. When i do some stuff like mapping i hate to all the time shut my psp and take mem out or retunr to xmb when i just want to try do this thing work. This is perfect plugin for me

  12. premoslide says:

why dont you just put the game in suspend and take out the mem card? its not like your gonna be playing and messing with the mem card at the same time

    • lnhs2007 says:

I’ve been waiting for something like this for ages. I remember there was a USB plugin like this a while back, for something like 3.50 m33, but incompatible with newer CFWs. The reason I would want this, to answer premoslide, is when I’m doing something like copying either an ISO or some sort of large file to or from the computer. This can take several minutes, and even up to half an hour if you have an older 1.0 USB port on the computer. What would I NORMALLY do while I wait for my computer to do something? Play PSP! Now I can again. Thanks uploader.

  13. iamanoob says:

will USB.prx corrupt my mem stick? like the one on irshell way back?

    • lnhs2007 says:

plugins don’t corrupt the memory stick, they stick in the system memory (RAM, not MS) so your psp can do something not originally included in the firmware (like access USB mode while in-game). They don’t touch the memory stick at all.
