Personally, I’m sticking with 5.50 GEN… But should you wanna give this a go, then here you go — Becus25 and Xenogears’ Custom Firmware for the PSP-1000/2000: CFW 5.50 MHU. Email me when you can access the PlayStation Store and NP9660 isn’t broken. Don’t get me wrong — Xenogears, Becus25 — props. You got skills.
I recommend you pass the readme (leeme.txt) through Google Translate. Here, copy this –

I am a little confused here? I thought becus and xeno where only on CFW Enabler for 88v3′/3k PSP’s.

No, it’s for the 1000’s and 2000’s WITHOUT 88v3 MOBO.

If you dont tell us if you have a v3 mobo or not, or if you dont tell us wich datacode is shown under yout battery, we cant tell you if this ‘ll work. If your datacode is 8B or lower, then yes, you can install this. If your datacode is 8C or higher then, no you cant install this firmware.

Here we go Im going to attempt to translate the readme:
What Is It?
It is a custom firmware for version 5.50.
What do I Need?
- A PSP (Model 1000 or 2000(not ta-88v3)) with the capacity to load homebrew.
How To Use
Copy the update folder to this directory on your PSP’s Memorystick: “X:/PSP/GAME/”
Download sony’s original 5.50 eboot –>

Copy the 5.50 eboot file to “X:/PSP/GAME/” and rename it to SCE.PBP
Launch the application under Game in the XMB.
IMPORTANT: When the application prompts you to press X, It is vital to do so as not following this will result in a brick.
Frequent Errors:
q: NP9660 does not work
A: The no-umd driver used in this CFW is M33’s No-UMD
Q: I cannot activate through the internet services.(? dunno this is as close as i can translate this messagedue to question marks)
A: In this version, this is not implemented.

How to install:
Copy the carpet “UPDATE” to your memory stick in “X:/PSP/GAME/”
Download the official 5.50 update of Sony -> http://rapidshare.com/files/223978996/550.PBP

While 2kv3 and 3k updates are great, not everyone has one of these. I for one do not, and none of my friends do either. It’s nice to see 1k and 2k CFW being made, and I think it would be asinine of CFW creators to ignore that section of PSP users.
To the MHU and GEN teams; Keep up the good work. I’ll continue waiting for a proper upgrade to m33-6

Why did they not post the translated readme instead of a link to a translator?
Im staying with M33. I found out if you spoof it to say 5.50 you can access the PSN store though your computer. So I see no need to upgrade.
Considering that I dont use the store and can do it through my ps3 anyways im good with M33-6 till DAX comes out with the new one.
U3R-2 is almost like M33. The only thing lacking is the 1.50 patch for the fat psp. But you can use leda anyways.

Man, as soon as M33 came out i flashed it. and i currently have the latest GEN. but im pretty sure 2 are enough. Im not biased as ive used a wide variety of cfws, but if we have one or two stable full featured cfws then thats awesome. any more than that and n00bs will start complaining about compatibilty issues cos theyre running some obscure unsupported cfw. Just my view on things, im not trying to be a dick, just being rational. :D lmao

still he could let us know, that he won’t be making anything, i got no problem with him stopping his work and focusing on his life, but he has become an icon here, he is like a celebrity, he kind of has an obligation to let us know whats going on. like i said, if he wants to stop, i have no problem, life is more important than creating free programs for people, but he could at least let us know whats going on. I havent been following the scene so i dont know if he already did and please correct me if im wrong, but i dont recall him doing so.
i will stick with m33 also can u gimmie a link on how to spoof it to verison 5.50 thanks in advance and if this spoof always works i will never upgrade till dax the best cfw maker makes a new cfw (if something aint broken why fix it)

GEN seems to always have some bugs
And this firmware is bugged out;

HAHA, your completely right dime. People talked this same shit about whenever M33 first came out, saying they would never use it, why use it if DAX didn’t make it, we don’t need another maker, etc, etc, etc.
It was hilarious, and anyone thats been around this scene for longer saw it…GEN firmware rocks, MHU needs some work, but thats fine, everyone starts somewhere…
I mean seriously people, what if DAX dies, or quits making firmwares because he moves on to other things, if these guys weren’t there, you would all be screwed. All you do is leach off of everything anyways…its amazing most of you can even install it…lol

I was thinking, perhaps instead of people trying to upgrade the cfw to the latest version, why not just release a plugin on a per game basis so that if say ‘Unplayable Game 1′ comes out, the skilled people out there could make ‘Now Playable Game 1′ plugin. Regardless of the amount of people who switch over to GEN or this one there will still be a huge majority of people like me who wont because we like our psp’s to still play emulators and other things. Just a thought.

i havent yet installed this, currently stuck on 5.50 gen-b which has just about no prx compatability, whether in homebrew or regular plugins. but ill give this one a go.

Does this cfw use the psp updater? I’ve been getting an error for like forever now using that, the only possibility for me is to flash it right away to the latest fw..but since theres no 5.50 m33 I guess I’ll just have to wait to play online..
when i downloaded this my videos are like in a slow mo motion and i cant access them but games photos and music can play what is a possible solution for this thanks.

Listen guys, you really need to chill out. we are coming back, me and the m33 team. However you need to know that MHU is a group of people within the team of M33. The newest members with not so much of studying due to being in their first year of university. I check upon their work – however they are capable of doing it the right way. If they say some functions do not work it’s not their fault, it is the new firmware that causes it.
We WILL be back, just don’t do anything I wouldn’t do…as is brick your psp ;)
