AutoStart PRX v5.2 Released *Updated*

greg | November 17, 2009

Update: Many of you have no doubt experienced problems… That said, roe-ur-boat has released AutoStart PRX v5.2. Please report back whether or not this test build works for you.

Roe, roe, roe-ur-boat has a new version of AutoStart PRX out… You’ll merrily, merrily, merrily be diggin’ this release as it adds GEN custom firmware and Game Categories support.

AutoStart PRX Configurator Screenshot

The name is self-explanatory… Automatically start homebrew, PSX games or ISOs on boot by pressing and holding whatever configured button. There’s an AutoStart configuration app included, as shown above.

AutoStart PRX v5.1:

  • Fixed a bug where the configurator would crash if an eboot had no name.
  • Now scans GAME5XX for games too.
  • Now supports GEN firmwares.
  • Added support for Bubbletune’s Game Categories plugin.

Alternative to using this thing:

First of all, PSP Filer can change the XMB icons (triangle and the left arrow) but you can also use “homebrewSorter”.

Next, place the game/program you wish to start quickly after boot right to the TOP OF THE LIST and whenever you double press the X button on the Memory Stick icon (from Game, of course), it will start. And it only takes you like 2 seconds tops.

Hahaha, or you could use this plug-in. Also, your method is great for launching ONE app/game, whereas with this, it looks like you can launch no fewer that nine separate apps/games depending on the press.

You don’t need more than one. Actually, come to think of it, you don’t even need ONE. Putting your favorite game at the top of the list (which, btw, it does automatically if you copy the ISO/app lastly) and double pressing X on the memory stick icon is more than enough, in my opinion.

If this could start CFWLoader upon boot that would be sweet. But it doesn’t. Because you NEED CFWLoader to load plugins first.

Something useful (for me at least) would be automatically activating LEDControl.prx to switch off the power LED once the PSP starts. Other than that I find this to be pretty useless.

I hear what you’re saying about not needing more than one (I don’t have any interest in this whatsoever), but I guess some people are mad lazy and insist upon having a slate of options available right from start up.

I guess my issue is that most of the time I spend on PSP is on drunker weekend nights when I get home, and I don’t really know what I wanna play, hahah. It usually ends up being an emulator, or some RPG where I can grind levels (until my lady tells at me to go to fucking sleep).

Hmmm. I dunno whether to feel unlucky or not. I have 5.50 GEN-D2, and when I load up the Configurator, it just shows a black screen. Weird… I don’t get an error. When I exit the game my psp crashes.

I’m suddenly having problems too… I get the configurator screen, can browse through the items, but when I try to assign homebrew to whatever button, it just sits there. It doesn’t freeze, I can still L/R through the screens and exit to the XMB, but nothing ever happens when pressing X on a selected button.

I’ll add my name to the list of that. Using 5.00 M33-6, selecting a button before assigning homebrew to it leaves me staring at the screen, unable to move any cursor or select homebrew. Though I can’t L/R through the pages afterwards, it just freezes.

My psp freezes when I try to assign the button. I can get out of the app by pressing HOME, but can’t go use L+R. I’m running 5.00 M33.

This is awesome, thanks so much! It’s a little bit of irShell for the kid who doesn’t want to go through the hassle of updating irShell.
Thanks!

Can This boot UMDs? Because I play Killzone: Liberation all the time…And also Socom FTB2…even if this can only boot ISOs that will be fine too, I will just use “Auto-Start UMD” for KZL

And CoderPR seems to think that this app is the “Tetris” mini… It pops up saying “Game ID: NPUZ-0003″ and all my hacks for it….Even without having a UMD in the drive…

As much as I hate blatant things that are said like that, I have to agree. Please contact me on my website when you are done with that background.

Same here, I’ll eagerly await a stable release. That way I don’t have to wait forever when I navigate my games/homebrew =P
