What?! Did this just happen? After receiving an email from mist3rgrinch saying PlayStation Store access had been cut off for 5.50 GEN users I equipped my PSP-2000 and tried myself…
So be it — 5.50 GEN-B2 — access denied. Who’s got the workaround? The ol’ version.txt trick doesn’t work.

I googled this error code, and it seems to be a Server problem at the Sony end.
And yes it connects up to the PSN again on my PS3, thankfully. :o)

I doubt this is a CFW block in particular, they have probably just upped the general requirement to 6.0/1 for everyone.

I have not seen sales for the Go, but Sony is doing damn well with the slim. Sales are no longer high up in the sky sure, but what did you expect, that can only last for a while before they go back down. The thing is, it is doing much, I repeat, MUCH better than the old PS3’s.
Apple is dominating phones and mp3 players. Not video games. Apple’s iTouch/phone games are not even close to being as intricate as PSP games.
Also, Sony probably already has a PSP 2 in their plans somewhere. When they release info on it, whether it be a year from now or five, people will flock to it.

well…i juz hope Team GEN would come out a new CFW 6.XX which enable us to play 5.55 games above and also allow us to enter the PSN without any problem or error and plus they shud hack the psp Go Firmware.Hopefully team GEN is reading tis.
You do know that the PSP Go and all PSP’s have the same FW. To my knowledge there is not one that is directly specific to one model. Hacking the firmware would only mean that we with already hacked PSP’s can use it. The Go would not be able to because it would be running official firmware and would not allow you to run the CFW update.
The only way to hack the Go is to find some sort of hardware or software exploit that will allow you to load CFW onto it.
The PSP GO has already shown a Hello World and proven it has the capability to be hacked.

Honestly, there was a point in time where this would have annoyed the hell out of me… but after playing PSP games online for a while, and dealing with cheaters literally ruining the community by causing legit players to get frustrated and leave, I’m sort of reluctantly welcoming this change.
Who the fuck wants to play a game when you have fifteen people running around with invincibility and rapid-fire cheats or whatever the fuck active? Cheaters are the reason I opted out of buying online games I’d love to play otherwise, such as Resistance Retribution. I’m not going to pay 50 bucks for a shitty online experience thanks to people who somehow find using those cheats and alienating every legit player fun and enjoyable.
Now that there’s been more quality games coming out, I’m honestly more interested in playing legit PSP games instead of using it as a portable hand-held emulation device like I was before.
Just hear me out guys, I absolutely understand where you’re coming from when you say this is a bullshit move on Sony’s part- but try to think of how much the online PSP game community will improve as a result of this… at least until the next CFW exploit comes out to circumvent this, and the cheaters come out in droves.

Oh, you bunch of hypocrites! Whining, whining, yet nobody has a solution. Well, try this for getting PSN Store content onto your CFW PSPs…sorry, this won’t work for online gaming though.
Locate and download a copy of Media Go 1.1 (it won’t require your system to be at 6.0 to work with the store. It’s a little difficult to find, but you should be able to then download games to your CFW-based system. Sorry, I know Media Go is an unstable mess, but this should work. I had to do this recently when I needed to get my recent PSPgo downloads onto my PSP-1001.

Hey guys, I’m back. I tried my workaround just now, and no dice. While my PSP is still compatible with Media Go 1.1, there’s an updated Playstation Network downloader that is required to actually download games to the system – and once it’s applied, it tells you you need to update to the latest version of Media Go.
I doubt version.txt would work on the latest Media Go….anyone else want to try it? I’m on a train and my phone’s 3G internet coverage is spotty.
It does…I updated mine two days ago and it thinks im on 9.99 xD

You guys of course realize that, at some point, sony will ban psp’s by their HWID and thus you will never be able to access the sony store again. Kicking people off based on firmware is just a stop gap.
They would be totally screwing themselves since they would have to ban all psps below the pspgo to do get rid of all psps that can use cfw. (They will eventually update the cfw on the 3000 also) They would have very few customers left after that.
PS. If you were thinking of individual devices that have cfw on them they couldn’t do that. If they could detect cfw then they wouldn’t be banning whole firmware versions and they would have banned cfw awhile ago.

All you would have to do is download a mini(or anything else) on a OFW psp, transfer it to a CFW psp, decrypt it and patch it, then upload it for others to enjoy. This has done nothing to prevent piracy.
If anything, this ENCOURAGES piracy.
Sony is seriously picking on all CFW users.. they should accept the fact that PSP is created for us for playing backup isos and other custom features! Sony’s fucked up. Hope their plan for being like this will phail for life!

The only thing is that some people use cfw for is to play isos or csos of games they don’t own. I use cfw for homebrew applications such as nes emulators and pmplayer. Only dark alex can save u with cfw 6.10m33 and try to work around the problem. It sucks that you need to use firmware 6.10 to play games purchased from the Playstation Store. :(

if your that desperate to play psp online, get xlink kia on your pc. you can actually play more games online on xlink kia than you can on PSN. xlink kia uses ad hoc and not infrastructure so games like MHFU is online (its not on PSN)

In less than a month, Yoshihiro came with a solution.
DA went MIA for almost a year a long time ago if I’m not mistaken. He has done this before and like the rest of you I hope he returns sooner than later. He is one of the few people with real knowledge on quick, real, and stable releases. Even when he had bugs he fixed them very very quickly. I know we all hope to see him again down the road in the CFW scene.

They simply upped the PSN requirement to current firmware, like they always do. I’m actually surprised they even continued to allow 5.50 up to this point. They didn’t go out of their way JUST TO STOP YOUR AWESOME GEN-B. Get over yourselves.
I’ve never used the PSN store and checked it out today because I switched to 5.50 GEN. I only did it for games that require 5.55+ not for the store, so I don’t care. But if GEN or someone makes a cfw that works with the PSN stuff, great.
(I still think it was pointless. People won’t stop using cfw just because they can’t access the store :/ )

just to reiterate – changing version.txt to the latest firmware works using the latest media go. i just downloaded and transferred Pixeljunk Monsters, Holy Invasion Of Privacy Badman, and Fieldrunners to my PSP-1001 with 5.50 Gen B-2.

it wont let you do Online in games but you can still use version.txt + MediaGo to browse and access the PSN at the PC end. wont work on PSP or PS3 end.
