Update: It is what it is… I dug up my PSP-1000, loaded 5.50 GEN-D2, ran the installer for this fatmsmod hack job, and yeah — memory stick access is faster. I’m slapping the Dashhacks Seal of Approval on this one — FATMS HAX MOD by nOspoonX. Try it.
I know some of you have been asking for this… So here it is — the memory stick speedup hack for 5.50 GEN-D2. You may better know it as 3.71 fatmsmod. This release is for PSP-1000 only. But the good news doesn’t end there… Mr. Shizzy confirms that Dark_AleX’s 3.71 fatmsmod for 5.00 M33 works on the PSP-2000 too.
Now with something like this you gotta be on your best and ensure you backup flash0, you have your pandora battery nearby, and you’re ready to restore your PSP incase shit blows up. I’m gonna try it out. I’ll let you know how it goes…

This is really old. I did it once and it screwed up everything. Some ISOs wouldnt work at all, killzone liberation wouldn’t connect to internet, and Motorstorm crashes randomly and wont connect to the internet.
I would not recommend that anyone use this (at least on a slim…)

Its youre own fault for trying it out in a slim, If you had been a normal human being and used the FatMSMod corretly then it would not have bricked. So dont critisize others for your own mistake. greg also states to make sure you have a pandora to recover from a brick which you obviouslyly do not have. so stfu.

Just tested on my phat (Gen-D2). Ran 3 games (Gundam VS Gundam, Macross Ultimate Frontier, GT). Speed is dramatically increased after patch applied. Although not as fast as it was in 5.00 m33 but this is a big improvement. Kudos GJ!! Thanks for your good work!!

get psardumper for 3.71 and 3.71 ofw.put psardumper in ur game on memory card and put the eboot for 3.71 on the root of mem.run
them search the f0 that was just put on there and u will find fatmsmod.prx
I cant get Go tube to play with sound now and R:R wont go to career mode it just hangs and shuts the system off, all after instaling this.
Glad I have my pandora, this shit bricked my PSP. Said it was patched and then hung in black screen with mem indicator flashing. Restarted still had same problem, flashed 1 & reformatted with no change. Had to go old-school on this hoe, revert to m33>GD2 & try again ! Just forewarning for anyone attempting this without a pandora: DON’T DO IT !

With a 1001, that answer i almost always “yes”.
This is pretty old already.
I have it on my psp 2001 and it works fine, it’s not as good as 5.00 m33 speed, but it’s still faster than normal.
I still recommend a backup just in case.
Just tested on my slim, as I keep my pandora battery in it, and I do not recommend installing it. I’m not sure if its because I use game categories but after installing every iso I have on there showed up as corrupted. If you like your psp working properly don’t do it.
the patch attached, make MP3 playback shutters, game categories plugin conflict with this patch. it shows the game as corrupted, though loading of homebrew has significant speed improvements.

This is a workaround to use the FATMS371 speedup hack with 5.50-GEND2.
This is a hack, nothing more. I did not write these prx modules I simply came up with a way
to make FATMS371 coexsist with the decryption components of 5.50 GEN_D2 which until now
was not possable.

Thing it like a aquarium, you have small one and go and buy for it one small debit pump (like 200L/per hour) but few months lather you go and buy the BIG aquarium (like 500L) and if are you just thing to putt the pump who is in the small one in the big one you must know is been useless and you must go and buy the new one , big one like (2000L/per hour) and this is the same with this prx’s cores and files, when new come up new must created . Sorry for the long post but i thing I’m lida bit right ;)

Okay guys I posted the discussion thread and please read it cuz the conflict between game categories and fatmsmod is normal.It’s not a bug in this one cuz I tested the normal fatmsmod with my PSP came with same results , when in context browser with any fatmsmods most of categories will be just full of corrupted data.and svr 2010 works perfectly with me with this fatmsmod . and this is only for psp 1000 for people who’re complaining that it doesn’t work with psp slim , greg said that it’s only for psp 1000.

no 5.50 gen-d isn’t okay with psp 2000 ta-088v3 it’ll permanently brick it with no fix except sony.
5.03 GEN-B is ok with psp 2000 ta-088v3 and psp 3000.
I got 5.50GEN- D2 for my psp 100 and i downloaded the right one and when in installs the program it hets to 100% and goes to a black screen and the memory card light flickers every 3 seconds non-stop. and when i reboot it just just the flicker thing foreva with the black screen and so i cant boot up until i turn it off, i cant get past that. i have to take the memory stick out to get it to load, i have tried reinstalling it many times, whats wrong?
Hello Alex.Try this
1-Turn on your PSP with no memory sticks inside , then after booting it go to setting system settings and keep the PSP on format memory stick , insert the memory stick then quickly press format memory stick
2-If the PSP doesn’t even read the memory stick , then in this case you might need to connect it to the pc via a card reader then format it through the PC

I can start the psp without the memory stick fine and i can format it and shit like normal, its just when i install this program something is mucking it up or it is mucking something up. BTW i tryed formatting it and reinstalling it but same thing happens when i install it, but thankyou for ur efforts and time, its good to see that there are people who do like to help :)

Perfect, not exactly a huge increase in speed, but better than nothing to be honest with you.
All my homebrew/isos are still functioning perfectly myself, even game categories, thanks alot nOspoonX.

