The scoop: All right… So we’re in #psp-hacks live chat testing things out, discussing, you know… PSP-2000 (Slim) — bang on; Yoshihiro, my sincerest. PSP-1000 (Phat) — something’s a little off… The PSP-1000, under System Information, reports 5.50 GEN-D (Full), while the Slim is sayin’ 5.50 GEN-D3. At least for me it is. On the 1000 you may experience other odd behaviour too. I can’t speak for 5.03 GEN-C and 2000v3/3000, but feel free to leave your comments below.
Signed, sealed, and delivered fresh from Team GEN: PSP Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D3… And not only that — drop the 3 and flip the ‘D’ to a ‘C’ — you get 5.03 GEN-C (for HEN) putting 3000/TA-088v3 back on the map, baby.
Now I’ll let you get to know each other while I do the same… I’ll report back momentarily. Enjoy!

I have the same problem. Screen gets black after pressing the Start buttom, while running a UMD (smack down 2009). Can anyone help? xmb and game clock on default. ISO games run perfectly. Appreciate comments.
i am using gen-c 5.03 with tekken 6 but sometimes the games hang, during loading of next stage, the loading screen hangs

had same issue with my 1000 says gend full, avatar will load up and allow you to create a profile, but when you launch the game it freezes.
Change the ISO Mode the Sony and it will work.
I couldn’t get Avatar .iso or the actual UMD (yes, I own it) to get past the main screen on 5.5.0. Changed the mode from M33 to Sony NP9660 just now per your suggestion and BAM! it loaded right up. Thank you VERY much for the tip! Will follow up if I experience any other problems with the game.

I am happy that for some of you is working the CFW, but i have a little problem here. I have PSP 3004 slim, version 5.50 and i have tried with every gen for vs 5.50 with my friend who has the PSP old one the phat. Can somebody help?

psp 2000(ta-088v3)/3000 with firmware 5.50 or later has No publicly released hacks or exploits. that’s all i could tell
2 Things I noticed:
1. System Version is known as:5.50 Gen D (FUll) instead of Gen D3.
2. I can get in to PSN without my password or Email, but later when I attempted to download a wallpaper, it asked for the Information, when I logged in: it asked for a System Update again like before, so it seems that needs fixing, To be Honest I felt I should have stayed at Gen D2 something doesnt feel right, but the games do work thow!!! anyway I cant complain Team Gen I thank you for giving the peole what they want, time and effort people and they did just that!!! Tres Bien!!! Now on to either a rework of Gen D3 or CFW 6.10 or 6.20?
You have always been able to view the PSS without signing in but for downloading you always have to sign in.
The PSS has not been fixed in this update and I wouldn’t see the point in doing so.
i have psp1004, im using gen b2, i copy the gen d3 installer as shown and instructed, i started the installation but it only stuck up blank/black screen.
1. all settings set as default
2. plugins already disabled
3. using m33 driver and sony mode
and all instruction i’ve read did not work but all stuck up.
please anyone can help?

there are 2 files in it
EBOOT.PBP which will go to \PSP\GAME\UPDATE
and 550.PBP which will go to \ …that means the root of your Memory stick
Before you begin the update process you should have been reseting the PSP to factory settings to reduce the bricked-to chance

It’s not working because you need to have the Gen-B2 update done. It’s a quick updater for Gen-B2 they released. I had the same problem on a friends psp I fixed and was updating. I used Gen-b2, but not the updater, after I used the updater, GEn-d and d2 worked just fine, then on to d3, etc.

my friend had gen-b2 instaled..when he upgrade to gen-d3 he got blank screen as you xyroen..
when he restart the psp it’s like nothing happen..
soo here is how he pass that :
gen b2–>gen-d–>gend2–>gen-d3

I noticed that the Use M33 network update is now Enabled, what exactly does that do?
M33 network update is used when you wanna use the “Network Update” feature in your PSP to download new CFW updates. Instead of going through Sony, M33 directed the feature to check on their servers for updates. So now they’ve changed it to check for GEN updates! And that’s great, cause now you don’t need a PC to do it anymore.
sooo that means for example if i have 5.03 gen c and the released 5.03 gen- D, i can just go on M33 network update to do so?
That’s right. If they’re gonna release lets say…6.00 GEN, you can just go to M33 network update and it’ll download it straight into the PSP for you.

are you sure that you are on 5.50 GEN-D3 or 5.50 GEN-C for HEN or even for 5.50 GEN D (FULL) as it is coming up as on the PSP 1000 Fat? Only these updates have the new feature but older firmwares cannot do this feature and so they cannot upgrade to or beyond these two new firmwares. This update has to be done via a PC, but will allow future updates to be done through the network update.
But as for you if they both have the 5.50 GEN C/D3/FULL installed and it says that under system settings then you have a problem.
Can someone who can see both M33 network update and the MS Speed up option in recovery please upload their recovery.prx?
Yes I’m sure cause I’m running UMDs that didn’t work previously….It says 5.50 GEN-D3 in system info and I put it back to OFW then back to CFW twice now and it still says “NOT YET”

