G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra UMD Includes & Requires PSP Firmware 5.55

Perhaps this update will never see the light of day, whether that be from Sony’s website or Network Update; however, G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra UMD comes pressed with firmware 5.55, much like IdolM@ster SP and 5.05. Currently, as confirmed in the below video, 5.55 is required to run G.I. Joe. But really, we all know that’ll be hacked/bypassed in due time.

I just figured this one out about 10 minutes before it showed up. I wish dark alex would make a new firmware with the 5.50’s being tired of 5.00 M33 and dont wanna upgrade to 5.50 GEN. Or any of the other firmwares that has popped up.
Could you just use the version.txt method to make this work?

There were others as well like, some scamers on irc who said that dax had some random disease/ was arrested, and needed donations to pay his medicaments/lawyers.

Well this is sadly disappointing. First the PSN, and now games are starting to upgrade. Hopefully DAX settles on making a new firmware soon, because a lot of us are being left behind.
Hopefully there’s a new M33 before 6.00 comes out. I really hope DAX isn’t waiting for that update to come out.

First off I have no idea what youre saying. Secondly do you have the source handy with you. Lastly its not CTF its CFW, CTF is a theme file that is flashed with CXMB. CFW is hacked firmware allowing people to play homebrew and play back ups of their games.

Its not everyone. Please, notice that there is a huge number of people are fluent on english, not being either american, british, canadien, and etc.
I must tell you, most people who participate here are not from those countries either.
I might be soundling like an smart-ass (well, im actually doing) but seiously in terms of complexty english is pretty much simple.
Thats not a bad thing, since its easier to learn, but in terms of dificulty, i’d say that French, Spanish and Portuguese are the most dificult languages to learn.
Note*: no, Japanese isn’t a complex language. Its even more simpler than English. It only takes time to know all words, and their specific character.
*This note is directed to those who might say that japanese is a difficult language.

i wouldn’t say that, majority of playstation games are quite good, although at first impression they may seem quite dull, however that is sadly the case.
I learned from experience to not judge a playstation game without trying it out first.
Besides lately majority of games are story-based, meaning that after completeing a mession and /or an event you come to the preface to the next mission which is usually a video. however from experience, this is sadly the case as it seems to be simply preface with sound…
ie (games produced from movies, Indiana Jone, Wolverine, Transformers etc..
I have found, that if you repeatedly smash Taki’s head into a wall, the game just might work….
I tried it just doesn’t work.

Yup, Just found out now. Put the ISO in the folder and got the error code. I had my PSP powering up for the GEN update but after reading that failed, I’m staying at M33-6. Thanks guys..it also saved me 40 bucks testing this ISO.. :D
I was just thinking, if this game is 5.55 OFW now, then when Gran Turismo PSP is released, the one game i have been waiting for, i am not going to be able to play it, damn it, i am on 5.00 M33 – 6, so even upgrading to GEN B or the other one, it will still not work as it will need 5.55……Bollocks is all i can say, thanks a lot $ony for forcing me to put OFW on there. :o(
Yup, and that includes assasins creed, little big planet, marvel ultimate alliance 2, soul calibur, metal gear, undead knights, dante’s inferno, socom 3, resedent evil, and others.
along with those games that are to be embedded with 5.55 does include the new Dissidia Final Fantasy due to come out in less than 3 weeks ?

Guys…let’s not panic about this. Just retrace the history of the sony psp. There have ALWAYS been a new firmware that was “unhackable” and then Sony would release all the new games requiring that firmware update. Shortly afterwards the firmware would be hacked. Yes nobody knows where DAX is but he isn’t the ONLY person in the world that can hack! There are new people (teams of them) to the scene trying to help us out and it doesn’t help that nobody is crying for their help. If I was one of them I would feel totally unappreciated. This will probably be hacked…soon. I just hope the new dissidia for US doesn’t have this update shit. The japanese version didn’t…but I dunno. Just wait…there was once upon a time where cfw on the 3000 was a dream. Look at it now. With time everything gets hacked. Sony is going down. We should be thankful for this actually…as this is really a challenge from Sony to hackers if you think about it.

It seems like whenever we figure something out…sony crushes it immediately…so why waste the discovery on a minor update. Save it for the big update. I know if I had discovered something..I would save it for the Psp Go.

this isnt the first time cfw psps got behind times. when we where all running 4.1 firmware the same rumers abought dax spred. then there was rumers of irshells death. everyone of them where not true. its a good thing to let them get the good games out then hack the firmware again so they cant get the chance to fix it before the next hit comes out.
but i have to agree with the fact compared to gen mm3 is just better.

stop with those rumers jeasus. dissida runs on 5.0 being i played the jpn version. so unless they did annything then translate it that game should work.
if the rumer abought alex is true you say alot of things when people steal your work. hes probly just staying back for a wile to watch then gen team flop around on the ground for a wile and utterly fail. then he will probly come back with the most crazy cfw ever made. i did this as a dev when some wannabees stole my code.
