PSPConstructor: Create Homebrew with Ease
greg | September 8, 2009
Crack, crack, crack the egg into the bowl… Easier than baking a cake with PaRappa is creating homebrew with cbarox’s PSPConstructor.
With little or no programming knowledge you can point-and-click your way to homebrew heaven. Drag this, drop that, click, click, and compile. You just built your first homebrew app/game using the JGE++ engine.
Watch:
PSPConstructor Features:
- This program uses Visual Studio 2008’s devenv command line to compile your game under the Visual Studio 2008 environment. It uses the JGE++ to be able to run your created game under windows first before you transfer it to the PSP. The JGE++ engine also features:
- Hardware accelerated 2D rendering including scaling, rotations and colour blending.
- Geometry shapes rendering, including rectangle, circle, polygons and thick lines.
- Loading PNG, JPEG and GIF.
- Advanced multiple emitter and key frame based particle system.
- Bitmap fonts.
- Stereo WAV playback.
- Hardware MP3 decoding on PSP.
- Port of HGE helper classes: hgeParticleSystem, hgeDistortionMesh and hgeFont.

cool, im gonna try this. try to make a stupid little mario game…
looks like game maker :D defenately trying this because my code build games can’t be build thanx to my stupid pc ¬¬
cool this is like rpg maker (by enterbrain) for homebrew. I might take a look at this.
You mean like game maker…
U_U
so this can compile 2d homebrew games for psp in c++??
Is it in english
I finally read it all …(shy)I sounds pretty cool I defenetly should give it a try
It requires the devenv command line tools of Visual 2008. Does this mean that I have to own VS2008 or is the “express” free edition enough?
I have to admit, I’m sort of jealous for not thinking about this first.
Props dude
this is genius, a wonder it didnt come around earlier
Now we may get a lot more homebrew lol. Yay :)
Sure a lot more homebrew all the same thing…This will be like visual basic 6 was for windows software. Basically a box was just created now people can say why learn how to program in C/C++ when you can just point and click.
I am teaching myself C (On Linux of course), and couldn’t be bothered to
a) Take the early stages that I’m in and apply it to the PSP
b) Learn the differences between C++ and C right now as it is enough on my hands.
And for lots of people, they can’t even grasp of programming works. So this is great for them. Do _you_ know any language?
Indeed I know C, Perl, PHP, VB, and Python. Also happy to hear more people using linux around here ^^. What I’m saying is by programming your own PSP software you have no limits to what you can do, however, this software creates those limits keeping people boxed in.
I would love to get into making homebrew and even creating/changing firmware, but i dont have a clue what to do or where to start…
This looks great been waiting for something like it for ages.
tho i dont think it is as good as knowing the actual language. I have not got aroung to learning C C++ i only know CSS HTML and JS
If you know JS, it’s not too far from C++
With college in the way I didn’t have time to really learn C++ AND apply it to PSP, this guy made my life 10x easier, props.
Homebrew Augmented Reality apps using the psp go!cam?
Every time I try to test my game I get the error:
Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application.
I have tried reinstalling but still I get this error.