The new Go!Cam of InviZimals still doesen’t work.
i’ve played invizimals w/o any problems on my d2 camera and all, plus you can make your own reticule by taking two squares and making an 8point star out of them and in the center make a square and put black tape on it’s edges and a black square under it.
Are you talking about what Go!Cam? The new Go!Cam that come with the orginal Invizimals UMD dosen’t work on GEN-D2 neither GEN-D3
This one actually loads stuff SLOWER than D2! And it also makes LBP and Tekken6 run in slow-motion (slow graphics and jerky controls) …Plus there is a stupid pink flash whenever you start a game…Think I will stick with D2 for now.

And it screwed up every saved game I have except MotorStorm…
Its actually red and its when the PSP has to load information to override the commands that says a higher firmware is needed to play this game. The red should only last about 1-3 seconds at most. I find that it only happens the first or the first couple of times I play a new game and after a few plays ill never see it again.
The only thing I hate(well, dislike…) about GEN updates are your settings go back to default, all your wireless infrastructure connections are deleted…stuff like that.
Would appreciate it if Team GEN could revert the settings back to the way they were before updating, just like how M33 did so?

this is done to prevent bricking psps, also its a complete installer not a simple update hence it needs to format flash for it to install…
also i tested avatar on psp 2000 and it works with no freezes…
if m33 made a 5.50 custom firmware it wont retain settings as well as its a limitation with installing 5.50 firmware properly… meaning even on official firmware your settings get deleted when you install 5.50 otherwise it causes bricks…
lastly why complain about formatting all flash (removing settings) when it means that existing corruption that may occur gets erased and its for the dumb and noob users who does hacks to flash like ms speed up and doesnt remove it before upgrading as it means a brick
anyways people having issues with this firmware (which i dont at all thus far)put up the issue instead of complaining… and if you dont like the work gen provides go back to m33 and shut up…
also if you have an issue, please post things like if its a psp 2000 or 1000, are you using a fake memory card, plugins you are using, noumd drivers you are using and if you have an issue updating then say what firmware you are updating from… Me and other people here aren’t mind readers or miracle workers so provider as much information as you can so we can help you….
also people with install issues make sure all plugins are disabled, make sure you remove (if you have installed it) ms speed up from flash, set wallpaper and theme to original and lastly make sure you have at least 75% battery life otherwise expect issues
also, you don’t have to be so bloody harsh on me. I was just merely giving some constructive criticism. You’re pretty much all talk. Why don’t I see YOU doing anything to help the PSP hacking scene, if you know so much?

How’s this CFW for you? Works fine for me.
It isn’t really that hard to create a program that does a backup of your settings and then restores them as long as you know where the settings are stored. All it would be is a program that copies the sections of the files where the settings are held into a patch file and then patches those changes back in. There are times where this couldn’t be done since sometimes there are changes to those areas of the code that makes it so the data would be incompatible.

same thing happened to me my vshmenu even says thats its the m33 driver so i dont know whats going on…
i just found out that there is a version on pspgen that says its the bug free version so maybe u can check it out there cos Though it doesnt work on my psp slim and my games dun appear and my system firmware is GEN D (FULL) when i used the one on pspgen but this one on psp hacks worked for me so maybe the one on pspgen is for psp phat..

Actually its not just helpful to pirates I buy my games and UMDs don’t work without firmware updates and I don’t feel like flashing to OFW then back to CFW every time I want to play one. Yea I could rip them and patch them but this is much simpler.
Yeah, allowing people to play their legitimately purchased UMDs instead of having to use cracked, pirated versions is totally helping the pirates. Way to think that one through.
I’m thinking some kind of patching system would be useful though. Automatically apply patch files or run a program to patch the game being loaded. That’d help future-proof new games.

Nope, MX Vs ATV doesn’t run and The new avatar game gets to the menu then crashes on all settings. And a couple of my UMD games don’t work anymore. All my homebrew/emulators/psx games work fine though…
Finally found a solution!! u have to download the mx vs atv reflex ripkit and patch, it worked for me but the thing is u have to have the right version or else it wont work it has to be the USA version.

Did you link your Facebook account with the PSP-hacks account? If so, go under the Facebook settings and disconnect the accounts. It should be under the settings where you can uninstall plugins for Facebook.

