PSP Firmware 6.00 BETA Released to Official Developers

greg | August 29, 2009

Released to legitimate/licensed PSP developers is firmware 6.00 beta. It’s clear Sony has taken the motherly role in protecting their newborn: the PSPgo. PSPGEN, who we all know and trust, shed some light on the 6.00 situation…

PSP Firmware 6.00 BETA Screenshot

Sony has no doubt performed a serious firmware audit plugging all known vulnerabilities — even unpublished kernel exploits — found in the current firmware versions, which of course leaves their new hand-held much harder to hack; or any [newer] PSP that is upgraded to 6.00+ for that matter. Those are the details we know right now. We’ll keep you posted.

Whilst that drives me nuts too, I’ve learned to accept that some peoples typing habits are poorer than should be allowed. It can be mind-boggling how people seem to think that displaying their thoughts as slang written out is a good idea, but it happens.

@D:
It’s true. Typing like that makes intelligent people have to double take in order to read it correctly. But I suppose you aren’t using 1337 yet so you’re not that bad yet.

oh and if u want a plain english person to translate it go ask a smart person, not the impatient ones cause there a bit a slow, lazy.lol

Welcome to English, Compton 310 and D.

Anyways i don’t want the PSPgo to be hacked there actually starting to produce good games for PSP. i don’t mind if the 1000,2000 & 3000 get hacked though but just leave the go let company’s produce good games then hack it if possible.

‘H’ should have been enclosed by single-quotation marks and preceded by the word ‘an’, not the letter ‘a’.
When using the letter ‘i’ to refer to yourself, it should always be capitalized since it is a proper noun.

no “we” can never hack “anything” only the elite that have experience and also the ones that bring “homebrew” which os really called “reverse engineering” is the ones that will hack and exploit the devices that come into the mainstream. Also I think they work at the the companies yhat release the products, since it just seems way too easy for “hacked firmware” to just surface after a retail firmware comes out. ….Way Too Easy

You’re kidding me right? The newer psp2k’s (And 3k’s) Haven’t even been able to see a real custom firmware and the exploit took an awfully long time to even be surfaced let alone the release of CFW Enabler a month or two after.

I highly doubt there will be an exploit that will be found to work on the PSPGo anytime soon after its release, Everyone had hype over the newer Firmware they thought the PSPGo was going to be released with due to the anticipated MOH Exploit.

I say all chances are lost for any exploits people are holding back now.

I wouldn’t count on anything coming out soon let alone CFW for the PSPgo. (since it is new hardware+ software)

I was really just being optimistic. I know were about as close to getting a hacked 6.0 as we are to getting a hacked ps3. I really wish ps3 would be hacked at least to allow .srt subtitles. By the time someone hacks the ps3, i’ll already have a htpc and wont care.

This is what the article said. Nothing important but im sure some of you were wondering.

Like every major change of version (here the passage 6.x), it is natural to ask “what are the big news that justifies the number change?”

We will try to learn a little more but it already seems clear that this new firmware will, at least, the protections of firmwares 5.51, 5.55 and 5.70 which were adjusted to plug all known vulnerabilities and, more troublesome, even unpublished vulnerabilities kernel (one used by Miriam 5.02HEN for example).

It is indeed clear that Sony has made a serious audit of its firmware and having to try to stop hacks from the consoles. The PSP Go is also likely to be an exciting challenge for players of the world underground.

It will also probably compatible with the new 3.0 of the PS3 but we will notify you as soon as we learn a little more.

And on a side note I didn’t realize french translated to English so well…

If I speculate correctly, the PSP Development Kits have dramatically gone down on proce so more people can afford them. This means that with the new PSPGo! there will be games not only from AAA studios, but possibly indie as well. Indie has some level of amateurism. This means that there could be high probability of producing mediocre, unprotected, and/or unsafe code. This may be our way in.

Just my thoughts…

If u look at this in a big picture they could really stop pieriting. The soul calibur game requires firmware 5.55 and still there is no cfw.5.55 if they kept updating those who rather use there games on the mem stick (weather bought or downloaded) might have no other choice than to use umd games. Well someone needs to act fast before sony accomplishes their goal.

What is the point of hacking the new PSP GO…

It does not have a UMD Slot so that means that all of the new games are going to be on the Play Station Store which will be near impossible to pirate. Which the majority of CFW user’s are.

Sony are obviously trying very hard to make it very hard to hack like the PS3. So with new hardware and the new 6.0 firmware, It is probably going to be very difficult to hack.

The PSP 3000 still isnt 100% hacked. It has CFW Enabler but that is a load of crap. Well sort of at least it works but they still have not made a pernament CFW which it needs…

Comment by mattjd

They are most likely too update there DRM as well so it is uncrackable as well.

Like i said without a hacked PSP you cant play cracked/pirated Games. so the DRM hack is only useful when the PSP is actually hacked which is going to be very unlikely, I am guessing there going to make there security like the near military security PS3 :P

I have only one problem with the Go, battery life. Sure it would be great to have custom firmware, dual analog sticks, so on and so forth, but battery life changes all that. My iPod Touch lasts a good 10 hours of solid music, game, and video playing before I even need to think of charging it, and look at the size. If the PSPgo could get better battery life I would definitely use it for my on the go music, video, and, of course, gaming needs.

I can’t wait for the GO! Why? More experienced hackers will arise. This means more people will try to find exploits. And since the GO! and 3000 will run the same OFW, when an exploit will allow CFW on the GO!, we all get CFW on our 3k’s!

That’s my theory, anyway.
