Anyone who’s executing unsigned EBOOTs by way of ChickHEN may wanna give this a whirl… It’s reportedly faster and has a higher success rate when it comes to actually doing the job; you know — enabling homebrew. And that reminds me, where’s ChickHEN R3 at anyway?

ATTENTION…When I tried to download this mhu, Windows (Not the PSP) said that speed.bin was corrupted and would not download it. Is this file necessary to run this? If it is can you fix this problem so I can download the file??????

Yes, it should. And I suppose you’d have to have firmware 5.03 to run this.

This doesn’t support .prx files does it? I heard ChickHEN R3 got scrapped so there goes the .prx support I was hoping for.
I am pretty sure you need the’CFW’ loader (I prefer CFWEnabler 3.60) to load prxs. I have a friend with an unhackable motherboard, I put this in, in place of ChickHen R3 which was unreliable, and I have him using CFWEnabler 3.60, he can run all his isos and homebrews just fine, and use PRX’s (such as GameCategories)
hi, guys, can you tell me how to do when I enter my picture folder with this new chickhen.
Open your picture memory stick menu thing, wait for your MS light to stop flashing, open the next directory, and then it ought to work :)
Works on 32 gig on first try, i can now remove the one gig chickhen stick hidden inside the umd door.
Chickhen never work on 32 gig before.

1. extract it (ofcourse download first)
2. copy the pictures in the photo
3. place the speed.bin in the root of your psp
and thats it. It should be working
and by the way delete tht chickenHEN and your h.bin in the root of your psp. just simply replace it………..

When game crashes stop working for some reason, need to replace the files again, and then it works again.

Confirm with 3 picture folders. Crash on picture folder 1, need to use picture folder 2 or 3, once you use teh picture folder cannot use it again! I guess can make ten picture folders incase crash 9 times lOL

ChickHEN and MHUSPEED v3 are HOMEBREW ENVIRONMENTS. Not custom firmwares, which require loading of extra files. If you want isos, use CFWEnabler 3.60.

Ok found none of the previous post is reliable method.
Make two speed picture folders. Go to picture menue then press up and down really fast to scroll between the two folders, quickly press x button, test works 3 out 4 times on 32 gig.

Cracked! Works 10 out of 12 times. Success 7 in a row , failed on 8th and 10th try
Make two picture folders. As soon as you enter the picture menu scroll down to the second folder. When you see the second folder icon turn from blank to a small picture quickly scroll up to first folder and press x.

I use Chickhen and Senda, and it works 100% of the time, I really do not see the point of this, anywho.. Nice job.
The speed.bin and mhu.jpg files are actually hex edited versions of h.bin and slim_mod2.tiff from ChickHEN mod2. Only the activation method was changed. In ChickHEN mod2 xmb loads thumbnails of 4 gif files (egg images) sequentially wheres in this version the xmb loads 1 gif, 1 jpg, 1 gif, 1 jpg sequentially plus the 3 jpgs outside of the mhuspeed3 folder which significantly increases the chance of the hack activating.
Replace speed.bin with h.bin and mhu.jpg with slim_mod2.tiff from ChickHEN mod2 and you’ll get my point.

Yup. So very sad… The ability to run plugins would’ve been great. The battery percentage plugin would’ve been very useful for updating PSPs to 5.03 without that stupid 50%-55% limit.
But meh, I guess Sony made it so for a reason. It’s definitely not a good idea for the battery to die on you while updating a TA-088v3 or a 3k.
Get CFWEnabler 3.60 (made for ChickHEN, compatible with this), and you can use plug-ins and more… It’s great.

Yeah, that probably means you deleted speed.bin from the root of your ms (or you didn’t copy it there in the first place).
no is there, just wont work, even i reset the theme to original and the system settings as well, just wont work, everything is there and right place too. any ideas how to get it to work?

well MHUspeedV3 is actually quite good.load faster than R2,success rate is 98-100%..but when i put bunch of folder contained wallpaper,photos and stuff inside PICTURE folder,V3 just freeze.i tried serveral times and yet i failed..v3 seems work fine when i remove another file aside from v3 from the PICTURE folder..sigh..how am i suppose to keep my wallpaper,pict and ect if v3 keep freeze.thats why i stick with R2..i wish i could get another Memstick just for hacking..LoL
Or you could make a folder called “Picture 2″ or “Wallpapers” or “Photosssz”, whatever and open them with PSP Filer. Didn’t that cross your mind ?
The default picture browser is crappy anyway. PSP Filer displays them much quicker. I used to read manga on my PSP through PSP Filer because of it’s speed instead of scrolling and waiting a few seconds for the image to clear in the official browser. Give it a shot but keep in mind that the PSP was designed for games primarily and multimedia secondary. If you want multimedia primarily get an iPod touch.
Anyway. As long as you keep away from the “Picture” folder it will be a-OK.

i tried it for serveral times and same thing happened.cursed that MHUspeedV3..and now i still stick with chickHEN R2..where the hell are you chickHEN R3?!!!
I was having problem both with chickhen & chickhenR2.Tried more than 100 times,got success only 1 time.But now with mhuspeed i can easily install custom firmware.Tried 7 times,got success 3 times.Hands off man.THANKS A BILLION.
I’m having real trouble with this ever since i stuck on a CTF theme and it reset, it used to work regularly but now its as bad as chickHen R2 dunno whats happened, any ideas i can try?
This its a fake, its the same ChickHEN R2 but with the name changed. Only compare the two version with a Hex Editor for prove that. MHU Team are just thief.

It works fine.
Make sure to delete “ChickHen” or “h.bin” or “egghunt.bin” files & folder in there, because it can cause the MHUSPEED to error. All these files must be deleted for it to work.
Delete any files in “PICTURE”/”PHOTO” folder.
Other pictures/wallpapers/folders/etc. in the “PICTURE” or “PHOTO” folder must not be in there as well.
Copy “PICTURE” folder and “speed.bin” file from “mhuspeed3″ folder and paste it into your memory stick.
Safely remove device and try it now, on your psp, select “Picture” and enter “mhuspeed3″ and select the second picture and poof a green&black background will appear on your psp screen.
Try again if it didn’t work. It worked for me after the second time.

Unbelievable fast! Just open the mhuspeed3 folder and… booooooom… your psp 3000 has been homebrew enabled. I would say it is as fast as speed of light :))
I also found that the comment by MONSTAROCO (2009-12-09 15:42:59) is very useful. Please look at it if you can’t get MHU worked in first place!

I have found the following factors contribute to the success or failure of the hack, at least for me and my PSP 3000.
1. The language of the system. Best results are from English. This seems to play a large role.
2. The Character Set. Best results US. Minor Role.
3. The fragmentation of the files. If you don’t know what this means, just format your Memory Stick fresh and copy the files over as appropriate. Doing this anyway allows for best results.
4. The amount of other pictures on the card. Minor to major factor, depending on the volume.
Of course this was the same for ChickHen but now it seems to work 1 of 1 times, as opposed to 1 of 4 or 1 of 10 depending on the size of the card used. However it still seems as though you need to carry a seperate card around with you for the best results.

i just want to share my experience here.
tried to execute it nearly 24 hours but still failed. my psp just hang and off itself. Then, i removed the memory card, on and off my psp 3 times, insert back the memory card, and suddently, it works. thanks god…