I installed this on my psp 2001 daxter edition with ms speed up hack still enabled and all my plugins enabled and still managed to not brick my psp. all games work as well even avatar which did’nt work on gen d-2. your psp skillz suck. Please, before you install CFW Gen-D3 you should do the following preparation to reduce the brick chance:
- Reset all setting to default.
- Please DISABLE all plugin in the Recover menu.
- Reset the Theme to original.
- Use m33 Driver while install Gen-D3. (It work for me)
as usual…. I repeat …. PLEASE DISABLE ALL THE PLUGIN IN BEFORE go to gen-D3. !!!!!!!!
I just noticed, that it also disabled Flash Player on my PSP-2000…
It does that every GEN update. Just turn it back on.

Mem Card speedup or no? It’s that simple. Gen can keep dorking around all they want, but If i can’t play my .CSOs at full speed, I just don’t care. So is it there, or not?
it isnt there but you can simply use the U3R patch to enable that feaute in GEN noob.

im using psp-1001 ta-086 (phat)gen-d2, just upgraded to d3, i had the same problem wih those guys right after they installed d3 all of the games just hang and crashed… i thought i bricked it even all homebrews won’t worked except the d3 installer… try doing what i did and everything will work fine
everything is all good with the GEN-C on my psp 3000! the theme the gameboot, popsloader, ps1 games, all the psp games so far, never tried the new games yet nor i dont think i will till the future. and the emulators works fine too :D the only thing that sucks is the fact cant access to psn still. oh well.

if anything navigation around the XmB is Slower!
i do not recommend downloading an installing unless you have a pandora battery
you proabably installed it wrongly. haizz all these noobs simply dont know how to read simple instructions.
The reason the screen goes black is because of a plugin that needs to be disabled…. with me I did the fatsmod hack to my psp on gen D2 and still had the peagasus.prx enabled…. after disabling it, the psp loaded normally…..
Does it acctually say 5.50 GEN-D3 in system info for anyone? I’ve downloaded and reinstalled 4 times now on my launch PSP-1001. my System Info always says 5.50 GEN-D (Full).
The reason I’m asking is that the .hack//Link and Valkyria Chronicles demos are not working on this and I’m wondering if its just not properly installing or if they don’t work on the FW yet?

Not true. I have a Sandisk 4 gig and it still doesnt work.
But it worked for him and myself so your memory stick is messed up or something when my 4gb worked and so did his of the same brand…..So it’s true just something is wrong with yours. There are counterfeit sandisc MS out there.

I need help
I am trying to install this but it keeps reverting me back to GEN (FULL). I’ve tried upgrading from D2 and M33-6 but regardless it never takes me to 5.50 Gen-3, it just goes to D (Full). I’m trying this on both PSP1000 and 2000 that’s Pandora-able.
Also, you guys said PSN can be logged in but someone I know over the internet says he can’t enter the PSN, it gives him firmware error. What did you guys do to get past it?

I thought it was a problem at first as well, but everything seems to be working, and the 2 demos that wouldn’t play on GEN-D2 are working now so I’m going to assume its fine.
You can get passed the PSN fw check but you need to download mediaGo which is available free on the playstation website,and you need usb fake i believe it is called.And you can set the PSN to think that your psp has whatever firmware you want for example 9.90.
The only thing is that you have to be connected to your comp to do this obviously,and usb fake doesn’t work on the PSN via PSP.

I tried to upgrade from d2 to d3. And nothing changed, white screen for any games. So I disabled the plugins and then I was able to play avatar and the rest of the games! The game freezes at the same spot every time. WTF?
Ok fixed this issue: I used the sony umd driver not the m33 Driver adn it works great. But still no luck on the mx vs atv game :(
Found the issue with the plugins, the plugin peagasus.prx {game] will not work, it must be disabled the play any games….

5.03 GEN-C user here, I seem to have encountered some problems. First off, there is no pink/purple flash for me that I’ve seen reported by other people when starting games, similar to the red one from 5.03 GEN-B. I’ve only tried older games though, so maybe that’s the problem?
Secondly, I cannot get Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron to run in 5.03 GEN-C. At all. It works fine for me in 5.03 GEN-B, but in this version of the CFW, it seems like it’s loading, but gets stuck at a black screen. I can exit out with the Home button, but the game never loads. I’ve tried out three other older games so far: Patapon, GTA: Vice City Stories, and Monster Hunter Freedom, and all of them load fine.
Can anybody who owns the game see if Renegade Squadron loads okay for them? Or confirm whether or not the absence of the pink flash is a problem? I’d appreciate it. =]
A couple more details: I have a PSP 2000 (88v3 mobo) and all of the games I’ve tried are legit UMD versions, not ISO files.
I can’t start my games anymore. It goes through the game boot but dies afterwards.

