First, learn to type correctly (Something you need to work on first). Second, learn how PSP firmwares actually work. This will probably take somebody of your intellectual ability a long time, and with your probable attention span you won’t be able to get past THAT, so I’ll cut it there.

Sweet! Homebrew does work with this new update. I’m glad GEN released a bug fix for this problem. Now I can play gPSP emulator on my PSP Fat.
This is great, even tho i’m on m33. We need some type of plugin that can let us bypass games that require higher fw. So much stuff is coming out, and sony is slick to hide their fw in the umd and not release the eboot.
sony ha 2 release an eboot file 4 those that cant get the game or dont have wifi

CFW 5.50 GEN-A is ONLY compatible with the PSP-1000 (Fat) & PSP-2000 (Slim) v1 or v2.

Ok, so the only thing I’m missing out of this update as well as the previous two, is the ability to play the video UMD iso’s……. any possibility on getting that lil problem taken care of? lol I have a ton of movies ripped from the UMD’s that I’d like to see (a whole lotta imports since shipping and handling costs more than lunch for a week for both of my kids), but cannot do so since, for some reason, the ability to watch the iso rips is not included in this cfw

PLS PLS I’m begging you to take an English class so your instructions can actually be helpful.
What I think he’s trying to say is that you need some sort of UMD in the UMD drive (NOT the DVD drive, you dolt) while you mount the video UMD image, using the VSH (not the outdated home video technology) menu. If you can’t afford one $5 UMD, you’ve got some serious issues.
I can’t say for certain, as I’m a DA purist, but it’s a trick that has been in the PSP hacking scene since .iso’s first got emulated. Give it a shot.

What happened to the 1.50 kernels? Are they not needed anymore with this? I have 5.00 M33-3 with a 1.50 kernel. Would it mess it up if I upgraded to this?
Because most everyone who makes programs for the psp have updated to use the 3.x – 5.x kernel instead of relying on the 1.5. If you run this the obvious answer is yes, the 1.5 support will go away. Some of the questions asked here are so blatantly obvious that they should just be ignored.

Some games, like KETM, still have to be used in the 1.5 kernel. It was at least important enough to Dark Alex to include it with the 5.00 update.
I didnt mean to sound insulting. There really is no real reason to use this firmware since m33 will probably be released a week after 6.0 hits the updater.
If its not broke then why fix it.

No it wont, Dark Alex has said recently there are no plans at all for a 6.00 m33.
Look it up if you don’t believe me. He might be hiding it, I don’t know, but from what he has said, and his forums closing, it looks like he might be out of this CFW scene now.
lol well i had gen b running on a fat psp but for some reason the homebrews didn’t work on it i trie every path i could for ever app that had the 5.50 fix but it stil didn’t work wht i think is that the genA and genB should only be for the psp slim not phat
DO NOT INSTALL THIS!! (on a Fat PSP anyway). And if you do, make certain you have a current Pandora stick to downgrade it back.
I had CFW 5.00 M33 which worked perfectly. But I decided to go and upgrade anyway. Big mistake. I went to 5.50 A to B to B2. Half of my homebrew wouldn’t work, and that was not the biggest problem. The real problem was that scrolling through the menus slowed down to an absolute crawl. What the hell causes that? Sometimes it would take 5 min just to scroll from one icon to another!
Then it took me two hours to downgrade it back, since my old Pandora stick wouldn’t do the job. At least I got my PSP back. But what a waste of time overall.
are you sure it’s not just your psp 1000? it works absolutely fine on my phat.
If your XMB is uber slow it is because the CPU speed for XMB was altered. All you have to do is go to the recovery menu and change the CPU clock speed for XMB back to default. That is how I fixed it for my brother`s PSP (with an older firmware) a few months ago.
I cranked the CPU speed to maximum (333) and the problem was still there.
Well I guess GEN does suck then. I still have m33 so I wouldn`t know.

For phat users: This update causes you to have the hang screen problem slim users were having with Soul Calibur Broken Destiny. It played fine until i used this B2 update. So in the end i had to pandora my psp’s ass just for soul calibur. ( Which is a badass game ) It looks just like SC III for ps2 graphically.
Actually SC III is graphically way better. O_o You don’t have much of an eye for quality. Ah, trolling psp-hacks is so self-gratifying =D

Well I had the same problem w PSP Phat and Soul Calibur. B2 won’t let me play it.
But you can always carry both updates (B and B2) and switch btw them when u wanna play something specific.

