OpenGL ES Released for the PSP
greg | February 8, 2010
Not a hack per se, but let me tell you this: Metismo has no doubt laid some serious groundwork for some potential bad ass ‘brew.

According to this article (see source), Metismo has released an OpenGL ES library for the PSP. I’m talking fancy graphical features like: lighting, fogging; and to get more technical: vertex buffer objects, uncompressed, palletized and additional DXTC compressed textures, fixed and floating point data type adherence, and internal vertex array conversion to optimal PSP formats. Over your head? Mine too. Nevertheless — them graphics will look so fresh and so clean when they’re OpenGL ES-ified.
Now if you’re a developer you’ll likely see the potential dopeness of this library; however, I’m not sure whether it’s commercial grade or if it’s free to the masses… I can’t find a public download anywhere.
Furthermore, John Chasey, CEO of Metismo, quotes –
While we developed the OpenGL ES support as part of the broader Bedrock technology it became apparent that for some developers a standalone OpenGL ES package for the PSP was particularly beneficial.
Beneficial indeed. You can read more about Metismo and their Bedrock effort right here.
Holler via the comments if you find a downloadable [freely distributable] copy of Metismo’s OpenGL ES library.

hmm I see some tasty things coming from this!
i want to start coding for psp but I don’t know where to start.Any tips?
http://ps2dev.org/psp
it’s a good start.
true that
thank you
This could produce some badass homebrews. An upgraded version of CSPSP anyone?
im confused, what is this? another coding language for homebrew
isn’t a coding language, it’s a API for 3D development. it should make easier/faster to develop 3D capable homebrews and maybe even faster 3D homebrews due a optimized use of hardware.
oh, ok i see now… I think i may be getting a link to it or he download, but not totally sure, k?
yea the emu like the n64 emu could probably get a big speed increase using opengl.
Hmmm… Shame it isn’t OpenGL ES 2.0 like the 32/64GB iPod Touch 3G can use.
So is this like graphic enhancement sortof deal here?
Greg, help me out.
This has ALOT of potential.
For those wondering, OpenGL is basically a set of tools that allows people to do more complex graphics design faster and easier. Since all the tools are readily available, you don’t have to “reinvent the wheel”
I can’t find a download link for this, probably isn’t for the masses?
I highly doubt this lib is faster than GU..
Might be good for small projects I guess.
Nothing to get excited about. This doesn’t help with anything except possibly porting some homebrew to the PSP, or making new homebrew development (slightly) easier.
Gnar shet
This has nothing to do with homebrew, it’s more a MiniS kind of thing. I can smell some shitty iphone apps being ported and hitting PSN now :>