According to the latest post on pspgen, they uploaded the wrong file and it was the beta version of gen-d3.

Yet another buggy release that is focused solely on playing ISO’s. I’m running out of patience and nice things to say… Ohh and the whole “They’re doing it for free NUB!?” thing isn’t going to phase me or anyone else anymore. There is a limit. I’ve had to Pandora back so many times in the past few months that it is ridiculous. All because they don’t give a shit about homebrew (or stability for that matter). It has gone from being me showing my hacked PSP to my buddys and saying “Check out everything it can do!” to “Look how many games I can torrent.”. Not that I have a problem with piracy. The core point of CFW (homebrew)is gone and is replaced with a buggy mess. I really hope this isn’t the fucking future for the PSP.

If they wouldn;t care about homebrew they would just stop working on 5.5 gen…
thing is 6.1 firmware ist completely different from 5.5 and all homebrews that came out so far would have to be rebuild/patched/whatever….
what they do is trying to help people playing their backups, which in general wouldn’t be playable in 5.50 after all…of course piracy-people use it as well as it works for them too, but i really don’t think that’s where it all was supposed to go…..and all people who claim about bugs….every firmware is buggy, even the original ones….maybe not as much as a cfw but still people work hard on it so respect their work and report bugs if any occure

An UNTESTED and incomplete memory stick speedup function was added… Yeah they SAID they didn’t test it because they didn’t have an fake mem sticks. That should PISS PEOPLE OFF. So we are essentially beta testers. Freeware software companies are under scrutiny from their users all the time. If they release something without testing it. They would lose support, lose donation, and they would eventually have to cease operations because of all of the flak. The users are a critical part of their success! So get mad! I’m not trying to rant… I just hate how unprofessional all of this is. GEN just needs to start listening to criticism and not just all of the praise! If they do I have no doubt in my mind that they will pull everything together and people (including me) will think as highly of them as they do of DAX.

This is the greatest comment I’ve ever read on here. Thank you for not being a total dumbfuck, like everybody else. I agree with you 100%, and is entirely the reason I stay on M33. Because of so much flashing back and forth with firmware’s recently, even my M33 PSP seems a little fuckered and occasionally crashes. Switching between so many inconsistent firmwares seems to be such a chore for PSP’s.
I too am tired of updates that the only real function is for patching games that are for a HIGHER firmware version. Honestly, it seems pointless.

i have instal cfw 5.50 gen-d2 before,then i run the 5.50 gen-b (full) updater which is hundred kb.the updater work successful but when i open my psp (after shutdown).the system information say 5.50gen-b (full).when i play a game then close it,the system information says 5.50 gen-d2.the problem is sometimes ths s.information say d2 and sometime says b (full).can some one tell me what’s the problem???

Just incase people Don’t know the first download didn’t work with the phat PSPS it would get an error and shut down when you started a game.
This should be fixed and working as of now all you have to do is re download and install again. On the psp Phats it should say gen full. Yoshiro said that he will upload another fix for the Phats later on tonite so keep checking on the pspgen site.

Try resetting ur flash 1 guys.Change theme to original and colour to grey and start the update.REMEMBER, disable plugins.Thats what i did by opening up my eyes and see what people write. Actually if you were really intelligent you would know that gen d3 had three releases 1st one made the phat useless because no game would work on it. 2nd release the Phat problem was fixed but the mms speed was not put on it on the Third and final release it finally said d3 because the memory problem was fixed. on the first 2 releases one around midnight the 15th and the second one like at 1 in the morning on the 16th would say gen full on the phats and on slims it would say d3. so please don’t tell me im wrong I worked it and actually talked to people on the gen team about this and they explained it to me and a few others on their forums..

Try Installing The MS Speed Hack For Gen-D2 After Installing Gen-D3. Something Good Will Happen. It Became More Stable For Me..

Just set the psp back to the default settings disable all plug-ins and installl using M33 Driver, then when you play the games use the Sony NP9660 Driver, works for me.

To all of you with a blue psp 2000 with madden 09 game, yours is probably a T88v3, so use ChickenHEN and 5.03GEN-C or face a bricked and unrecoverable psp dumb asses. Just like those with a psp 3000 series.
Had No Problems with the update from 5.50GEN-D to GEN-D3 and I can use service mode if I installed 6.20 by accident with Pandora Battery of course thanks to X-GEN v5 ipl patch. My PSP is a 2001 crimson red with T88v2 motherboard, can be unbricked in service mode. Thanks again GEN Team. :)

You must have used the “correct” version. Download the version offered in this website (links @ top of the page” and copy to your PSP. Then use it just as if you where going to update normally.

