PSP Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B Coming Soon… Halloween Day Soon!

Attention PSP-3000 owners, or those less fortunate sporting a TA-088v3-enabled 2000; a new custom firmware has been scheduled for release come Halloween day. I’m talking about Team GEN and CFW 5.03 GEN-B.
Considering it’s been awhile I’ll give you a little background; you know, in case you’re new to this… Back in May Team Typhoon released ChickHEN — the homebrew enabler — enabling homebrew on PSP-2000 TA-088v3 and PSP-3000 models running firmware 5.03. Shortly after we witnessed a flurry of CFWEnabler updates from Becus25 and Xenogears, which of course, you guessed it, enabled select custom firmware features — plugins, ISOs, etc. After a few of those, Team GEN showed up, and just like a mother abandoning her newborn, leaves 5.03 GEN-A on the scenes doorstep. Becus25 and Xenogears continued on while GEN focused on other successful endeavours. Now we’re left with today and the future that is Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B.
PSP Custom Firmware 5.03 GEN-B will feature:
- PSP-2000 v3 and PSP-3000 support
- PS1/PSOne game compatibility
- Run protected UMDs/backups
- Run 5.55+ required UMDs/backups
- GEN VSH MENU
- Recovery in VSH
In the meantime, get a head start by downloading:

Nope, cant because SONY!!!!!!!!!!! patched the Chicken hack after 5.03…so its impossible. Unless they found a different way to run the Chicken without going into the picture folder.

Man i wish they would come out with a CFW for 3000 that was for 5.51… I wish I knew then not to update
If you could find an old 3K in some store buy it then put the one with 5.51OFW installed in the box and return it. Buy one at a local store that looks as if it has been there a while, if it does have a OFW above 5.03 just return it, if it doesn’t swap yours with that one then return it, its not hard to make a PSP that doesn’t work.
This was the method to get a 1.50 firmware PSP back in “The Beginning” :P

I thought they had forgot about us PSP 3K owners, and to those of you who updated beyond 5.03OFW, it sure sucks to be you. I’ve got 5.50GEN D2 on my fat and will be switching to this on my 3K. Team GEN and YOSHIHIRO are the SH!T!!! Keep up the great work. M33 is quickly becoming a thing of the past, which is unfortunate, the loss of such talent is never a good thing if M33 and GEN could come together we would all be in for even more greatness(one can dream).

If I am not mistaken, And do correct me if I am wrong. I think this just allows the execution of another “enabler” like CFW Enabler. What this appears to be is 5.50 Gen’s features (The decrypting of games without the need to decrypt them in the first place) onto the PSP’s that can’t be fully hacked.
I don’t think this “CFW” means an actual fully functional “Boot up into CFW without Hen Exploit”. It probably is just a GEN-A Spin off, So expect to be loading ChickHEN.

once this comes out (or if you want to install gen-a), hold the r-trigger while loading cfwenabler. this is kind of like the recovery menu for cwfenabler. choose “uninstall” and then exit. then run the gen-b (or gen-a) installer. to switch back just run the cfwenabler again and choose uninstall again to uninstall the gen and go back to mhu.

look can you read, you need to be running 5.03 official firmware or lower (if lower update to 5.03 for this to work)… if you got a higher one well give up, and fot the love of god dont update, and wait until an exploit for a higher firmware is found that allows custom firmwares, (heres a hint, they are trying to find an exploit on psp go which is a minimum 6.0 firmware)
also its using a custom firmware enabler not flasher so no its not permemant meaning as long as you dont shut down (i mean shut down and not sleep) it wont go away but if you do shut down all you need to do is run chicken hen again and run the custom firmware again….
unless there is a new chicken hen or similar there wont be a permenent custom firmware, especially one different version custom firmware because chicken hen doesnt give access to the flash, you know where the firmware is installed

I never got that fuckin R2 to work so I used this modified version of it until I upgraded to m33.

REALLY APPREATIATE what ur doing i used to run 5.03 gen-a but then started using 5.03 MHU cuz of ms speed up. could u do it for 5.03 gen-b too. and plus remove constant crashing of homebrew by taking a lot of RAM.could u also block shuting down of psp just make it to fo to sleep and add support for ir shell iso loading… hope u GEN guys take my suggestions. THAX A lot for doing this. COOLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO MORE DECRYPTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WTF is wrong with pspgen they keep making snes emu’s but this one is slower than the last one and looking at the frame rate by 10 f’s? what ever it is is 10 slower than last one I wish I could program cuz this one they are using needs to be remade or stripped and rebuilt but thanks for trying.
You’re talking about the Oct 23rd release – snes9xTYLmecm 091023rd – right? And I don’t think pspgen is actually making the snes emu, or updating it or maintaining it, or anything like that… But thanks for trying and letting us know about the speed.

will this work on a PSP 2K v1/v2, i just love the feeling of loading the chickHEN on my hackable PSP together with CFWEnabler 3.60 or the 5.03MHU, but i switch to GEN D2, just a while ago to ease myself on decrypting and patching games. Thats the magic of PSP 2K v1/v2 and the 1K….the time machine!

I have a fat psp running custom M33. I didn’t want the PSP 3000 until I saw the purple one. That is a must have! But the 5.50 official firmware is preventing me from purchasing it. Hopefully some sweet genius will release something that can run on a PSP running ofw 5.50!
