[RUMOUR] PSP-4000 in Development; And the UMD is Back?!

Just as I tossed all my UMDs in a pile and lit ‘em on fire I stumble across site after site reporting the PSP-4000 is in development, and not only that, it will feature the UMD drive again. This all stems from one anonymous fellow who calls him/herself Super_Secret. But — the real kicker — Super_Secret was bang-fuckin-on when it came to those PS3 Slim rumours and other PS3-related business. So yeah, this could very well be true; I don’t doubt it.
Let me quote:

SONY, u suck 4 life.
If you don’t like their product you should not buy it. True, remaking the PSP for the fourth time dosen’t seem like the direction they should be following, but to make a handheld so versatile (not just the hacked version either although it does make it a lot more worth getting) and portable, its not to say the least that Sony does not “suck 4 life”. Now on to the product, personally if your not gonna inprove a system more than 30% why continue to keep selling the same system over and over.
Now if Sony made the PSP Go into a phone then it wouldn’t be worthless and a waste of time. I’d actually considering buying it as a phone, but nope they didn’t so /dont care on spending that much. I could buy another Wii, PS3 with $50 more, or a 360.. lol.

i don’t see the point hear the 3000 isn’t even hacked yet at least not Pandora style. the go is not out yet and now there making a 4000 model. then again they might be phasing out the 3000 due to its screen issues actually making games look worse.

we knew that… or we were supposed to… when sony announced the PSP Go! they said they were also releasing a PSP with UMD… for those who preferred having the physical game… or at least i remember that…
if sony are making a new psp without major improvements such as a camera, touchscreen, second analog, better graphics then only retards will buy it and sony will lose money. so lets hope their heads are out of their asses and are making a totally new generation psp.

And I always thought, that go is marked as 4000… Anyway, it was always Sony’s move to improve, and/or shrink any of their products, just to make money. And even most of the new models of their products, dont have any difference in technical aspect… As for myself, i usually wait till a slim console is released. PSP slim 4eva!!!

I really think Sony is gonna release the PSP-4000. There are so many people complaint about the PSP Go not having a UMD drive, Sony is stupid enough to create a new PSP. Since most of the people who complain about the PSP Go not having UMD drive are smart, they sure as hell won’t buy PSP-4000 if the features are not outstanding(e.g camera, double analog, touchscreen). Therefore, these people will buy just the usual PSP-1000,2000,3000 instead of PSP-4000. Hence, I conclude that Sony=Stupid.
you’re dumb. Hardly anyone uses UMDs, the moment the PSP was released UMD was criticized, the PSP-4000 is a FUCKING RUMOR. Most people complaining about no UMD drive are FUCKING DUMB. You CANNOT bitch for shit like dual analog/touch screen untill the NEXT generation of PSP comes out, because then otherwise you get games that are labelled for teh same system, but only compatible with the newer model, this will not happen. The PSP2 (the different between PlayStation and PlayStation 2 being what I mean for PSP 2) may have such features, but not anything in the PSP/PSPGo group.

They must not realize that in order to keep people away from piracy, they gotta make games worth buying. Look at the DS, it’s even easier than the PSP to get ROMS and homebrew working on it but it’s killing the PSP in terms of sales.

What people fail to realize is that they want all these attachments to a PSP like a camera & touch screen, BUT that’ll make the system as expensive as all Hell. Yeah sure it’ll be fun and cool to have, but is it necessary? You want something touchscreen? Go buy an iPhone 3G. Sure it may cost more, but guess what, that’s because its touchscreen! Also, it’s a phone, and a camera, and an iPod, and a portable DVD player. That’s similar to what a PSP can do. The only thing I’d like to see on a new PSP is Dual nubs. I love playing shooters with two analogs.
For the tards that want a second analog stick on the PSP:
1. You will be giving up homebrew and CFW. New PSP’s will probably be unhackable.
2. Older titles will not be compatible with the analogs. PSP games do not get updates like PS3 games and a lot of devs have not made any PSP games for a longgggg time.
3. We are in the freaking middle of the PSP’s life cycle, what good will the sticks be? They will only piss people that already have a PSP off because they will have to get a new PSP with the same exact features as their old one. Think about it, the second stick would only be an asthetic add-on at this point.
Are you sure you want to pay full retail price for something that you have when you could spend that money on a PSP 2 that will probably ship with two analog sticks?

It’s most likely just an update on the battery or something to help combat possible future piracy. Non-removable like it’s UMD-less counter-part.

has anybody wondered why the ps3 doesn’t have a umd slot.
like the wii is compatible with all nintendo games through BC of gamecube discs and download content.
like replacing the Compact flash slot for umd honestly i dont know a single person who uses compact flash but i know alot of people with psp and libraries of UMD so go fig
Because then there wouldn’t be a need for a PSP anymore, so it’s one reason why they don’t do that.
Also, the Wii is BC with another console, not a hand-held. You cannot play DS games on the Wii.
I disagree the PSP’s biggest selling point is that it’s portable. The gaming experience is fairly poor when you compare it to its console counterparts. In addition the whole concept is completely irrational when you consider the fact that sony could much more easily enable ISO’s through a software update without the need to add any hardware.
i would buy it if PSP has a slot for SIM Card just like cellphone. Sony rules! All hail Sony!

Also, don’t people realize that the hardware changes for the PSP are just like the PS2s? After the PS2 slim release, whenever there is a slight hardware change in the PS2, barely anyone complains. You all should treat the PSP the same way. If you have the 2000 model, you have absolutely no reason to get the 3000 or 4000, because they have only been slightly changed. The only ones who even need to get the latest PSP model are those with a 1000 model or if their current PSP breaks. The hardware changes in the 4000 model are probably not going to be much.