I had Gen-B and SedNa plugin on my PSP 3000.
Just did the Gen-C update. Everything went smoothly.
Now the best part…..
My psp 3000 keep ChickHEN and 5.03 GEN active now — even after HARD RESET. Ít’s almost permanently.

It’s true. I have psp 3000 and sometimes I accidently fully turn off ny holding the switch. This time when you hold the power switch it instead puts the psp in SOFT RESET MODE. However if your psp crashes you still have to go through the ChickHEN process again :(

Actually as of now This is true but the first and second release would say gen Full Trust me I was one of the first people that download both installs. On the final release of d3 this was changed and it now says D3 and the Ms speed is working now supposably (I cant say it is since I haven’t tested it yet.) Don’t say something you don’t know isn’t true I can say both the first releases would say Full on PHATS but on slims it would say d3 because I tested both them.
Now that the 3rd and final release it says D3 on the phats.
I still can’t access the psn with this gen version. :(

Yeah, it works great on my PSP SLIM 2006 TA-85, so far I’ve only tested it with Avatar, but that launched straight away, and no error as before.

The three versions of GEN update were given out due to add and drop of certain functions that Team Gen managed to sit around and plan wayyy beforehand to avoid wastage of time and also to avoid giving updates after the it is released. There has been numerous reports all over stating that the first and the second update which mainly have the file name” xgen-v5-5-50gen-d3-release_1260925491 ” displaying 5.50 GEN(Full) with some problems running some games(either freeze or not start at all).I tried with the third one and mind you, Ive tried all three.So if you say that you have talked to Team GEN, maybe you can try it out first before making a comment??-_- I personally feel the third one is the best one.So its up to you guys to decide actually.

ah great this works ! I’ve been playing it on my slim 2000 and i must say I’m impressed. The only flaw is avatar, its a tad bit laggy. But yeah overall worth the wait and update. Thanks

To the people who have problems with this:
I dont know if this affects the update, but i did it anyway to make sure (You can never be too careful).
1. Update to 5.50 gen-D (thats what I did from Gen B2)
1. Turn off all plugins (It means all off for the time being)
2. Reset your psp’s theme to original (meaning no cxmb themes etc)
3. Make sure your psp is charged so there is no problems when updating (I forgot to charge it so yeah…haha)

Well…same thing for me.Did everything as told (disable all plugin etc) and when i run the gen-d3 final…just a black screen.The worst part is after i force shutdown and restarted my psp,all the games cant be played.Even my UMD cant be started.All the games just hang at startup(white sony screen).Anyway everything was fine..i was using gen-d2 before this happened.Anyone knows a work-around?or should i say bye-bye to my psp?

It has worked perfectly on my PSP 3001 with MHUSpeed3 and with all plugins installed. I just has removed my CFW 5.03 GEN-B before installing GEN-C.
The only problem I found after this upgrade is CALL OF DUTY – ROADS TO VICTORY’s save data is shown as corrupted.

6.20 is an official firmware. updating to that will prevent your psp on playing your backup games(cso is0).you must first enable use network update (or something)on recovery so that you can use m33 update.

Update done, all seems fine, however i have bought Inizamals for my son as a xmas gift and it does not recognise the camera, anyone know if there is a way round this, i know i could install the latest official firmware and that would work but then all his cso games wont work, any suggestions would be greatfully recieved. some info on what i have, my psps is a phat 1000 and that has the latest gen update on it, his psp is a thin 2000 and his is still on gen 2 as i wanted to make sure the new firmware was ok before risking his psp, i can make a pandora battery so if i have that can i temp update his firmware to the official psp firmware and then later down the line use the pandora battery to change his thin psp back to a gen firmware as and when they get it working with the new invisimals camera?

create one. google it. there are lots of guild on how to make one.
You can create one using the right tools. There are many out there if you just google for them, like UPT(Ultimate Pandora Tools).
Make sure you back up your battery’s eeprom.bin before you pandorise it. It took me hell of a long time to find UPT to generate a random serial for my battery to normalise it again.
After having a pandora battery, go create a Magic Memory Stick. You should be able to google it too. Or, as I’ve said before, just use UPT. It pretty much does everything for you.

i have a psp 3001. i use HEN R2 or whatchacallit’. i used to be able to play my games when i was in 5.03 GEN-A. now almost all my games don’t work including my favorite NHL 07. Some people say tekken 6 works, but it does not load on mine. it just goes black and then it freezes. i have to remove battery to get out of it. Can someone out there, human or aliens, help people like us or maybe explain why this is happening? anything we can do about it besides buying a PSP Slim 2000?

try changing your UMD iso mode to: sony NP9660 by selecting the “select button” on your psp then reboot.

