PSP Firmware 6.20 Released; PSPgo Exploit Patched

Update: Hate to say I told ya so… But FreePlay has confirmed it — the recently discovered PSPgo save game exploit has been patched in firmware 6.20. Womp waaa…
You may miss it if you’re using 5.50 GEN-D2… That reports the latest version of the system software is already installed, which is no longer the case… Firmware 6.20 is live right now.
What’s new? Straight from Eric Lempell:
- Digital Comics Reader – PlayStation Network Digital Comics is a new service launching in December. It will allow you to download hundreds of classic and new comics from the PlayStation Store and read them page by page or frame by frame on your PSP system. Firmware update (v6.20) includes the Digital Comics reader application, which you’ll find under a new section called “Extras” on the XMB. Please note, the comic reader is an additional download; once you’ve loaded (v6.20) onto your system, simply click on the comic reader icon under “Extras” to download it to your PSP. In addition, you’ll be able to try out a free digital comic sample from the service soon. Visit www.playstationcomics.com for more information.
- Export video/photo playlists – This is a new feature that allows you to export your video and photo playlists from your PC to your PSP system through Media Go. Download the latest version of Media Go (v1.3) for this and a few additional enhancements.
I wouldn’t be updating so quickly if you’re a PSPgo owner, or an owner of any Pandora-proof PSP for that matter… Wait and see whether or not this update patches the recently discovered/rumoured exploit that my main man Beaker covered earlier last week. We’ll keep you posted.

I kinda had to download it because I wanted to get assasin’s creed, but I was wondering that in the new extra section of the xmb is there going to be downloadable apps? When you click on the comic thing it says you need to download the app data. This leads me to believe there are going to be more apps for the psp.
Sweet, digital comics…..I can’t wait to browse through in search of old school freshness,..providing there is such a savory selection of classic titles, ..and I ain’t talking no damn Archie Bunker either. The price will surely be a factor as well I assume.
Damn, LBP will be released in the next couple of days. I just hope that PSPGo exploit will be released soon in a nice Dark Alex-esque format :3

If I remember correctly the reason that DA didn’t update his CFW was because it didn’t bring anything new to the PSP.
I personally think we wont hear from DA anymore… but that’s just my 2 cents.
I have a feeling this means a 5.50 GEN-E or GEN-D3 will be coming out shortly with the 6.20 keys in it. Also, I heard that Yoshihiro is going to be taking a look at working on a 6.X CFW.
I really hope a CFW 6.20/6.10 comes out. Though at least I can play Dissidia (which I bought) on 5.50-D2. Thanks GEN team!

i downloaded firmware 6.20 trough network update. but all my downloaded games are not accessible that are on my memory card. can anyone tell me where or how i can play my downloaded games??

The Digital Comics app has a built in MP3 player and creates a BOOK folder on your memory stick. The free sample download isnt available yet. I quess we will have to look forward for some Sargent Rock or Magnus-Robot Fighter.
Please make a 6.20 cfw i hope they can make it :D

and were still running “blast from the past” 5.50… anybody else think the CFW scene is kinda a fail now? i mean, i got 2 psps, one for 5.50gen-d2 and i just popped this on my other one, and its pretty sweet, cant wait to try the mediago. anyways, idk, cfw for this would be nice but its not gonna happen, were just gonna keep getting 5.50gen x437. so yeah, whatever.
So what if we get 5.50GENx437 as long as I can play the newest games I’ll be happy with it, as far as the comic reader goes there has been a homebrew one for ages. Keep it up GEN I’ll gladly install 5.50GENx437, if thats where things go

No, you have to buy the comics from the PS Store in some new format.
Not trying to sound like an ass or anything but we REALLY need a 6.20 CFW so that we can access PSN and play games online…I mean, if I can’t use part of a game I BOUGHT, such as Resistance or MotorStorm, then why buy them? It makes no sense for me to pay for something I cannot use…
Then just use official firmware to play the games you bought and online LIKE YOU ARE SUPPOSE TO, instead of whining like a retard in here.

I wonder if you could download the new reader, and copy it into ms0:/PSP/APP and to the GAME folder also(like the old GO messenger) and boot it from CFW?
The free demo is now online. Use EC2N-9HBR-HJD6 on a 6.20 PSP only. Media Go does not work. The format inside the BOOK folder is a .MNB file. Also a MLN_ROOT + LICENSE folder is created. Its about 45mb in size. Looks good and you can play your MP3s while reading. Now for some Zap Comics and Heavy Metal.

if u have a pandora and magic memory stick then just downgrade back to ur cfw, if not ur fucked my friend, atleast until u can make another of the 2, or just buy the 2 online.
