JPCSP (Java PSP Emulator) Update: Progress Made w/ God of War *Updated*
greg | December 12, 2009
Update: Another noteworthy revision — revision 1280… And that adds two more playable titles:
- SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo
- Fired Up
Expect an official Christmas release soon.
Normally we steer clear of posting unofficial JPCSP builds; however, this time ’round — official or unofficial — I feel it definitely deserves some love… Newcomers know this: JPCSP is an open source attempt at emulating the PlayStation Portable under Java. Some games are in fact playable. Click here.

And as of revision 1273, JPCSP now reaches the God of War menu. The menu! No game play yet; the point is it’s progress and damn good progress at that. So while we wait for the next official JPCSP release, you may care to experiment with rev. 1277.

1st hehe
wow this sounds pretty awesome gunna try it out
1st? 1st what? 1st time you ever sucked a dick was today? Uhm, 1st time you were taken by a prison guard was today?
People, if we make fun of people who do this, we can eventually end it.
why did that post make me think of the hamburgler?
you can do it as many times as you want but i dont think it will stop…
Yea but its still fun to make fun of them.
LOL you’re such a newfag XD
OMG your first woo I envy you lol
great, now the psp’s hardware won’t sell as well.
wish they would have used a more powerful language tho.. JAVA will require power house pc’s in order to emulate the psp at a good speed.
at least, to emulate good games.. like.. err.. God of War.
I was thinking this too, It would be fucking hilarious to see someone release this as a web applet lmfao.
Anyways, You’d think with the ease of C++ someone wouldn’t just come by and do the same? Java isn’t exactly the best programming language to be doing this kinda stuff in but either way, Props to the developers who’ve made this possible. Goodluck!!!
maybe this is what its going for? who knows, PSP on he web! hell its possible, jus a long loading time though..
Yeah who would write an emulator in Java? Pfffft. C, C++, and Assembly are the only languages appropriate for writing emulators, unless you’re emulating like a toaster or something. :-p
PSP Emulation would have been best served through ASSEMBLY but sadly, it seems they want to use JAVA for what ever reason. While hope is near gone, we can expect a light at the end of the tunnel because …
Someone will eventually port it to C++ or ASSEMBLY and thus, a fast emulator will be born.
If anything, if the menu is ever emulated we can test our homebrew to make sure they load.
interesting, will give a go.
OMFG A MENU!!! hahaha….Well, progress is progress I suppose…Who knows, maybe this will actually be playable one day…
good thing i bought PSP 3 years ago instead for waiting for emu :D
just shoved manhunt 2 in to see what happens & it didnt work like I expected. Oh well, I can still play on my PC with remotejoy.
lol a menu..
maybe in another 5 years you’l be able to select an change the options lol
in a year, probably less, they got 20+ games working and a ton of others loading but crashing somewhere, it might not look much to you but this is where it stars, eventually the growth of playable games is going to be exponential…
besides, they don’t create emulators so you can play games for free, the best ps2 emulator is still in development today even when the console is almost dead and everyone already played the games for it
All you pirates are belong to us.
can anybody confurm if phantasy star portable works on this? and just wondering, if it does, is ther any kind of internet connection play on this? or a way to transfer save data from psp to save data for this program? meh, guess i’l DL and check it out, but still ansure if u can :) would appriceate it.
sry for all the mispellings its hella late.
I’m pretty sure it can handle save games (I am only assuming as I did use this before and have seen the folders for it) I don’t know if any game for that matter is playable, From previous posts I’ve seen only Emulators as far as Nes being played on JPCSP.
I don’t think they’d beable to have it connect to be playing online just yet I mean, They do have to figure out the whole “Try to atleast get a game running for that matter at stable FPS and get by the menu…”
You crawl before you can run.
guess i shoulda read the other comments b4 i posted mine.
but yeah thx for the feedback.
Yawn!
Imposter!
psp emu is getting somewhere nice. as for the ps2 emu the issue wasn’t the ps2 lifespan but how they made it. they reversed engineer demos. its not the fastest way to make a emu but it is wile timely the most stable way. hence why 90% of the games playable on the ps2 emu are rock solid stable. in short they made the emu backwards.
This deserves more props Greg, there seem to be some actual fully playable games, follow the link you inserted:

this emulator.
will destroy.
the PSP universe.
-YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED-
I really wish they would have waited till the PSP was like the PS2, abandoned in favor of a new system. Its great someone is working on a emulator but having this is only going to make the pirates invest in better computers instead of investing in the handheld. I can already see Sony making the PSP2 and abandoning the PSP at somepoint in the near future.
If anything, we will get a better handheld, but will be unable to hack it since they will have learned from the PSP.
But who knows, they forgot to include copy protection on oFW 1.00.
when im gonna open the game it says. General Error: File format not supported!
What should i do?
Ye I get the same problem.I dontknow what to do.Pls help!