I say D3 sucks I’ve update all version till now same thing I strip my psp-1001 of all plugins themes listen to all those that have theirs working same thing. I’ve updated from other version and never had to do so many stuff to get it to work goes to show something is just not right with this one. Team Gen do a good job but not with this one sorry guys.
5.50 D3 solved reset all settings to default luckily I have my pandora kit from pandorasales still flash to 4.00 M3 restart the put 5.50 D3 on to memory stick update and walla 5.50 D3 running super fast restore all plugins EXCETP (peagasus.prx) that one dont work crashes the system. The suggested savegame fix using freecheet/sed is insane and it dont work for ratchet and clank as freecheet is blocked at that point

I spoke to soon any game I play now when it goes to autosave says unable to create save data retry then I have to take out my Memory Stick and plug it back in while in the game then it works until i quit the game and come back to it later I have to do the same thing each time i start up any game anyone know a fix for this?????

Yeah, but the problem was when I loaded the FATMS MOD, a few of my games couldn’t work like Disgaea 2 and Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines for instance.
All it does is go through the PSP logo and kicks me back into the XMB.
I’ve tried all the drivers including M33, Sony NP9660 and even OE Isofs but to no avail.

Yes, corrupting saves games is a no-no. So many problems… B2 had fewer bugs. I think an updated Game Decrypter would’ve solved these issues if we just stayed on 5.50 GEN-B2.

Found out why game categories plugin in content browser mode won’t load PSN demos or legit PSN Games had to switch to Context Menu Mode or Multiple MS mode maybe something to do with the skipping of the PSP gameboot??? But if you were having this problem this is how to fix it.
This only happened after I went to D3 forgot to say that before Content Browsers mode used to work fine
People who are saying that it isn’t buggy are fucking crazy. It took about 15 seconds of using this release for me to find a bug that was completely detrimental. It’s been that way every time I’ve used a gen firmware… These people must not be using any homebrew or they wouldn’t be so quick to say “DUR No proBLEMS?!” How do you overlook the WPA-PSK/WPA2 encryption issue??? I would hate to think that GEN relied on WEP to protect their connections… Just a thought.

Well, time machine DC-8 works without IPL on fake MS’s, just boot pandora and then swap sticks. TM must be installed on each. OFW6.20 extras are 3rd party apps, opens a whole new door to homebrew. hey guyz i was on gen d2 and own a psp phat. I managed to successfully update to d3 but my save games are all corrupted. Not on the new ones like fifa2010, need for speed shift, its only like on the older games like pre 2007, like cricket pressure play, virtua tennis 3.
I think with every version of firmware that comes out it encrypts its save game files. The games work fine if i remove the save game and create a new one. It would be great if hiro brings out a save game decryptor where u just input your save game and the program automatically pads information around the .sav so it can work on 6.00+ firmwares.
5.50 GEN-D3 onto my fat PSP. I’m trying to play Jak and Daxter, but as soon as it enters the first combat tutorial the game freezes and the system shuts down. Anyone else have this problem?

I’m getting corrupted saved games, slow game-play and there are no folders in any of the main folders when you save something in the web browser but they did fix the problem where when you put it in standby and resume and it don’t freeze in the browser. Well I may go back to D2 until it is fixed.

I had 5.50 Gen-B and it would give me a blank screen whenever I tried to run the update.
Turns out I had to run the Gen-B2 update first.
Worked fine after that.

After updating from Gen d-2 Full to Gen D-3 my Castlevania X save says corrupted and Jak and Daxter freezes on tutorial and has pink flash upon loading the iso can someone please help anyone?
Got rid of D3 and went back to D2. No more freezes and all my games work again. BTW this happend with 3 of my 2001′s with various games. I’ll stick with D2 until D3 gets fixed. Tekken works find with D2. maybe my version of the ISO is patched.

I have a prob getting into the internet with my psp and it’s happening since d2, i just updated (psp-1000, 5.5 gen d3. it detects the router, i set up connection, when it goes to connect or test it green light stays lit then give me a error message My brother in law’s psp does it. general problem?

Hey Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier works with 5.50 GEN-D2 but hangs / frezees with 5.50 GEN-D3…
What is wrong? I have tested three versions: Two downloaded via BitTorrent (Just to ensure where was the problem) and one from an Original UMD.
One of the downloaded versions first ask for Idiom,.. let you to create a profile, let play all first level, but when returning to ship it freezees/hangs and then power off the PSP.
The other one donwloaded do not ask for idiom, it just start, let you create the profile, and just when save finish it hangs… etc. so can not play it at all.
The Original UMD acts randomly, sometimes hangs after save the profile others not, but never let continue plaing… as soon as you came back to the ship (after taking the green solid eco) it freezes/hangs… etc.
All three works great on GEN-D2, so what is wrong with GEN-D3?
Torrents have been donloaded… but UMD disk is an original one… all three works with GEN-D2 but not with GEN-D3… Other UMDs only works with GEN-D3…
Please fix GEN-D3 so all work, i don’t like to be flashing GEN-D2 and GEN-D3 to play each UMD.

