Hold+ v4.0 Released: The Ultimate PSP Music Player Companion
greg | August 13, 2009
An absolute must; Torch’s Hold+… That’s if, a) you use your PSP for jamming tunes, and/or b) your PSP’s hold switch is semi-busted. Here’s how it works, when the hold switch is on, Hold+ does the following:
- Switches off the LCD screen and backlight.
- Under clocks the CPU to 60MHz.
- Turns off LEDs.
- Allows the use of Left, Right, LTrigger, RTrigger, Volume and Start buttons if you hold the Select button first.
…Therefore you’re saving battery power while listening to your music. And when you hit the switch back down:
- The original screen brightness and clock speed are restored.
Oh yeah, Hold+ does this too:
- Prevents the PSP from going into suspend mode if you accidentally push the power switch too far when turning off Hold mode.
- Fixes malfunctioning hold switch.
- Enables the 5th brightness level on the PSP Slim.
- Increases the vertical scrolling speed under the music menu by around 50% (scroll 300 songs in 10 seconds).
Hold+ v4.0 changes:
- This is a fix for people with broken Hold switches that keep randomly switching on and off while in Hold mode. Now when the Hold switch is enabled, the PSP remains in hold mode permanently until the switch is fully pushed to the power off position. This will prevent a malfunctioning Hold switch from randomly interfering.
- Removed Display Off mode (hold ANALOG UP while releasing Hold) since holding Select is sufficient for most users.

great plugin , I’m using this since the 1st release , saves a lot of battery.
Fixes Hold switch? now THIS is what I’ve been waiting for! :D
I thought that I’ve the only one with problems with the hold switch.
And to push the power shift from hold to power off
is so much easier… ♥
Torch, Thanks-a-lot. :3
alll right i wanted one to be clocked to 60 mhz. way to go dont get much better than this. except that I want a speaker where my umd drive is for more and louder music. keep up the good work
Hate to tell you, no software is going to add a speaker. :-p
Very good plugin. Use it all the time. But mostly not for music. I use it alot for usb mode. Works perfectly.
It’s great, but some of these features are more annoying than useful for some people. Underclocking can mess up some programs, and the switch fix is more of a burden than anything for people without a faulty switch. I can’t imagine turning the LEDs off saves much power either, at the expense of leaving it on by accident. Are we ever going to see a config of some sort for these?
nooo!!! y did he remove the display off mode?!?!? i liked that, i didnt want to have to overuse my select button!!
Yeah, I know. Whenever I use PSPTube, to avoid lag, I’d use Analog Up to use display off.
I broke my Phat because of my broken select button. :(
is this compatible with the PSP 3000 under the custom firmware enabler v3.60?
Yes, it is. :3
HACK THE PS3 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They have some hacks not as good as the psp’s hacks though.
Not much of an update… I think I’ll stick to v3.8 for now.
Guys, how do i install plugins on a psp 3000 with 5.03 GEN A Full?