LoL Ok well Thanks For Fixin the homebrew Problem,Im Able to Run all my Homebrew now and all my Games including Soul Caliber with no Problems at all. I dont Get why there are so many Complaints/Problems for Phat users, As Iv got both a Phat and a Slim. Both Upgraded to B2 and Both have No problems running Anything… Tested it with my Soul Caliber and many other games… I went From M33 to Gen a to b to b2. Oh well I hope its all Fixed soon enough for the others.

PSP-1004 updated from 5-50 GEn-B to B2. Ran Soul Calibur, everything ok. Ran bookr – ok, turn PSP sleep and bang – console is not working. No picture nor sound only green power constantly on – any solutions ?

Me and my Friend both updated to 5.50 GEN-B2 and now can’t play Soulcalibur Broken Destiny 7131 error in the game.
Looks like GEN-B and B2 are just patches and Pandora addons. GEN-A seems to work just fine. Dump a 5.51OFW and rewrite etc folder in flash0 to use the version txt and play 5.51 Jap demos. I think the new 5.55 UMD’s might write something to flash2, just like the act.dat file you get on PSN. Who knows? The OFW5.55 test on the DC-8 mod works but didn’t find anything new. I guess thats why they call it Pandora.
5.50Gen-B2 seriously need to make the MS reading speed faster….
i got all homebrew working even before this update, i noticed some homebrew is much more stable with this update, i use a slim psp and i find this firmware much better than 5.00 m33 and it is much faster responsive and for me it works better with homebrew (as long as you get the correct ones) than 5.00 m33…
all you guys having issues its either you are using fat and/or cant find the updated apps and plugins for gen (even the ones designed for gen a works for gen b and gen b2).
also please stop complaining complaining about the speed up on ms cards, because if you get fake ms dont rely others to fix them otherwise figure out how to use fatsmod
lastly dont ever ask for 1.5 support to be added when all homebrew has been updated to run on updated firmware otherwise theres an app for psp to run the 1.50 homebrew, its not perfect but it does run all homebrew i wanted to run that hasnt been updated to run on newer firmware

You have to update to 5.50A first before you can update to 5.50B or B2.
But honestly, this update has way too many problems. 5.00 M33-4 is much more stable.

Ok…um completely new in this section. Recently got myself a PSP-3003. Installed CFW 5.03 M33 using the ChickHEN hack. I can play ISO’s tho. But what I wanted to know is that can this firmware play all ISO’s or does different ISO’s has different requirement of FW’s? If i download & install Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-B or Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-B2 (Update) would i still be able to play the ISO’s? Most importantly, can I get this update done in my PSP-3003? Are there any risks?
If you have a PSP-3000 model DO NOT install this it will brick your psp and you will have a paper weight. Best to just sit tight with what you have and wait for a team to develop a cfw update supporting the 3000 model.
I swear the PSP-Scene is in fucking shambles.

I have a PSP 1000 running 5.00 M33-4 and it’s beautiful. I was considering updating to GEN but I can’t see any real advantage and a few of these comments above contain horror stories.
So, I’ve decided to stick with good old reliable, stable, compatible M33. All Hail Dark Alex.
The only draw back: A lot of the new PSP games (like Dirt 2) don’t work so I am crossing my fingers so tight for 6.00 M33-1. Don’t let me down man (or should I say No me permita abajo hombre).

I updated from 5.00 m33-6 to 5.50 gen-a to gen-b to gen-b2 and i gotta say.. all is working sweet.. i got snesx working and d-gen lite RIN (gb emulator) all working sweet with no noticable difference at all. i also got cxmb for 5.50 and some cool new themes that all work A+
m33 served its purpose but with all the rumors that dax is gone or on a break and no new m33 cfw’s on the horizon, gen is all good!!

I have PSP2006 with Firmware 5.03 and i use the ChickHEN R2 updater to play the iso games. Now i want to play FIFA 10 but it requires CFW 5.50 Gen B so can i upgrade it to CFW 5.50 Gen B directly or do i need to do some other process first?? Please help me out. Thank You.

I downloaded this update and put the 5.50genb… foldder in PSP>Game. When i restrted my, it can’t regonize any games. When i put the psp back inmmy computer- my psp folder turned all the names turned into little boxes.