More things… Savegames seems not to be compatible from GEN-D3 to GEN-D2…
I mean: If you saved when GEN-D3 was, then go back to GEN-D2, the savegame will not be seen by the game.
At least this happens with GranTurismo:
-Run GranTurismo with GEN-D3, save the progress…
-Install GEN-D2…
-Run GranTurismo with GEN-D2, the progress seem to not be there, not shown on load…
Same if you change PSP idom… Savegames for English can not be loaded on Spanish… and viceversa.
Why if UMD is the same i can not load the progress i have done in one Idiom if i put my PSP in another idiom…
I mean why the savegame depends on the configuration i have on my PSP?
In other more clear words… If i go to “System Settings” -> “System Language” and i select a different idiom… then when i load GranTurismo i must start from the beggining, the progress is not there and can not be loaded… if i put back the idiom to the one it was when GranTurismo saved, then the progress is there…
What a bull shist… i can not play in one idom and then select another one or all the progress is worthless, must start again…
In other words… GranTurismo creates a different savegame for each idiom and they are incompatible… so if you want to play it in more then one idiom, you must do all twice… it does not let you go to 25% of progress and then change the idiom…
If i connect PSP to computer i see different folder names under /PSP/SAVEDATA on Memory Stick…
But what the hell, also if firware changes… if i put another firmware (also official ones) the savegame progress is not there,… what a bull shit!!!
No way, no i have lost all my progress and i was with all done, all golds, more than 200 cars buyed, also the F1 2007 Ferrari of 8millon credits… a lot of hours lost!!!!
Also the base name of savegame has changed from “UCES01245-GAMEDAT” to “UCUS98632-GAMEDAT”, why? It is a UMD so it can not do thing diffent (ReadOnly media) or it can?

GEN-D3 seems a totaly faulty update… Neither formatting Flash and reinstalling it … Go back to GEN-D2, restore the SAVEGAME and ufff it worked!!! All progress is allmost there… lets upgrade to GEN-D3… again when starting GrandTurismo it overwrites savegame with ane one… what shit, yes shit… but who is causing it? GranTurismo faulty or GEN-D3 faulty… If i change idiom of PSP on GEN-D2, GranTurismo creates a new savegame… so it might be fault of GranTurismo…
Is there a workarround? I would like to see some part in a differnt idom, but to reach it it is needed to go to day 2222, so a lot of races must be done… no way to load progress done with a different idom?
Not to mention -> What if i want PSP menus in an idiom and game in another… on GranTurismo there is no way… can not be selected the idiom… it is allways the same as PSP menus.
Any workarround to this?
Re-Tested… Jak and Daxter The Lost Frontier… hangs with GEN-D3 but not with GEN-D2…
How to reproduce it: Start a new game,… then after save finish it hangs (when using UMD disk), when using patched ESPALPSP version it hangs when returning to ship.
Oh! Savegame is compatible between GEN-D2 and GEN-D3, so if i pass the hang with GEN-D2, then i put GEN-D3 and reload the savegame it is playable (only patched ESPALPSP version, UMD allways hangs when saving, and autosave will also hang and sometimes corrupt savegame)…
So no way GEN-D2 is the only way, do not install GEN-D3, it has some BUGs that must be Fixed… so wait till GEN-D4 is out there… it will be soon.

Quite a workarround for GranTurismo, howto make Savemage made with GEN-D3 work in GEN-D2:
-Flash GEN-D, then use QuickUpdater to GEN-D2…
-Do Nothing except put correct idion of PSP menus
-Run GranTurismo, when loading before it tries to write to savegame, hold power just to power off the PSP, but be sure to do it before write starts or you will get a damaged/corrupted savedata and all lost for ever. (Better to do a BackUP first on the PC).
-Power on the PSP, connect to PC and delete ICON0.PNG and PIC1.PNG
-Re-Run GranTurismo, trick is done, icons are recreated but data is loaded.
This only works on same idiom, if idiom of PSP menus is different, GranTurismo will create a new one…
This works on my PSPfat (1004) but not on my PSPslim (2004) so be carefull, please make first a BackUP…
Now i have gone back to GEN-D2, since GEN-D3 does not work properly…
More things that go wrong on GEN-D3… and again with GranTurismo…
Playing Wireless on GranTurismo is allmost imposible with GEN-D3… after a few minutes it tells … Conecction lost … and do not let you continue with the race.
On GEN-D2 this does not happend.
If asked by someone, both PSP where at least then one inch one from the other, so do not ask for distance… signal strenth at full, one PSP was touching the other, so it is not possible to put them more near to each other.
Also no Microwave, no mobile was on, etc…
It is a BUG on Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-D3… and it is supossed to be the final version, not that one Beta… also downloaded from this page (at top there is the link)…
So wait to 5.50 GEN-D4, it will came soon, there are too many BUGs on GEN-D3.
Thanks to all that reported such BUGs to me (on the other forum), i decided to test them by my self and then i decided to post them also on this forum (normally i only use the other forum).

