Update: Furthermore, Sorrow says it via the comments, “It isn’t corrupted… But when I run it, it says checking ms0 for 630 EBOOT, and it just keeps checking…”, which backs up DiGi-C’s claim concerning Mad-001. So as I see it, 5.00 M33: it’s a never ending EBOOT check, and 5.50 GEN-D3: it’s corrupt. They didn’t even get the EBOOT name right.
Update: I guess I’m not the only one with the corrupt EBOOT, so says pspgen. Mind you: I don’t believe it’ll brick your PSP as it doesn’t even run. For now I’d file this under F for fuck’s sake. The download has also been disabled for the time being.
Well, it’s released all right… Whether it works — that’s a whole different ball game. I’ve been paying close attention to the news surrounding Custom Firmware 6.20 Mad, and just now: 6.20 Mad-002 was released. Sadly the update EBOOT is corrupt, at least for me it is… Nice try I guess. Anyone else?
- Download the 6.20 firmware EBOOT below.
- Rename that to 620.PBP and copy it to the root of your memory stick.
- Download 6.20 Mad-002 below and copy that EBOOT to your PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder.
- Run it. If it isn’t corrupt.
This supposed custom firmware is for PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 non-TA088v3 models only. Please use with caution; you may want to ready your Pandora battery and Magic Memory Stick too.

here is how you do it
1. rename the eboot.pbp (the 6.20 ofw one)
2. rename it as 630.pbp
3. put it in the root of memory stick
4. have fun with exploit
(oh can i get a copy of it i deleted mine by accedent)

I tried 001 last night and it turned out to be nothing more than a than eboot check spoof, so I’m not holding hopes for this either. Stranger things have happened however…

Yes, that’s how the custom updates work. You change the name of an official eboot and the files are ripped or something.

The correct firmware name is 620.PBP, the program indicates that it’s looking for 6.30PBP.

Just one question, if you put all the decrypted files of 6.20 to your psp 5.50-GEND3′s f0, will your psp be 6.20? Is it possible to play ISO’s?

No, because the keys would be wrong. I tried doing the same thing a while ago but just with the PSN PRX’s to try to play online. My PSP couldnt do anything PSN-Related after that. Even if I clicked on the XMB icon; It just sat there and did nothing.
People are saying that this program creates a txt file that pretty much states it’s a Valentine’s joke (written in Japanese) and it won’t be done. The way I figure, it’s a joke-rip and not really the CFW we’re expecting… or it’s the actual CFW that’s fake and the creator wanted to play a V-Day joke on us all.

well being you cant brick a pandora. even if you did you can unbrick with it. someone needs to translate the Japanese file and tell us the joke they played on us.

Try it if you backup your files and have access to a pandora/mms (1000/2000). Otherwise don’t touch this “CFW” with a ten foot pole. I’m preferential to a ten foot pole personally, even with access to a pandora.

The problem with the corrupt icon is not with 5.50. It is the name of the folder the update is in. It cannot be named UPDATE unless it is in the Game5XX folder. Also, if you have the version.txt enabled it will always say “error!” as it checks for the 620.pbp(“630.pbp”). I have it running right now on my test PSP (5.50Gen D-3). No progress yet, but patience is a virtue. I’ll update y’all once I find out if it works or not with a straight YES or NO.
Final word for now:
If you want it to run, you need to
1. Keep the folder structure as is when zipped(Mad-002) and place it in the GAME folder(or rename the folder to UPDATE and place it in the 5XX folder).
2. Rename the 620.pbp to “630.pbp” and place it in the root of your memory stick.
3. Disable the version.txt from the recovery menu.
4. Run and be patient(runs on both 5.00M33-6 and 5.50Gen).
5. Let us know with a yes or no if it works at all.

sure it will. and i did answer with who can read Japanese and tell us the prank they pulled. so working = no. it was a fake we got those alot back when dark alex was making cfw. and alot of bricked psp systems in those days being then we had no way to unbrick. i wouldn’t call team gen noobs they did a good job hacking up 5.50 to work with 6x stuff. can they do anything but mod darks work well so far its a no.
I tested on my silver slim psp, 6.20 mad-003 Said CFW 6.20 Mod-003, Deleting all files. And as i type this it is deleting my files apparently, i backed it up so it’s fine. But uhh.. Yeah.

As a tip for the future. One can always try the harmless method first (i.e the existing PSP emulators pcsp and jpscp). When I ran this EBOOT I got the same thing as Digi-C, even got the log as well.
Although I doubt pcsp or jpcsp is as good as the REAL thing (a real PSP that is), it still could serve as a safety net. In some occasions.

Sony is doing a fantastic job guarding the go right now from custom firmware, When it does get hacked there are alot on craigslist im going there and im getting one, as for now it’s still gameimformer top fail of 2009 and it worked hard for that spot
I downloaded a differnt kind of update but it says its the same thing, cant remember where but in the UPDATE file it had 2 files, the eboot and another file that had four letters in its name, i cant remember but it didnt need the 630.PBP or anything on the root, i started it in a pap fat gen 5.50 d3 final and it came up as mad-002 and i loaded it and it said it cant install coz my firmware is 9.90 already, so i downgraded to 3.71-4 and did it and it loaded up YAY and ohh…i got this error sgt90000001 after i press O i can see for 1 second that it is a 6.20 update and it looks EXACTLY the same as a normal psp original firmware upgrade looks like. and then it reboots. :( anyway this error code normaly happen when the eboot is edited in some wrong way, can anyone plz provide any more info for me plz or try it out?

These fucking articles lately have been about how awesome someone is because they have a super-secret exploit that everyone fucking knows about. The article should be about a confirmed fake firmware, and to avoid it, not about how ‘this could be real but it crashes’.

As i went to the site i saw a bunch of IP addresses (including mine, in red) with Queries, Path and some numbers (i think ports) marked as “CLOSED”. =\
Might be bad. Don’t go to that site as it will log your IP. I was just wondering why they linked that site to the fake CFW and what harm can it possibly do.

well I tried to run this with the file named 630.pbp and it didnt work, but when I changed it back to its original name and run it from the GAME directory my PSP updated great, my PSP is now 6.20 thanx :)