What version of game_categories plugin you are using? mine use the latest version v12, has anyone can confirm this works with recent version of game categories?

Erm yeh im using v12 it all works fine, apart from the installation process.
Where because the fatmsmod installer doesn’t recognise the cat_xx folder structure, you just have to put it outside it. Just in psp/game etc.
But other than that im having no issues like corrupted icons, failure to boot games like some of these comments seem to state.
Sorry about that its almost perfect. Just changed game categories settings to ‘context browser’ mode and that greeted me with a few corrupted icons, but i dont use that mode, so im happy.
However im sure one of the plugins will release an update to fix the matter soon enough.
This works with v11 and v12 tested by me , but context browser doesn’t work for me with this application for some reason , corrupted data.
But other modes work fine , I use multiple MS mode and it’s functioning properly

Dark Alex’s Speed up MS access feature is better than the 3.71 fatmsmod. He even released a benchmark plugin to prove it and for us to test it ourselves.
I didn’t know that Dark Alex’s fatmsmod didn’t work on the Phat until now. Way to go team GEN… That’s why I’m sticking to 5.00 M33-6 with Speed up MS access activated (at least for now).
Decrypting the newer games isn’t that hard (5 minutes tops) and I can always get them decrypted from “places” (and by “places” I mean torrent trackers), thank you very much.
PS: For TA-088v3 and 3000 owners there’s 5.03 MHU which makes use of the Speed up MS access feature (because they used modules from 5.00 M33-6).
I will just change the modes of game_categorie plugin for now, but what I can say it just work as advertise i’m using PhotoFast CR-5400 with 16 Gb of ram. It works now better.

Tried it on my PSP-2004, the “installation” went smooth, no brick or anything, but couldn’t read my iso’s or cso’s :( All the eboots worked well thou.
Anyone knows about this? Running 5.50 GEN-D2 as everyone should do! I really like that FW :D
Is there a way to alter the speed of the memory? When I am playing multi-player with my brother my games load faster than his and cut out because it takes too long to wait for his to load. It would be great if there was an option for slowing down the memory stick.
Don’t be stupid. You should make his PSP load faster not yours slower. Anyway. The Speed up MS access feature from 5.00 M33-6 is better than the fatmsmod patch. Think about it. If fatmsmod was perfect why would DAX bother with it ?
I advice everyone using LUA Player Euphoria to not use this on a 5.50 GEN-D2 on a PSP-200x at least. It made my apps to corrupted data :( Sadly as it increased the loading speed on LBP quite a bit. Otherwise it worked well :)

@zhao : You can downgrade from gen-d2 to 5.00 m33-6 normally via hellcat’s recovery flasher so update to 5.50 GEN-D2 and don’t worry :D
You shouldn’t give out “seals of approval” to homebrew stuff, remember they do this for FREE and generously decide to share their work with the community. Imagine you were handing out muffins you baked for free to passerby and people were grading you on them.
I think you got it twisted… The “seal of approval” signifies that it works and it isn’t something that’ll just brick your PSP.
But if someone gives you a really good muffin, you compliment them and tell them what a good job they did. If their muffins stink, they get negative feedback, if nothing.

U3R is a patch of gen which added the speed up memory stick access from 5.00 m33-6
I mean that U3R is a mod of gen that adds the 5.00 m33-6 speed up memory stick access to gen-a.It’s combatiple with 5.50 GEN-A , after you install it you can install 5.50 U3R then 5.50 U3R-2.

VSH Menu has SHUTDOWN DEVICE option.
Recovery Menu has SPEEDUP MS options.
PSX games may work, but I’m not 100% sure (this means NOT TESTED).
I guess the recovery menu says U3R recovery menu but it’s in real m33′s recovery menu since it’s red and everything looks just like the m33′s recovery menu.

Put this on my old PSP-1000, noticed odd glitches when playing back media files. Ran the uninstall and it bricked the psp…
People having issues with this : It must be something wrong with YOUR psp , cuz I’m using this and uninstalled and reinstalled it many times with no problems , no brick and everything works fine.greg personally used it and he said it’s working perfectly
All you guys having problems just use Dark Alex’s original fatmsmod (at least on slim) works fine aside form the curupt icons in Context browser mode in game catoagories decrypts and boots games fine for me and speedup is very noticable at least in GT

tried it and it wouldn’t work with my plugins enabled and would just go to a black screen when I turned on my PSP. turned them off and it worked again, but my plugins allow me 8 hours battery life so a memory speedup is not worth it, especially when I’ve got m33 on DCv8