So, I’ve never looked at homebrew before today, never used CFW or backed up a PSP in my life before 3pm today. So, with a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, some cigarettes and a couple of hours to spare… I made a MMS, flashed a PHAT 1000 PSP with 5.00 MM3, DL’d 5.50 GEN-B2 and updated it. Messed about with a few backups – great! Decided to get a backup of Avatar but this didn’t work on B2, so I read around and decided to update to GEN D3 full. Avatar now works perfect!! This is so easy and everything has worked with each install.

i was trying to install this on my psp 1000(phat). Upgrading from PSP Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-B. it froze on me while trying to ‘flash something,’ (prob should of paid more attention)and bricked my psp. Its cant access the recovery menu. so full brick.

Hello! I installed first cfw 5.00 m33-6, using ChickHEN r2 and hellcats flaseh 1.60, then i updated it to CFW 5.50 GEN-D3, and now all i need is working as charm.
Question is, can i delete those files after instaling cfm, so my little brother can’t screw things by running CFW 5.50 GEN-D3 update again cause it is under GAMES-Memory stick. thanks
OF COURSE you CAN delete them, man. They are on the memory stick, so it won’t affect the system. Did u try running jak and daxter the last frontier? i have the psp slim final fantasy limited and the game crashes :( can anyone help me? Should i downgrade to 5,50 gen B or C ? how do i do that ?

There’s a weird bug happening with Hot Pixel after i updated to Gen D3.
When updating to D3 as with many of the other users from here i got some corrupted savegames.
So after looking a while i found a method to recover them (using Freecheat and S.E.D.) and happened to recover all of them with the exception of Hot Pixel(EUR) savegame (in one of the steps i wasn’t able to get the required dump from it).
So i deleted it since anyway i didn’t have a lot of gameplay and restarted again.
But the problem is that while the main game seems to be working now, the DLC from Hot Pixel gives me the corrupt savegame message when i try to load them.
I don’t know what to do, since even if i delete both save files, or move the dump of the game to a different memory card and restart with a new file the problem happens again.
It would be great to see if someone has a suggestion on how to solve this or if someone has the same problem with that game.
Needs an update, or at least a patch for the saved files. I’m not going to replay FF2 in its entirety again.

Recently I can see that there are some games compatible with 5.50 GEN D3 which means I can’t run them on my psp right now.
I’d like to now if I upgrade my custom firmware to 5.03 Gen C can I play these game?

Blank Screen and Green Power Light Always On problem after upgrading to 5.50GEN-D3
Just to share with all of you on how I fixed this problem on my PSP Slim. I upgraded from 5.00 m33-6.
When I turn-on my PSP, the screen was blank and the green power light was always on. (I think the cause of this is when I tried the Pandora Battery option in the VSH menu.) My PSP still works when I remove the battery and power it with the charger.
To fix this, try the following steps:
1. Remove the battery and turn-on your PSP using the charger.
2. While PSP is ON, insert the battery.
3. Access the VSH menu (Select Button) and select the Normal Battery option. (I can’t remember if I also tried this option in recovery mode).
That’s it. I restarted my PSP with battery inside and without the charger and is now back to normal.
Additional Info: I think there is a bug in the Charge PSP while connected to USB option. When enabled, my PSP hangs. It shows the yellow background with no access to any menu.

just upgraded to this version and everything works great except for wifi it seems now that it attempts to connect to my AP then exchanges keys and then attempts to connect again. Goes through this cycle constantly so I’ve given up on wifi for now. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I currently have a phat psp2002 :)

I am running CFW 3.71 M33-3. SO I decided to upgrade to 5.50 GEN-D3. I have dowloaded it and extracted it and added it to my PSP. But I cant install the new CFW I keep getting an error that says: ms0:/550.PBP no found on root of your ms.

alwyn, u need to put the GEN-C 5.03 file in PSP -> Game. before u run the GEN-C 5.03 file, d/load “mhuspeed3″ 1st and put it in Root -> PICTURE. go to ur PSP and run mhuspeed3 file, ur display will crash and restar.after that go to games and access ur memory stick.run GEN-C 5.03 file.now check ur system setting -> system information. ur psp is using GEN-C 5.03
